We have gone there when two of our dogs were in need of a hospital. They are very professional and caring. We recommend them to any animal owner who loves their pet!

I attempted to take my cat to the after hours care this evening. website signs and voicemail all say they are open until midnight. After 5 solid minutes of ringing the bell and calling the number on the door no one came. I know people were there cars in the parking lot. guess my emergency was just too late and they did not want to come to the door. I will never take any of my animals to this facility again. Had to give a one star review since negative is not an option.

They were knowledgeable, friendly, and careful with my BabyJ. She was hit by a truck and was rushed to them. They took very good care of her.

I would give no stars if possible. The staff here is extremely rude. One of the vet techs was cussing at the receptionist before taking my dog back for a check up. She proceeded to be very rude once she took us back. The vet was also very unprofessional. This vet hospital used to be great as I have always taken my dogs here but it has gone down hill. No longer going here and definitely do NOT recommend.

If I could give them a zero rating I would. My dog is 12 years old and a diabetic. This is not the 1st time this has happened and if I could get him insurance somewhere else I would. This place is a joke. I went online to their portal to view my dogs lab results and of course you can't look at them. So, I called to get them to email me his result. When I called their office at 10:30am I was placed on hold for 20 minutes (Stephanie) which she is very rude and unprofessional. Only to be told that the Dr would have to call and speak with me before they can send them to me. Which is the craziest thing I have ever heard. Then, about 3 minutes after getting off the phone they send them to me. I look at those results and his blood sugar was over 600. They received his results this morning way before I called and NO ONE called me about these results I truly feel like had I not called them it would have been Monday before anyone called me about his blood sugar. The other part to this is I pay 1200.00 a year to have pet insurance on him.!! And I also get his insulin from them and needles which is about $100.00 monthly. So with that being said I would warn anyone that has a pet and is thinking of taken you animal to this place. This is not the first issue I have had with them. I also have 2 very good friends that have taken there dogs to this place that have had very very bad experiences there. If my dog wasnt a diabetic I would have already canned this place. So, this is a warning for people that if you love your pet like I do mine. Get out while your dog is in good health.

Do NOT use this emergency vet. I will start by saying I checked the website and called prior to leaving my home to go to this vet. We got there at 10PM which is before the midnight time as stated on the website/phone message. The nice person running the counter took us in, took our info, and took my car back to start being checked. They came back shortly after to tell me they had actually closed at 8 and that had only started a few weeks prior. They were unsure if a vet was available but one still did happen to be there. When the vet came in to see us, they were more concerned about them being closed and what the website/phone said than the well-being of my cat. I would have gladly left to go somewhere else but they seemed to want to help. Many tests could not be ran that were needed as no one else was still there so they basically winged it and told me to see my regular vet. Before leaving I was then questioned again about the website and phone message. I truly felt that was more important than helping us. Also the vet was more concerned about me having a male in house only cat who wasn't neutered yet. She said she had cats of her own, but I wouldn't think by how she acted that she even liked animals or even people. So $550 and I still had to get actual care from my own vet. Emergencies happen and they deserve the same care as if they were a regular patient. I had no control over their information being wrong and they could have told us we needed to leave. Do better for our fur babies.

I serioulsy hope that noone has an emergency and has to bring their animal here late at night. This place is horrific! I am still shocked at how the vet treated me in the waiting room last night as I held my sick pup in my arms. She was confrontational with a such an unprofessional attitude and literally postured at me. Under no circumstance should anyone be treated like that, let alone when you are dealing with the stress of a sick pup. When I mentioned thay all the bad reviews made sense, she gloated that none of the bad reviews were about her and that there were 6 other vets at the practice. Well, here's your first one. You can literally tell the atmosphere of this place from their own responses to those making poor reviews. Extremely unprofessional ... I can't even believe it!!

We took our Westie here after she had a serious heart episode, complicated by pulmonary fibrosis. We were charged $600 for xrays that our REAL vet had to order again the next day. Our real complaint is against DR. (used loosely!) STRALEY whose diagnosis was, with head in her hands, "well she is complicated"! That is it. Expensive tests. Not diagnosis or treatment. Out dog's lack of treatment (put on O2 and lasix the next day) surely hastened her death. Caveat emptor! Save your money and go to a real vet.

