I had a horrible experience with Smith-Bucy. The project did not start on time. I contacted them the day before it was to start (after waiting weeks) and at 4 pm prior day they told me it would not start the next day. The project was to last 3 days, it did not end on time. I was not happy with the quality of the work, the planning to get it done and the lack of oversight. There was no project management and the single person that showed up at my house never spent more than a 4 hour day. Most days arrival was 11:30 and gone by 3 pm. There was a rain day, perfectly understandable but by then the project should have been finished. Michael never showed up while the project was in progress. The single person (crew?) did not speak English well and was difficult to communicate with. I did let Smith-Bucy know I was frustrated and disappointed in the progress. Finally, I asked them how much it would cost to end the relationship with them early. They gave me a price and said they would be there at 10:45 the next morning to pick up a check. They could have cared less, there was a complete and total indifference to the success of the project and I completely lost confidence, paid them off and hired what I think is a better company to do what I had hoped Smith-Bucy could do. Much more to tell, hopefully my experience can help someone else.

Would never hire them again. Sound professional when providing estimate but the project was unmanaged, they were arrogant and much of the work had to be redone. Unless you initiate it communication was nonexistent. This was a total nightmare.

Smith-Bucy saved the day, or as our son put it "Mr. Smith saved our year!" After our original contractor left our porch and deck unfinished, Michael contracted to finish the job at a fair price (not knowing what complications he was going to encounter from someone else's work; there were plenty). The work performed was exceptional, detail oriented, and exactly what we wanted. Mitch (and the few other subs) was professional and took immense pride in his work. Michael was trustworthy and followed through on everything he told us and made sure the job was completed to our satisfaction. The final product is absolutely beautiful and we love it! Michael also adjusted the price to only include expenses we incurred; basically unheard of. We highly recommend Smith-Bucey and will be using his company to renovate our upstairs bathrooms and if I get my way (not my husband's) a front & side porch!

Working with Michael from Smith-Bucy Construction has been an absolute pleasure! We recently moved to Charlotte and purchased a 5,000 sq. ft. home, after living in our 1,200 sq. ft. NYC condo for the past decade. Homeownership is new to both me and my wife and there was a lot needed to get fixed before we could safely move our family into the house. Luckily, we were introduced to Michael by our realtor. He and his team have a lot of experience and I can ensure you that he would be able to assist with any projects you may have. In the past month (amid a pandemic) Michael was able to consult and execute the repairs of our roof, wood rot, plumbing, electricity, as well as the more aesthetic projects of painting our walls and staining our floors. With projects, of course, comes a big bill. Smith-Bucy works sends invoices via email which are easy to pay, but they also work with you on personalized payment plans to ensure the client is comfortable throughout the entire process. Consulting with Michael has been seamless and educating. We will absolutely be working with Smith-Bucy Construction on future projects as well; kitchen remodeling, deck renovation, landscaping, etc.
