DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE #7008 in Weaverville. The management and notary staff called the police on me and my wife when we asked a reason why they would not notarize our sons birth certificate correction. They claim it’s because we had photo copies of ID, which is a lie. We had two copies of our passport, which were part of the birth certificate application it self. Staff never asked for our actual ID’s, nor did the supervisor, they just wanted to refuse service. UPS STORE #7008 needs to follow their own processes by ASKING and not ASSUMING and looking through our personal application paperwork! All a notary is supposed to do is ask where I need to sign and ask for our photo ID, which store #7008 did not do. We went to another UPS store in Asheville and the first thing they did is ask for our ID, and where we need to sign,
not fumble through our paperwork trying to find a reason not to notarize. If the store #7008 staff had just asked we could have shown our ID, instead he just said, I don’t feel comfortable notarizing this. This is an unfortunate flashback to Jim Crow days when racism and discrimination ran rampant and all you had to say is I don’t feel comfortable serving you because you’re black. This management team needs to get with the times of rationality. No need to tell us not to come there again. We won’t step foot in this store again and invite any other human who wants to fight against this outdated behavior will do the same. We all deserve better and unless we speak up, they think they can continue with no consequences! Our sincere gratitude for Angel at UPS Store # 0264, not only did you follow UPS processes, you did it with a smile that made us feel welcomed. NOT ALL UPS stores are the same.

Horrible experience with their notary ups employee and ups supervisor Gene on early afternoon, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024:
We have a 8 day year old new born baby, and we needed to do a one letter name correction to our son’s birth certificate. UPS advertises notary service, but we were refused notary service by both the supervisor Gene and his employee. After the UPS staff member confirmed he can do notary services, which is just to verify our identity and inspect our signature, he left us waiting for about 15 minutes. After he returned. Then he began to read through the instructions, never asked us for our ID or confirmed where the notary portion for signature was. All he said is “I don’t feel comfortable to notarize this.” Surprised and curious we asked why, and he said he just “didn’t feel comfortable doing it.” I asked three more times, and he repeated “he just didn’t feel comfortable.” Finally I said is your uncomfortable feeling because I am African American and my wife is Taiwanese? Then he raised his voice to another employee “call the police!” that I was accusing him of discrimination and that he would call his supervisor. I said great I’d love to know why you are uncomfortable. We waited patiently and when the policie finally came they all huddled in the back of the store for about 15-20 minutes and never approached us. Finally I got back into the line to attempt to take care of some other business. While we waited to learn why this notary was discriminating against use. When they noticed us talking jovially with the other cashier the supervisor finally came out shook our hand and asked the issue while to police stood in the background. After explaining the issue, he said the notary said he could not do it because we didn’t have proper ID. I then explained he never asked for our ID and we do have it. Instead of this supervisor jumping into and communicating this to the notary and his employee, he just said they can refuse service for any reason. I then said is there some other reason or is it just this UPS store or should I just go to another UPS store. This UPS store manager feels it’s okay to refuse service based nationality and race. In fact he defended his employee by saying there’s no way he’s racist because he lived in Africa for 10 years and did Christian ministry work! Wow! The supervisor Gene then proceeded to give me a card on which to file a formal complaint. After leaving the store to drive to another UPS I called the number on the card to learn it was actually the same supervisor Gene. Confused I asked him why he had given me his card in front of the police to file a formal complaint. He then said that he would give me an 800 number to call. When I asked him for the name identifying information about the notary to file the complaint. He refused. And said that he was responsible for employees at the store. He gave me the impression that there was no need to file a complaint as he ultimately would be doing nothing about it. Needless to say we went to the UPS store directly down the road and we’re greeted professionally in the course of five minutes, not only did we have our paperwork notarized, but we were able to mail it off at that store as well. The notary at the second store immediately asked for our IDs. Which the previous ups store employee or supervisor never did. The Asheville UPS store Angel was great and entered our information into the UPS notary system and collected the fees for the notary. Quite shameful that the supervisor Gene and his employee / notary would call the police rather than simply explaining where they’re confusion was and creating such a drama and such a harassing and poor customer experience I will never visit the store again and will be filing a complaint with North Carolina Secretary of State as well as with the corporate offices of UPS. We must erradic revisit from our planet and replace it with a genuine love of all humanity. Please join me in boycotting this store until this supervisor and his accomplice are brought to justice for their action.

Somehow this is the only store that is rude to me over the phone and there's literally ALWAYS an issue when in shipping something out!
The ONLY time there isn't an issue is with an Amazon return.
They also give me completely inaccurate information and a lot of the times, do not know the answer to my questions, but are rude to ME about it! And of course can't give me any useful help like who COULD help and when they do suggest help all they know how to say is "you could call customer service but they don't even know how to get a hold of the person I need to or what I need to ask in the prompts. And AGAIN, are rude to ME for not knowing or because I simply asked. But if I call or go to another UPS store they are always more helpful.
It sucks because sometimes I need to speak to or come to this one since it's the closest to my house. Any time I have issues with them over the phone and call a different UPS store, or just call a different UPS store to begin with, I literally NEVER have issues with anybody else, EVER. I also receive better/more accurate information from other stores. It sucks that I have to talk to, use, and drive to a further away UPS store just because I can't with them.
They for sure don't mind getting rude over the phone and hanging up and nobody will answer when you call back! So unprofessional. I've never experienced anything like this before in my entire life.

It's always very good, but sometimes mistakes happen that could have been better if closer attention was paid

The employees are friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and very helpful. The store is also very convenient to me and has ample parking. I prefer shipping with UPS over other carriers because UPS delivers to my doorstep, not to my mailbox.

Lousy customer service, Lots from local auctions sit for weeks before they move. Call them up and they act like they are doing you a favor to ship your items. Look at their reviews from the past year before you deal with them.

There is a notary here by the name of Michelle and she notarized our truck title wrong making it null and void. I called up to the store and she’s on vacation and the management didn’t even offer an apology. Pitiful

The guy Dean who works here is mean and gruff and a total criminal who needs to be fired. It’s funny the stop sign is in the picture. STOP don’t go in here! The rest of the employees are nice.

Horrible experience as a small business owner. They botched our work and when we decided to not do anymore of our print business with them they got real smug and petty and wouldn’t scan our already paid for ups labeled packages. Place is a joke. It’s horrible it’s our only store in the area and you have to deal with people who have no sense of customer service or doing a job well.

$3 for one piece of paper printed. You can go to the ups store in Asheville or a staples and print the same for 10cents. Never going here again for printing or literally anything else. Ridiculous.
