Went to pick up a prescription, was told they were running behind with it, and that it should be ready for pick up in twenty minutes. So, I waited for twenty minutes, came back, and stood in line again… only to be told that actually it was out of stock. Maybe check that before having your customer waste so much time!

Let me preface this by saying that I’ve been to this Walgreens location a good handful of times and had a great experience each time.Today’s experience was different. It was surprising, awkward, and even felt hurtful. What happened is that I came inside the store to pick up an order. There were three different women (two older white women and one younger woman who appeared to be a person of color) behind the check-out counter, so I wasn’t sure who to go to.All three of them looked at me, and then one of the older white women said to the younger lady, “You should help her—you look like you know her language.”Even in a world in which I try my hardest to assume positive intent and that this was playful banter between coworkers, it STILL felt uncalled for, for the simple fact that I had not spoken yet.So this woman made an assumption based on what? The clothing I wore? The color of my skin? She made an assumption based not only on my appearance, but on the way her younger coworker looked too.It would be a different story if I had been struggling to communicate in English OR if I had requested help directly, but this was not the case. The younger woman just exasperatedly said, “Oh my god” as if she were annoyed at the comment. Despite that, she greeted me very kindly and helped me with my order efficiently. If it were her alone, I would be rating this Walgreens location a million stars on Google. As it is, the older woman’s words (and the way the younger woman reacted, as if it was an old and offensive joke that was tiring to hear) stayed with me the rest of the day.Look, this is 2023. And I’ve grown up in Sanford for most of my life, so I know how small this town is, and how we’ve always desperately needed more diversity. But that is NOT an excuse for a community to stay close-minded, unaware, uneducated, and uncaring. I am tired of gritting my teeth, forcing a smile, and trying to be kind and understanding to strangers who don’t even afford me the same courtesy.Racist comments—even if they’re JOKES—need to stop. There is no place for them ANYWHERE. My heart breaks to think of my mother or my sister being in my place, and subjected to a hurtful comment like that. I think of other customers in this Walgreens location who may have had to unwittingly hear comments like this too, when most people are just running errands and trying to get through the day.But most of all, I think of that young lady who helped me today, and how unbearable it must be to have to go to work every day in this sort of toxic environment, where coworkers are unafraid to make racist, insensitive remarks. Because I can guarantee, comments like those are likely not a one-time thing.I hope she finds another job in a workplace that’s more welcoming and inclusive (in fact, there are other Walgreens in Sanford that have friendlier atmospheres)—because not even a raise or a promotion would be enough to keep me in this awful environment.***And to be clear, for that person who made that insensitive comment and the others that just stood by and watched, I’m not advocating for termination or disciplinary action, but EDUCATION. I’ve had workplaces implement Diversity and Inclusivity training programs, and they’re a good way to instill empathy and understanding. Walgreens is all about wellness, and they should help, educate, and invest in their employees—which will in turn help the surrounding community.

Went into Walgreens on August 2nd, in effort to purchase an ear wax removal kit that was suggested by my doctor after completing my annual physical the day before. Entered the store and went to the ear health section, took up the item (ear wax removal kit) and proceed to check out. Once at the cue, there were two females ahead of me, one in the process of checking out with the cashier, and the other waiting. While I am waiting, "mind you with only the single item (ear wax removal kit)", another female customer joined the cue with multiple items (with 4 items). The cashier then announced over the P.A. (public audio) system that another cashier is needed at the checkout counter due to the buildup, the lady ahead of me stated we can go ahead of her, due to the fact that, she had a cart of items. To my surprise, the cashier, (older lady wearing glasses, about 5 feet 4 inches height), for some reason I cannot fathom, decided to signal the lady behind me, who had multiple items, by herself and no kids, to come to the front of the line and checked her out. Now, mind you, I am a tall guy, 6 feet 2 inches, so this lady had to have seen me with the single item I had. When I engaged her and told her that was very disrespectful, and extremely poor customer service, her defense was that she called for help over the P.A. I have been in customer service for a long time, and I can assure, that's not the way to do it. For that reason, I won't ever shop at any Walgreen's again, nor will I have my wife or twin boys' medication/prescription be filled there. They are currently assigned to Walgreen's for medication etc. All of that will be removed. If there was a way to give no stars I would do it.In the end I placed the item on the counter, left and went to CVS instead. I posted the CVS receipt (below), to prove that I actually went and purchased this item.

The pharmacist, Randy was beyond polite and accommodating! He went above and beyond to assist me with my prescription. I would highly recommend this Walgreens.

This is a horrible Walgreens pharmacy. There are plenty of staff but nobody is willing to help. I had an appointment at 2:15 pm and was the only customer in the store. I was not seen until 2:53 pm. We were told that the pharmacist was still on lunch because he didn't know he had an appointment because he only checks his appointments/email at 8 am. I made my appointment at 8:50 am so I guess I was too late. I then was waiting for my test results that were supposed to take 2 hours to receive. At the 3 1/2 mark I decided to call and was put on hold for so long that the call automatically ended. After calling back the lady on the phone was very uneducated about the test and questions I had about it. They said they had my results but their system was down so they can't send my results via email. I had to drive to get the results printed. Horrible experience and will NOT be returning.

This is like the 3rd time I’ve waited in line, told they were filling it that second, come back in 30, and when I come back for the second time they say they are out of stock and I can’t get it till Friday. This is the 3rd time. How hard is it for a pharmacy to stay adequately stocked? It’s so frustrating to now have to come back a 3rd and 4th time for the 4 total time having to deal with them being out of stock after telling me come back in 30 mins. In 30 mins they outsold my medicine from under me I guess.

Don't keep prescription meds in stock. When meds are ordered they don't arrive for weeks. When patients run out of meds they just stonewall. Many workers are rude and others are not well trained. Since the pandemic this place is a mess. Closed on weekends.
