Always come back to this place - owner is an awesome gentleman and local surfer. Been coming here since the 90s and can even remember when the arcade was underneath. Although certain brands have come and gone over time (that’s normal business), the integrity of this store remains true. It has to be tough battling larger selections down Wilmington way and the ever-present online retail gobbling possible sales, but this family shop has weathered all the storms (and literal hurricanes!) and is still going strong. You KNOW it’s a great place when they are catching the surf competitions in the office when customers leave. I make it a point to shop here and buy local during any vacation or trip and I recommend any casual or hardcore surfer does as well. I also went as far as trying to order an awesome BZ Bodyboard that had some really sweet colors and Stephen really went far to try and ship it up to PA for me. Although it didn’t work out, it just goes to show that they are willing to go the extra mile for any customer that wants to support their business. Just bought a new rash guard from the shop, thanks for sharing the stoke guys!

So we parked at this business since they were closed and there were only 2 cars in the lot. It was 7:30 and the lights were off and the door was locked.We went next doors to have dinner and when we returned some dude approached me and said that they were going to start towing cars that park there after hours. This is no way to run a business. If he was so concerned about people parking after they close at 7:30 they should rope off the parking lot. They really should be more concerned with fixing th ginormous potholes in their lot. I would never purchase anything from this business.

According to the hours they are supposed to open at 10am Sunday waited outside and called until 10.45am and they never opened or answered the phone my son was upset we couldn't buy him the jacket he wanted

This place is NEVER OPEN. Maybe it's awesome but sadly iv never been able to experience it. I have legit come 5 times during normal business hours and each time they've been closed when Google says they are open.

I went in looking to surfboard unsure of what I was looking for as a first time buyer. The man working was extremely helpful and asked me all sorts of questions to find the perfect fit. I’ve been surfing lots over the past weeks and am very happy with my new board.

I came back to the area recently and was out an about checking out the places I used to go while stationed in the area. I loved coming down to Surf city and stopping in the Spinnaker Surf Shop, back then the Owner 'Sally' and her husband ran the shop. Now their oldest son has taken the reins. This is a great hometown, personable local shop, great service and advice. You can go to the chain places and deal with someone different every time who wants you in and out. This place will not pressure you, will chat about the weather, the surf, the right board for you, heck even what board shorts are best and cost effective. They will do what they can to make your visit a great experience. Stop in and at least browse the store and say hello, such a friendly atmosphere.

I bought a surfboard from Spinnaker and the guy helping me out was super chill, didn't try to up-sell me, and I was fully satisfied with the board I walked out with. I enjoy supporting local businesses that are as clean and well run as Spinnaker.
