Everytime I come here I am met with rude staff. The first issue I ever had with them I had to stop my membership for a while. They told me it was taken care of and come to find out they kept charging me and wouldn’t do anything about it. A couple years later, I decided to try them out again, I came in to ask about help on using my membership and I was talked to like I was an idiot and told nothing but, “I don’t know how to help you.”

Not too shabby for what it is, deserves a 2 1/2but that doesn't exist so I'm being nice with a 3. A few of the employees are rude.Some new equipment, some very old (mainly free weights are old)Doesn't have a pool, or a sauna or even an indoor basketball court; don't get why it wasn't made the same.Also don't get why we're charged the same as the other YMCA, yea I understand I can go to other YMCA's blah blah blah. But I live 7 minutes from this one, 27 to the next closest one, at that point I'd go to Perfect workout.So it's a "good if it's convenient" gym, other than that wouldn't give it a second look if there was more options around.

Great place! We are always greeted when we arrive for summer camp in the morning. My 11yr old son really enjoys the summer camp program, new friends and counselors.

I was a member in Hickory NC! Loved the out door pool in summer for outdoor classes and inside water class! Dr wants me in water I'm 60and have fribromilga and osteoarthritis ! Loves it have looked around Taylorsville went to staveville NC and Iredell NC have low income and can't Afford monthly payments takes all I have for home ! I walk a lot but wld love to keep my ! My insurance I dnt Have silver sneakers because I wnt give a dr up!! So maybe I will see and visit Ty have blessed day!

I love the personal experience you get from the moment you walk in the door. Everyone is very approachable and the staff always seems very happy to answer any questions as well as educate you on programs that are open for your specific needs. I love that they have a Cancer patient/survivor health program too! I didn't know such thing existed, but after explaining what I needed as far as workouts while recovering they told me about it! I am so glad I decided to check them out! I've gone to yoga, cycle, FUNtional fitness, and pound it so far. All great classes! Everyone should check them out!

Old equipment, which is not a problem, the problem is that has not be maintained very well. They need new equipment or better maintenance on the old. Plus, for the amount of space available, they need a larger weight room.

It is a new YMCA but very very small and needs the same amenities as the other YMCA s for the price . Dont know why it wasnt made the same as other YMCAs and yes it needs a pool more ppl would purchase a membership I know I would !

I was in town visiting my folks, and needed somewhere to workout. I have a Y membership so I was happy to see one less than 10 minutes away. I walked in and explained that I had a Y membership elsewhere and asked to use the facilities. They typed some stuff on the computer and checked us in easy peasy. The locker room leaves a lot to be desired. Basic middle school lockers with minimal amenities. Basic shower with curtain and small wooden benches. The workout facilities themselves were pretty nice. None of the treadmills or other cardio equipment had tv's attached to the apparatuses, but there were several tvs around the exterior of the room. I was able to get a treadmill under one of the tvs and was satisfied. I have to say that this is the most fastidious facility I have been to. There were no less than two people constantly wiping down equipment or sweeping the floors. I am not sure if they always do that or if it was a super slow day (looked fairly busy to me) but I appreciated the effort toward cleanliness. I am looking forward to my next visit when back in town.

The Alexander County Family YMCA provides a friendly workout environment with courteous, professional staff in a state-of-the-art facility. Equipment includes treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical machines, weight machines, free weights, spin class, and more. There is also a half-mile outdoor track. Get in shape at the Y!
