I’m 49 years old. Originally from Sylva but have lived all over the country. Came back home in 2019. Since 2019 I have had nothing but problems with this post office. It is simply put the worst ran, worst managed and laziest group of postal personnel I’ve ever dealt with.
Someone above them needs to take a hard look at the absolute bullshit that goes on there (just one example) is they placed our wedding invitations in another home’s mailbox and then when questioned directly gave us a ridiculous run around about it stating they’d find the package and get back to us…. this went on for nearly two weeks before the individuals who had it placed in their box brought it to our place and gave it to us.
You can never get anyone on the phone here and going in and talking to someone is nearly as unproductive because the moment they realize they have once again screwed something up or been lazy (with an example being that instead of walking a package to your porch, they’ll leave a card for you to come pick it up & good luck with their bullshit hours they don’t even follow). instead of owning it and making it right, they’ll simply go to the back and wait until you leave.
Whoever is in charge of this mess has no business being in charge of anything that doesn’t have to do with sweeping, mopping or supersizing.

Worst experience with a post office I have ever had. I live on a regular paved road and the delivery drivers just refuse to deliver packages to my door. They always state “mailbox full.” Well of course, most packages are not going to fit in a mailbox. I am a new mom and recently made an Amazon baby registry. It has been a huge inconvenience to have to travel to the post office to pick up each individual package because of their incompetence. From other reviews, I see I am not the only one experiencing this issue. Something needs to be done about the post office in Sylva ASAP.

If I could give 0 stars I would! They will not even try to deliver Amazon packages, say mailbox is full and I go check & guess what not a single piece of mail in there, they will not put on the porch either. Then when trying to call the post office location they will never answer the phone. Useless.

Awful. 2 of my packages that were "delivered" are NOWHERE to be found. Called the post office 4 times before getting greeted with someone very rude basically telling me oh it's been delivered and that was the end of the conversation didn't bother to help didn't offer no solutions didn't bother to look in the back or find and contact the carrier to find out what happened. I really really needed these packages I'm a mom and I don't spend alot on myself but I finally broke down and got shoes which I needed bc my only other pair are on there last limbs. I'm pregnant I needed comfy shoes took several weeks to get here so reordering them would take SO much time I'm so pissed about this. Customer service is bad, delivery doesn't seem to exist. Hearing alot of people say the carriers steal packages so tbh wouldn't surprise me.

For some reason they will not deliver my packages. I live on a normal road. I have a paved driveway. I have a huge parking area with super easy access to my house. Whenever I have someone mail something to me or Amazon ships with them, I have to go to the post office to pick it up. People pay them to deliver mail, but they won't do it.

I'm just visiting my grandparents for the summer and we ended up ordering some crafts from Amazon. I usually never experience any issues with Amazon shipping however, this time was the exception. Amazon uses USPS for delivery services in the area and that is where the problem lies. My package kept getting delayed for whatever reason and when it finally did get delivered, it was left right on top of the mailbox just wide open for anyone to take. Instead of being lazy as heck, they should have actually done their job and dropped off the package at the front door. I ordered the package for me and my grandparents only, not for some random person in the neighborhood although I'm sure they would have liked a little craft package. USPS please do much better next time!

Our Post Office in Sylva has some very good employees but are often not appreciated. I read customers reviews and they complain about service but they don’t stop to think that we are a very small town and there are many rural areas with private dirt roads. They do the best they can but when the roads are frozen and icy they can’t make it up them. The ones complaining should stop and think would they risk their lives going up these mountain roads all because you have a package you want today. I suggest you get in your vehicle and head to town on those same icy roads to get your package, is it really that important? Lastly, small town small post office doing the best they can. So…. move to the big city, leave all the beautiful country living behind and I’m pretty sure you’ll get your mail on time, as for me I’ll keep the country and head to the Post office when weather prevents the carrier from bringing my package way up a private dirt road to my doorstep! It’s called, “they do the best they can” !!

After weeks of going there for a package that said it was at this location, and being told it wasn't there, the package says it was delivered to someone who's not me.
This is after several years of always being told packages aren't there that are, and having packages and letters delivered to the wrong place, but this was $130 package and I'm going to be talking to them.

they were super nice and helpful! not sure why there's so many bad reviews. i had to send something overseas for the first time and they were really helpful and took their time to make sure everything was right.

Can you believe the audacity of other reviewers, calling mail carriers lazy as they sit on their entirely too fat behinds and order DESKS to be delivered to them? They are even too stupid to consider the fact that they are ordering so much with their fat behinds in the couch that every single day, packages are left behind because they can’t possibly fit every package in their personal vehicles, which they use to bring you your mail. Something those wonderful fed ex and UPS guys DONT have to do, while in some cases making double what your MAIL CARRIERS are making.
So maybe, when you can’t even motivate your pathetic selves to go to the store and buy toilet paper, consider that time, space, and patience for you people are very much limited.