Sadie has been with our family for 12 years. Our daughters were 9 and 6 when we rescued her. She has been a constant presence in our lives. She has endured tears of sadness and of joy dripped upon her fur. She has been witness to family drama, both good and bad, and has always been the one we each talk to privately to air our feelings. She is a great listener and her wise golden eyes always let us know she understands, but doesn't judge. She saw both of the girls go through middle school and high school, and kept every secret ever told. She helped my husband and I stay somewhat sane for all of the tumultuous years. And she is the VERY BEST judge of friends and boyfriends. If ya don't pass the Sadie test, ya gotta go! Today, our Love's time came, and we had to make the decision to euthanize. My husband and oldest daughter had taken here to RVH as it was about the only place available on a Saturday. Masks were a requirement. No big deal. But when the time came, and all 4 of us were waiting to say goodbye to our constant, loving, best friend and family member, we couldn't all be with her. Only 2 people were allowed at a time. So AFTER spending 15 minutes getting the bill squared away ( internet was down, and I don't fault anyone for that; we had major storms coming through) our daughters could say their goodbyes, and then my husband and I could be there when she passed. The BIG problem that I have is this... we are all card carrying (fu)lly vaccinated citizens ( yes, I did mean for the F U to be emphasized) who are losing our best friend.! There is no longer a mask mandate, and even though we were accepting of their mask policy, it is absolutely ridiculous that we could not all be in the room with our friend for euthanasia. And when we got to the exam room, she was sedated, laying on a cold table, all alone. She had been that way for over an hour! How would anyone consider that to be humane or compassionate? I found it absolutely sickening! What kind of person who apparently loved animals so much at some point in time, that they wanted to dedicate their life to helping them, would allow someone's beloved friend to be left lying alone, cold, confused, and scared without the loving touch and reassurance from their family? The doctor was only in the room for 2 minutes! If she is that paranoid, why doesn't she just dawn a hazmat suit for the two minutes she has to be in the room? But for the love of all things sacred, let Sadie's family be there for her!! And for us, for that matter! Euthanasia is hard enough, and a year ago I might have understood. But when we can sit side-by-side on an airplane, but NOT all be in a room together to say goodbye to our best friend, something is VERY wrong. The day was awful. This place made it that much worse.

This is long winded, beware-though I hope you'll find it justified. I want to thank Dr. Shinew and staff for saving my little trouble maker's life! His name is Safari. He and his siblings were rescued from the side of an extremely busy highway in Virginia where they had been dumped by the worst of our own species. Their mother was killed but the kittens survived. My husband and I only wanted one kitty since we had already rescued three ferrets and believe me when I say they are a handful! But the individual who found them stranded told me that our little fella was incredibly attached to one of his sisters, and I just didn't have the heart to separate them. Safari is such a fun cat, he walks on a leash and gets into everything-he even plays fetch! Fast forward about three years. I came back to Reidsville in order to help my father who had open heart surgery. It turned out that his health wasn't what anybody expected, and our dad died on October 24th, 2019. I stayed in Reidsville because our grandma (his mom) broke her hip the next day when a rack fell on her at Belk's while she was buying an outfit for the funeral, so I stayed in Reidsville to assist her post emergency surgery. Fast forward to Christmas Eve. Safari had a string coming out of his rear end and when I pulled, it barely budged (please don't do what I did) so I pulled harder. I didn't realize he had swallowed a needle and thread in my absence-cats can just about get into anything because where he found it was a table that had a shelving unit-so he had to get his paw in between the two spaces and he managed to do so. When we brought him in, and found out what actually happened, the synopsis/diagnosis was grim. There was concern that it punctured his liver. Dr. Shinew saved my baby!!!!! I can't thank her enough. Safari is still getting into everything, but I have the opportunity to love him and try to keep him away from danger to live another day because of her. Dr. Shinew, we are so grateful! You truly are making a positive impact in this world for species that deserve the best treatment.
