This is a gem in the mountains but if you are looking for a modern boutique hotel this is not it. We got a classic king room, which is not updated. It's perfectly fine and the price was right. I was disappointed to hear that the restaurant is not open right now due to some unfortunate circumstances, but we still enjoyed our stay. The room we stayed out was large and had older furniture and outlets. If you need to use an outlet, I'd recommend bringing a portable charging station. We carry one when we travel hat in case and this was a good time to have it bc the outlets are from the 50s and there are not many to use. The wood paneling on the wall next to the bed was a vibe and there was even a space heater in the bathroom from the 50s that still works. The bed was a little more of a firm mattress. I think the updated rooms might have cushier mattresses but I'm not sure bc I haven't stayed in one yet. This is a family owned business so you probably aren't going to get 24/7 access to the front desk, but you will get your privacy. The doors lock behind you automatically so just be aware. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

It wasn't as bad as I thought when I first walked in the room. Stayed a few days on a work trip. Host was actually pretty good. Property is in a bit of disrepair honestly... But it wasn't a family trip or anything and the location was great, so it worked fine for me. If you have high expectations, you'll be disappointed.

Amazing food in the restaurant and clean, comfortable rooms. I highly recommend the filet mignon and a good bottle of red wine.Nearby activities: The hotel is surrounded by three gorgeous country clubs, each with their own unique courses including Roaring Gap Club which boasts a course designed by famed golf course architect and designer Donald Ross of Scotland who designed many of the courses the PGA tour has made famous including Pinehurst in eastern North Carolina.Food & drinks: Hand cut steaks and incredible pastas and sauces with a great wine selection

Ok for short stay. Place is clean. Don't expect anything 21st century. If you think you will need to charge a device, be sure to bring a plug, there are no USB ports. No indication one could find a hair dryer by asking owner. TV reception spotty.

Beds were sunken in the middle. No hair dryer and very limited TV channels. There is nowhere to eat breakfast or get coffee. I had to go to Elkin. Their restaurant opens at 5pm. I was hungry because the only other place to get something to eat was the country store. They have sandwiches but they were out of food. So I went to the hotel restaurant for dinner. I ordered Chicken Piccata. It was en editable. Literally. I did try even thought it looked bad. I could not chew it. I had to spit it out and it didn't have any chew damage to it! They must have taken it out of the freezer and cooked it in the microwave. I had to send it back and i just ate the bread with my wine. Bread was not good either. Served loaded with lots of garlic powder and no butter. The couple who own this are very nice. I feel sorry for them. Must be stuck there doing the bast they can.
