Took my cat in after a fall from a chair and I was very suspicious of a dislocated shoulder or something. I mentioned that she was not eating or drinking, probably due to pain. I also mentioned some other concerns I had. I didn't feel the need to mention that she is 24 years old and FELV pos because that is in her chart. The tech mentioned they will want to due bloodwork which I consented. So she was taken to the back to be "examined". After 1.5 hours the vet comes in and states she is dehydrated and anemic. Also proceeds to inform me they gave her a capstar, SQ fluids a pain shot and a antinausea shot-WITHOUT asking for consent. Stated she was crawling with fleas. Um no--this cat is a very in your face cat, and if she 'crawling with fleas' I would know. There are many causes of Anemia in cats such as FELV. The vet did not address any of the other concerns I had and never mentioned the leg. I had to asked the tech when she bought the cat back if she looked at the leg. A short yes, no other explanation.
After getting home I realized they gave me ANOTHER CLIENT"S MEDICATION. The best part was after paying a nearly $400 bill they called me to say they had forgotten to put all the charges on the bill and I owe additional money. With the boarding incident with my dog and now this, going elsewhere.

I am not one to leave bad reviews. I completely understand things happen. I'm also not one to think that losing my business means anything to them or will break them. However, I have never met more rude front desk personnel. I tried to approach one of them just to let them know i needed to run home and grab my wallet, i waited patiently until someone wasn't busy with another person. She saw me there. Looked at me 3 times. I finally said, "Excuse me ma'am", she looked at me, rolled her eyes, and still ignored me.
Not mention my dogs appointment was at 2:30 and by 4:35 we had still not been seen. It had been over an hour since anyone had even poked their head in the door to update us. Which would not have been an issue except when we walked out, everyone was just standing around the front desk chit chatting. The biggest issue I have with it is the fact that it wasn't like we were just there to get shots or something. My dog was injured and miserable. The rooms are extremely small, and there were 3 of us and a dog who was crying, crambed into this small room for over 2 hours. We did get there 15 minutes early, so I'll give them that. I understand emergencies come in, and sometimes, you just have to wait. However, no update at all, for over an hour, and they're all at the front desk talking, is a little frustrating. Absolutely got the feeling that we were more of a bother and inconvenient. When we left, they all thought it was funny. I wouldn't take my pet rat back to this place.
EDIT TO SAY: My appointment was NOT the same day. I made his appointment the day before. I called to schedule his appointment, and this is when I was told they could see him.
I did get a voice-mail the next day saying they were trying to save a Labradors life. Like I said before, I 100% understand things happen, and emergencies come in. That does not explain the extremely rude front desk staff and the fact that they literally laughed at us as we walked out and told them to cancel his appointment. Or the fact that we got there at 2:15p and we didn't walk out until 4:35p without so much as someone saying "Hey, so and so is going on" for over an hour. Almost 2. When we first got there, someone did say the vet was in surgery. My daddys dog passed away that night in his sleep. He was only 7 years old (almost 8) yrs old. We lost my daddy 6 months prior to this. So, losing his dog was a huge loss for our family.

I used this vet for many years. I wouldn't even want to know how much money I have spent between my health problematic dog and my cat with UTI problems. (My dogs record alone is 55 pages long) After Dr. Ballengee left, I became extremely unsatisfied with the service I received there. Let me start with my cat. I had taken him in many times to have his bladder drained with UTI issues. Never once did anyone mention anything about prescription cat food to help with this issue. Then I ended up taking him to an ER because he almost died. $1500.00 later, I had to mention something about the prescription cat food to get it and since I started feeding him that, he hasn't had any issues at all. Dr. Ballengee always seen my dog and she always gave him the best care. She never once criticized me for the care I give my dog. After she left, we started seeing Dr. Berdeen. Our last visit, I suspected something was either going on in his urinary tract or his prostate so we did a urinalysis. I took in a urine sample for the urinalysis and the dog was never seen, therefore, his prostate was never examined. After Dr. Berdeen said the numbers were 'off', he told me to take him to CVS which I refused because it wasn't alarming enough for me to go spend $1000s in internal medicine. I took him to another local primary for a second option. That vet did a full exam of my dog, including checking his prostate and looking at those numbers from the urinalysis and he said everything was within normal range and not to bother taking him to CVS which I didn't and he was fine. My dog suffers from DCM so sometimes he's not 100% and I get worried something is wrong. I also take him to NCSU for his cardiac care. (Thanks to Dr. Ballengee) They now send holter monitors to the primary vet to have it put on. The last time I did this with pointe south, not only did they open the box before I arrived even though it was addressed to me at their address, they also were NO HELP at helping me put the holter monitor on and even asked me if I wanted to take it home and do it myself. So after all of this, I call one day recently to make an appointment for a new pup I rescued and when I told them the appointment was for a new dog, the response I got was 'really?...REALLY??' Absolutely the most unprofessional, sarcastic thing she could have said. When this was brought to their attention that I was unsatisfied with her response, they did call back and apologize but when I mentioned I would probably get the same response from Dr. Berdeen, she laughed and agreed. I also stopped seeing Dr. Highley many years ago after I boarded my cats and she ran a lot of unnecessary tests on one of my cats that I didn't ask for or approve. I would never expect a vet to make you feel stupid for trying to take good care of your beloved pet but this place definitely will! Don't waste your time here. No pet owner should be talked down upon for trying to take good care of their animals. I have gladly taken my business else where and will continue to send people in a different direction and share my experience! Go somewhere else!
