This 'salon' advertises itself as something special, it is anything but. Overpriced, rushed service and not very friendly. Save your money and go elsewhere. Will never go back.

I cannot say enough great things about Julie. She is incredibly talented with both color and cuts. She listens, gives advice and takes her time to make sure she gives you exactly what you want. At my last visit, I decided to go with a shorter haircut. She did a phenomenal job! I absolutely love the color and the cut. Thank you Julie!!!!!

First time to this salon-I walked in and a lady came from around the corner and asked me who was I there to see. I forgot the name and said I was there for an 11:30 appt. The lady said "well we don't have a reception area because we're in construction" even though there was chair in front of me. No Hello, how are you, afternoon, you can sit here...I was shocked at the prices as they were higher than I had ever seen. Starting price for foil and cut $185.00 just a starting point according to their literature. I told the stylist what had occurred and she said "that is the owner". I said it was not professional especially for an owner. We talked about the prices and I said I would treat myself today. She said "great and maybe you'll like it and come back". She put a cape on me, washed my hair and said she had to go and mix the color. While I waited, the original lady came in and sat down next to me and said "Tina told me you had issues." I explained to her what my perception was. She became very combative and offered no apology. She said she was not short or rude to me "as she has it on camera". She mentioned her cameras three times. She said and you have an issue with the price. Now this is booth rental plain and simple. Each stylist sets their fees and I said I am not going to discuss it as Tina and I have already talked about it and she sets her own fees. She then told me I was not supposed to just come into the salon and there is sign on the door that says that. I said I did not see it but maybe I should have been told when I booked the appt. She said and "we email blasted to everyone and if you didn't get it then you opted out." I told her I did not received anything. Finally, I said well I can leave and she said "please do". She then stood up and was coming towards my back and I said Please do not touch me. She said "well this is my property and I'm getting it" meaning the cape. I said I will remove it. As I was about to leave, I realized my hair was soaking wet and I said what about my wet hair to which she said "I asked you to leave and I will call law enforcement if I have to". I told her go ahead for what? Needless to say, save you money unless you want to be treated like the above!

I had the best experience here! I wanted to do something different with my hair... Needless to say, I ended up getting 3 haircuts in one day and Julie was so patient with me and she made every effort to make sure everything was symmetrical. I absolutely adore the end result and am so grateful that she never once made me feel like she was trying to rush through the cut, even though I'm sure she was ready for me to go ?! I will definitely be going back to Julie - as long as she'll have me!

Highly recommend Gracie! She is amazing! She made my hair beautiful for my wedding. Gracie was professional, sweet, friendly, and overall took her time with me. This was my first time at the Refinery, super chic and cute salon!

I have had my hair done by both the owner, Katie, and Julie. I was more than thankful for the way both of them brought my hair back to life and made me feel so confident about myself. Katie is so sweet, hilarious, and has made major improvements with the space - I always enjoy our conversation while in her chair. Julie was outgoing and decisive in knowing just what my hair needed. 1000% worth the out of town drive for me. I wanted to buy all the products and hair accessories!! Thank you to the Refinery and wonderful staff for always making me feel like me again.

Tina is fantastic!! She listens and takes her time with the cut.I have thick, curly hair and she gave me one of the best haircuts ever!It’s a very cute shop at the edge of Southport.Definitely recommend!!! ?

Amazing experience!!! I’ve been a quest to find a GREAT stylist since moving to the Carolina’s 2 years ago . After having a bad one for the last time I waited over a year to do my hair . I have curly hair and I thought that might be the challenge for most stylists in this area . One day a pic popped up on my instagram of really cute salon and I jumped onto their page and it turned out to be The Refinery . I took a chance and filled out the new client questionnaire and within ten mins Julie called and texted me saying she was willing to take me as a new client ! I was nervous but excited about maybe finding the “right spot “. I decided it was time to change my color from blonde to cowboy copper and Julie was up for the challenge.We had the best time together and my cut and color came out beyond my expectations!!! She worked and took her time until the color was just right and really made my experience so fun !!! She is amazing with curly hair as well so for all you girls with curls she knows how to cut and style for you !!! Book an appointment you won’t be disappointed!!!
