Despite having a three week advance appointment, office did not notify us that one of two vaccines were "back ordered". Really frustrated with lack of respect for time, travel and expense. Also cats removed from our presence for administering vaccines.

Service is excellent, prices are a little high. Dr. Ward is worth it!!! Always accommodating when you have an emergency.

This office was amazing at fitting us in at the last moment, doing a thorough and caring check up, working with me to be realistic about the limits of our budget for care, and even being patient with our follow up questions and thorough with their answers! Definitely would recommend this office to other pet owners!

I absolutely love everyone here at Johnston Animal Hospital. They care about my furbaby like their own. Ryder, doesn't want for anything whole he's there for daycare or boarding. Nothing like having a home away from home for my furbaby ❤️

I have been coming to Johnston Animal Hospital for a year now and they are exceptional. Every appointment my pets and I are greeted with smiles and they make you feel comfortable being there. You can tell that the staff honestly love doing their jobs. Both Dr. Ward and Dr. Potter are lovely. They talk very gently (especially when your pet is frightened) and they make sure you really understand the health plans for your pet now and in the future. The assistants and nurses are always very friendly and efficient. This place has exceeded every expectation I have had!

If I could rate this place less than one star, I would. Took my dog here for a checkup to get all of her shots updated as well as on heartworm prevention and flea/tick. They did a full blood work panel, including for heartworms. Turns out, she was very healthy and a happy dog. Except one thing, when I got a call a few days later telling me that my dog was positive for heartworms. I was at work when I received this call. I was totally in distress after hearing the news. The veterinarian who called me told me “not to worry about the heartworms right now.” He was more concerned with a lump that she has. He wanted to get a $400 biopsy after I was charged about $600 in total for all of her shots and tests. All of this in the span of a week. I couldn’t afford that. For 3 months after, the amount of mental stress and depression that I endured trying to figure out how in the world I was going to pay for a $2000 treatment for heartworms out of pocket, because they don’t take care credit or anything other than regular debit/credit/cash. I was a mess, for months. Well, finally after 3 months, I decided I wanted to get a second opinion. 2 days ago, I made an appointment with another vet that DOES take care credit. Got her re-tested for heartworms. And it came back negative. Not only did this new vet do the test DURING my appointment, he handed me the negative test and showed it to me. I couldn’t believe it. How does my dog get a positive test, and then 3 months later after the worms would have grown, get a negative test? Another thing I would like to add, is that I was told “not to give my dog the heartworm prevention if she had heartworms because it would make her very sick.” I gave my dog the heartworm prevention as soon as I got home from my 2nd opinion appointment, and it’s been two days. My dog is not sick. My dog never had heartworms. I don’t know what kind of money grab these people are working here, but I will NOT be back. And I recommend you reconsider taking your precious animals here.

Very nice new facility. I appreciate that Dr. Ward was able to see us when we called on a work in. Our kitten O’Malley had stolen a pancake from my grandson and thought it would be a good idea to run into the kitchen to eat it where our food crazy dog Thelma was. Well Thelma thought he brought her the pancake so she quickly snatched it out of O’Malley’s mouth leaving a gash in his lip. Luckily the tear didn’t need stitches but Dr. Ward kindly gave him a shot of antibiotics and pain meds. O’Malley had actually ripped hi lip more after I put him in his travel crate. After I got inside Johnston Animal Hospital O’Malley calmed down and was purring because they use the plug in pheromones to help calm your pets. Everyone was very nice and caring. Again, we are very thankful they were able to see us the same day. O’Malley is healing up good.

Processes are not user friendly and staff is very uncaring. Vet told me verbally to come back if medication helped and they would give me a refill (but didn't write refill on bottle)... I messaged through website, made multiple phone calls, and finally visited on site. But I was told the Vet hadn't got to it and all staff had to go into a meeting for the afternoon. The medication, an NSAID, was to help make a very old dog on Hospice more comfortable. I was unable to get the refill... my dog died the next day.

I had been looking to switch to this veterinary hospital for quite some time - and I am so glad that I finally did!Dr. Ward and the team are very friendly and thorough. After just this one visit, they diagnosed and addressed what was going on with the health of my pup that took my previous vet numerous months with no answers. Dr. Ward called with updates and explained everything very well leaving no unturned questions on my end. You can tell everyone here cares even within the first 5min of the appointment - that is a huge plus for me.I highly recommend Johnston Animal Hospital, Dr. Ward and the team.

Do not take your dog here, especially to see Dr. Potter. His only concern are cats and will make it known to you (and said verbally) that your animal is not his only concern even while being a senior dog, having not eaten for a week, and being lethargic. Do not take your loved ones here. They will rack up charges and a bill and still have no answers for you, nor any remorse or concern. Their pet is now on comfort care and spending his final days at home. Please reconsider taking your fur babies here!

My wife and I bring our dog Loki to the hospital because she broke her tooth. They packed her tooth and we left. She had very little energy after her appointment and she’s usually super playful. She wouldn’t eat or drink. We called the office back multiple times and when we finally got a hold of the doctor we set up setting an appointment for the next day for surgery. That night she started crying and breathing funny so we tried to hurry to Raleigh emergency vet hospital but she didn’t make it and she died. I don’t know what happened but she was fine before we took her to this hospital.
