I so appreciate Dr. Allen's approach to pet care! Walk-ins only. No extra exams or upcharge. Playful nature. Many might be startled by his style of humor or methods but it is truly refreshing. You feel like you have entered into an episode of "All Creatures Great and Small". I Love it! He loves the critters ?

Dr. Allen reminds me of the veterinarian we used to have when I was growing up. Extraordinarily competent and caring toward animals. No frills, no BS. When you take your pets to him, you can be certain they are at the best possible place. If you like a formal hospital environment with maybe not always so sincere pleasantries, then this may not be the place for you. For me, I won’t go anywhere else. Thankful to have Dr. Allen, he sets my mind at ease caring for my beloved dog, Charles.

Just left Dr. Allen’s and after reading some of the bizarre reviews on here I want to weigh in.
There’s a difference between brusk and unkind. Yes he’s quick, curt, doesn’t take a half hour to wax poetic about your dog. But he is at no point unkind or uncaring. He’s super efficient (I’m assuming this is why I didn’t have to sit in a waiting room for an hour) but he took the time to answer my questions thoroughly. Sure he didn’t bring out a vet tech and he asked me to hold my own dogs heads for him (after clearly instructing me how to do so) but shouldn’t you be comfortable handling your own dog? If his efficient no-nonsense manner is what makes his practice function affordably so that I can actually afford to get medical care for my dogs then that’s ok with me. I absolutely love the walk-in clinic hours.

Others wanted $1000 to pull my dogs tooth and I took her to Allen's and he was able to pull that one with his finger and pulled 6 more for$250. He is amazing with the babies.

As a kennel owner, we need to reach out to local vets to secure vaccine updates for our clients. Dr Allen rudely answered his phone when I started to ask for the info I need he let me know I was bothering him and he was closed. It was 3pm Monday. I told him he shouldn’t have answered the phone then at which point he hung up on me.
The Asheville area is brimming with wonderful vets who are professional and easy to work with. I’ve worked with them for 1/4 century. This vet may be good with dogs but I wouldn’t take mine there.

I needed to get my cats chipped, called on a Sunday, and he didn't require an appointment. Super down to earth guy. Quick and reasonable prices. I'll be taking my pets to him from now on.

As someone that often works out of state, it is extremely hard to get prompt care for my animals. Dr. Allen was wonderful and very accommodating. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in the area.

He is a different kind of vet, but he won’t waste your money or time. He offers simple solutions as much as he can.

Dr Allen is a godsend. He’s been my favorite vet for 9 years and the visits are so efficient and low-stress that my dog doesn’t even realize we’re at the vet!
Being able to walk-in and often leaving with a bill under $50 means I’ve been able to quickly help my pets every single time they’ve had a minor ailment or injury, instead of anxiously waiting for it to heal on its own or get “bad enough” to merit a $200+ visit to a full-service office. I don’t know what I would do without him.

I called because I heard that they do low-cost space and I literally was in the middle of my sentence and the vet tech or receptionist cut me off and say ‘what do you need ma’am’
are you kidding me ? like legitimately 0 compassion or normal human behavior
