I’ve been shopping at TJ Maxx for several years now in various states. I have never experienced what I’ve experienced today regarding pricing and customer service. I asked a staff member who was a really nice gentleman if he could do a price check before I arrived at the checkout counter. I did not want to hold up the line. He obliged and was very happy to do it. However, what I didn’t know until later was that he asked his manager or supervisor about the price and he was told to bring similar pot to what I wanted. However, there were two different pots. One was small Cuisinart pot and the other one was a large Viking pot. I know Cuisinart is a trusted brand. However, it is the basic classic version, which is why the prices are cheaper. When I arrived in line to pay for my items, the cashier who was really nice retrieved the Cuisinart classic pot Along with a Viking larger size pot that was $44. The gentleman who started the price check, told the cashier that the manager stated that I should pay the price listed for the Viking. After I refuse the cashier sought after the manager. a staff member who may have been a supervisor came to the counter and told me that the pot that I wanted was similar to the Viking pot and that I should pay what was listed for the Viking. I told her that I did a general search on the item and it was comparable to my other Cuisinart that I was purchasing. She stated no it’s not. I did not want to make a scene so I declined to purchase the item. It’s really truly sad that the staff members do not know their products nor are they adequately trained to do price checks. I’m really shocked that they’re able to just make up a price without having any knowledge of the product and without doing a formal price check. The young cashiers appeared to be better trained in customer service than the managers and supervisors. I still can’t believe that I was told that I had to pay the same price that was listed for the Viking for the smaller Cuisinart pot that was different in size and other specifications. When I asked if they do a price check, one of the managers stated that It was the same, therefore, I should pay The Viking listed price. I thought this was ridiculous. So I Declined to pay the price that was listed for the Viking. The items were different In every shape and form. I truly don’t believe that if a priced check had been done they would have found out that the price was actually $19.99. It would also help if they knew the products that they sold. I tried to tell them that I looked the price up during a general search, but no one cared. I know that stores must follow protocols and policies. But assuming what the price is and not doing a price check is ridiculous as well not showing courteous to a customer. I really should have taken my items back and asked for a refund. However, I was pressed for time after recently moving. But I really wanted to demonstrate to these employees that If they had did their job and actually checked the price, they would have discovered a few estimates of what the actual prices lists instead of trying to make me pay $20+ more for an item that’s listed for $19.99. So I decided to go next-door to HomeGoods, which is the store that I prefer even though they’re in the same family. I found the exact item (pot)listed for $19.99. I went back to TJ Maxx to tell them that the price was $19.99. The same woman who tried to get me to Pay $20+ dollars more stated in a very disrespectful tone that the manager stated no. I will never return to the store. The sweet girl who was checked me out asked me if I wanted to open a credit card. I told her after what happened you had to be kidding me. This store gave me the impression that it comes up with their own prices without doing price checks. I’m hoping people are checking their receipts and really inquiring about the prices. I’m grateful that the store is affordable. However, I don’t expect to be scammed especially after spending $155. Customers please beware.

This is the slowest TJ max I’ve ever been to. They only have 2 cashiers open all the time. Nd the workers move slow as heck working them.

Very odd experience here today; I came in to buy hand soap but decided to walk the store as I always do. I was browsing the towels and an employee named Chris, presumably the manager, approached, lingered and proceeded to “customer service” me. I responded to him in a way that let him know I understood what he was doing and he left the department but then immediately paged himself back which I thought was hilarious. I came without a purse and in athletic clothes so I’m not sure where he thought I’d put any stolen merchandise. I bought my items and left but won’t be back. This location is far inferior to the Falls of Neuse location anyway. Chris, you need to relax.

Today I went into tj maxx to get the purse that i put on hold for my sweet 16 birthday and come to find out the lady that i put it on hold with did in fact not write my name down as she should have but i am confused on how she still had the other purse i had on hold instead of both of them.Out of all the staff they had only ONE person was helping me look for the purse that i put on hold that they lost and out of all the places me and my mom have put purses on hold this has to be the most unprofessional.
