Excellent old school venue! Great sound system and experienced audio guy running the show. I've been seeing shows there for 22 years now and they're always great!

This is a no frills bar downstairs at night, under a record store upstairs that is open during the day. I've only been there once at night. There are bar stools and benches if you need to sit down but the majority of the space --which isn't large-- is standing room. I happen to like dancing so that setup is ideal for me. I saw an amazing band there that I'd never heard of before--Tuatha Dea (an old Irish phrase meaning Children of the Gods.) They were amazing-- their sound is unique-- Appalachian/Celtic Rock. I would definitely return to the Pour House-- not for the sake of the venue-- but for the music if a band of this caliber was performing there. One drawback for me was the two unisex bathrooms facing the stage that don't lock! An employee of the bar kindly offered to keep an eye out and there are stalls with doors but it was still nerve-wracking. BTW- Tuatha Dea will be performing on August 4th at White Horse Black Mountain in Black Mountain, NC. If you've never heard them you should check them out!
