It is with sadness that I write this review. My dog Jake has been a patient here for about 4 years. This past year he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and was given a prescription for Vetmedin that he will need to be on for the remainder of his life. It is a fairly expensive medicine and I was able to locate it online from a location in California. This resulted in an almost 50% cost savings over what Pinehurst Animal Hospital was charging me for the same medication. Jake has been on this medication for about 6 months. At the start of this year my California vet told me that PAH would no longer approve my RX online? This seemed odd as it had been working well for almost 6 months. I contacted PAH and they told me that had a new policy and they would no longer work with online vets for prescriptions. I would need to buy it from them (at their inflated prices) or I would need to inconvenience myself each month to request a PAPER prescription that I would need to mail to California. This was totally unacceptable to me and I was so disappointed that they are more concerned about their bottom line than the health and well being of my precious dog Jake. I immediately contacted other Vets in our area and PInetree Animal Hospital on Hwy 5 in Abderdeen was more than willing to help me secure my prescriptions from where I wanted to get Jake's meds in California.

Can't say enough about Dr. Ioppolo and his staff!! My two 9 month old pups have stayed in the boarding area twice this month in their Saturday night to Sunday afternoon program! The vet techs, Hailey and Rebecca were on both weekends. They could not have been kinder and made me feel so much better about having to leave them! They showed me the area where they would be staying as well as their outside area! The puppies were thrilled to go back the second time! They come home tired but happy, not stressed! Love these ladies and Pinehurst Animal Hospital! Donna Neal

I'm going to keep this to the point, I will never bring my dog back to this clinic. I've been going to this animal hospital for about six months now and decided to call it quits after my last visit, yesterday. The older vet tech lady, heavyset with dark hair, was very aggressive with my dog right in front of me. After telling her that she needed to stop being aggressive with my dog. I had expressed concern at the front desk and requested for a different vet tech to provide the services that my dog was there for. After dropping my dog off, five minutes later, I received a call from the assistant manager asking what had happened. I explained the situation and my preference for a different vet tech since my experience with the heavyset dark haired vet tech was disturbing. The assistant manager proceeded to tell me how wonderful this abusive vet tech was and sang her praises...which may have been her experience but definitely was not mine. The assistant manager proceeded to gaslight me by telling me that my dog is "non-compliant", he needs to go through dog training, etc. and that was why the older heavyset dark haired vet tech had to be abusive to my dog. It is laughable to think that my dog would ever be "non-compliant" considering the fact he is a registered PTSD service dog and is extremely well behaved; which is the exact opposite of "non-compliant". And, if my dog is so "non-compliant" why was this never mentioned in the six months I had been going to this clinic until the moment I decided to make a complaint??? If my service dog actually was "non-compliant" what kind of torture was this clinic putting my dog through to cause him to behave out of character?? Long story short, I was told that I would be charged $75 extra dollars for the provided services due to my dog being "non-compliant", aka having made a complaint. If anyone decides that they need to make a complaint, expect to be gaslighted by the assistant manager and charged extra money for making a justified complaint. Or, you could just save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

Dropped dog off for his annual dental cleaning. Took a peek in his mouth and was informed that he needed a back tooth (for sure) to be removed. Never received a follow-up call like I've had from other practices. When I called to check on him, they said he was "ok and had some extractions." When I asked for specifics, I was informed 10 teeth were removed! 10! I would have expected "the best of the pines" to have given me, the owner, a courtesy call that a couple of teeth had in fact turned into 10 and to be prepared for a significant increase in amount due! No apology until the office manager called- all in all, it's not "policy" to step away from an animal to let the owner know that significant changes were to be made. Assumptions, she said, were made that we wouldn't have a problem with it or the cost (which was $1600)! Very disappointed with HOW the situation was handled! A simple phone call/heads up/prepare for unexpected costs would have gone a long way!!!!!

Absolutely phenomenal drs. After a horrific few experiences at our previous vet of the past 9 years I asked around. I heard wonderful things about Pinehurst Animal Hospital and it seemed to keep coming up when I asked for recommendations. So glad I made the switch. Our vet tech was so friendly and kind, and we had Dr Dana Means and I could not have asked for a better vet. Immediately walked in and was so kind and loving to my 2 female dogs. She was well informed and knowledgeable, explained to me in layman's terms of things going on with them and how to treat it. I am blown away, thank you for showing true compassion and care for my version of children.

Dr.Means cares and take her time with Tuck. He feels well loved. I feel like he is in good hands. Works hand in hand with his specialists at MC State and they are not afraid to suggest follow up there.

Staff was so kind and informative. Office was extremely clean and the smell was nothing of a vets office. Tech talked with me and let me decide if I wanted to see the vet after he looked at my pets for their wasp stings. I was able to leave with peace of mind and no money out of my pocket! Highly recommend!

Great first experience for our new puppy! It's been a while since we've had a family pet so we needed some advice which the vet tech provided. Everyone was friendly and professional, the faculty was clean and spacious and prices were so reasonable. Highly recommend Pinehurst Animal Hospital!

Dr. Ioppolo came out to talk to me, wearing a mask of course, and he was so nice and took the time to talk to me about my concerns. He didn't try to sell me their food when we spoke of diet and switching her from puppy food to adult. In short, service was prompt, and you can tell he and the staff truly care about our pets. I love this place!

Absolutely wonderful Vet! Went there for an emergency for my 1 yr old male cat with an obstructed bladder that was about to burst. They took wonderful care of him and me. They immediately took him in and saved his life, although we had never been there before. I appreciate how much the staff and vets love the animal and care for them first, and paperwork second. They also called to follow up on his aftercare, and kept me updated throughout his ordeal. I can never thank them enough!!
