The store itself is nice and has alot of good options for buying. The customer service was just awful. I went there with a friend and her 9 month old. As we were were checking out the 9 month old was playing with some plastic hangers that were hanging next to the checkout. The cashier stopped serving her customer to go out of her way to scold us on how unsafe our child was being with the PLASTIC hangers. We removed the child from the hangers and then watched as another person at checkout was putting a medical bandage onto the cashiers arm while they were still working the register which was a bit unsanitary. I checkouted before my friend and then took the baby outside to wait for my friend to checkout. The cashier then begins to talk badly about the child and i WHILE SHE WAS CHECKING OUT MY FRIEND. We were clearly together as we shared a cart. Then as my friend was buying a play baby crib for baby dolls she made sure to let her know that the play crib is not for real babies insinuating we were putting our child in it. Next time we go, if we go back, we will stay clear from Louise.

I haven't been in as a matter of principle but decided to stop today as I was looking for shelves to use for plants. The outside was cluttered with things that were overpriced and overused, and weather-worn. It's a shame they price used, donated items at the cost of new items. It redoubled my decision not to shop there.

Very overpriced ! I donated and then went next week and saw some of what I donated and they wanted more for it than I paid brand new. Saw a pet blanket from dollar tree they wanted 5.00 for it. Very over priced. They would sell so much more if they would realize that this stuff is used. They would raise so much more money for charity. Lower your prices. I heard that it used to be a reasonable place but new person and now crazy. Furniture outside they rather it ruin than put reasonable. Sad.

Been going to the Hem for awhile and met the new manager Cindy who is very sweet in the furniture area. Things are really looking good and the new items for sale table is a nice addition.

A friend referred me to this place. Called to get just general information about what they do or sell there. The woman who answered, when asked what they do or sell there, replied they sold clothing, furniture, housewares etc. Then asked, is that at a discount or ?...She then replied yes at a discount then abruptly hung up on me before I could asked anymore questions. Like I was interrupting her day by asking silly questions. I am not from here and over fifty miles from this place. Before I venture to go somewhere I don't know, need some info that tells me it it will be worth the trip. Woman was very was very rude and disrespectful. At Christmas time? Wow. Don't bother. Fake staff. Totally disappointed.P.S. Adjustment to this review. 1 star!!!. Although I am a Christian and have read entire Bible I was not familiar with this term. Apparently, the question would be asked, How do you get closer to Jesus? Grab on to the "Hem of his Garment." Found out later that this is a Church sponsored store, much like the Salvation Army stores. Now I am even more disappointed. SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE!!!

I’ve been going here for over 20 years. The staff is always helpful. The shop is clean. There have been lots of recent improvements and it is great to see this place thriving.

Overall this thrift store is a good stop to wander around through and there are many good deals to be had. This thrift store is run by volunteers which is great but I feel like it can be inconsistent due to this. Pricing is based on item type instead of individual item which is good and bad. Sometimes things can be more expensive than it's worth or you get lucky and it's vise versa. Additionally items are semi organized within the store in sections. Furniture in the back, wares, holiday, children, books, etc. Sizing for clothing is separated but things get put back in the wrong places pretty often so I wouldn't take it at face value. Unfortunately the hours of operation are kind of short which makes it hard to visit if you have a regular day job. I usually make a point to come on Saturdays when I have free time.

I wanted to give them one more chance since I used to come here all the time, but I just can't. Their prices have gotten so outrageous over these past few years. While the workers and volunteers may be nice, that doesn't make up for the huge price increases. They wanted to sell this used, fair (not good) conditioned papasan rocker for $850!!!! And this regular every day rocking chair for $100!!! This is a THRIFT store. Not an antique store. If they're going to charge these kinds of prices they need to change what type of business they have.

Always been a fun time and has been a beach trip tradition for my family. Staff is always very nice and helpful! Would also like to mention that unfortunately when I was leaving another customer unfortunately made a very rude remark towards me and my family as I was trying to hold the door for her, so I walked away laughing and making a rude hand gesture at her - it however could've looked like I was making the gesture at the store itself which is absolutely not the case, in the off chance the volunteer at the front desk who might've seen the interaction ever sees this. Definitely a big recommend!

Very friendly service. Clean. My only complaint is that anything with a 'name brand' logo had a significant mark up. But overall we enjoyed our experience there and would definitely patronize again.

Five star service. Everyone wanted to help. Got an awesome Lay-Z-Boy for $200 MINT. Also donated clean unworn clothes here in the past for tax rebates. God Bless! Much appreciated. $25 deliveries but I did it myself this time.

Had nice stuff but I believe they overcharged me. (My fault for not noticing till I got home I guess) I bought 2 one dollar bowls, a .25 cent spidermen bowl and a dress for my toddler. All of that came up to 10.00 and some change I didn’t ask for a receipt cause I wasn’t going to return anything but I should have. So unless the dress for my 1 year old was 7.00 then I was absolutely overcharged. But they did have some really good stuff and the place was clean.Update: Found the piece of paper she gave me and I was overcharged! The 5.20 house wear is what’s wrong with this. Two 1.00 bowls like I said, but instead of .25 cents for the spiderman bowl now cost me 5.20. I had 5.00 in my hand and I thought it was weird it cost so much. My fault I guess for not realizing it sooner.

I don't understand the pricing at the Hem, it's so all over the place $30 for a used jewelry box?

I did find a few items that were missed by the eBay price check before being put out on the shelf. The furniture items were way overpriced for the quality. I have been told by a local business that rents to second-hand sellers that there are vendors in her business that work at this thrift store. You can't always trust a source, but I tend to believe it when a cashier was surprised by an item I found and asked where I found it in the store. I'm really confused about how they help the community as there is no information board showing what portion of proceeds go back into the community. The outside furniture is weather damaged and overpriced based on the condition.
