I brought my grandmother’s mid-century modern hutch to be lacquered at Steins. It was 50 years old and in perfect condition. When they were through with it, the doors no longer hung straight and even. The owner came to my home to see it and started banging on the doors with a rubber mallet. In doing so, he chipped the paint. He told me that they would send me a repair kit and that I would have to repair the chipped paint myself. I never received the kit. He kind of shrugged off the crooked doors like, “Oh, well”. I’m so disappointed at the job they did and the terrible customer service.

I had two pieces painted, a bow front dresser and a faux bamboo chest from the ‘80s (inherited). They were painted glossy black and even the original handles were redone. They are stunning!! Even the guys who picked them up for me commented on how nice they were. I am thrilled. Thank you so much!!!

i'm an interior decorator and i've been working with steins furniture for about five years now. they are one of my favorite local resources for home furnishings and decor. my first project with them, refreshing a set of vintage dining chairs with lacquer, had a few challenges (as vintage items do), but sharon was very communicative about the refurbishment process and the results far exceeded my expectations! they've since lacquered many items, large and small, for both me and my clients (they really make me look good with my clients!). they have a keen eye for beautiful furniture and home accessories, and their showroom is always full of unique finds and lots of great color. they are friendly, knowledgeable, talented, trustworthy, and reliable. working with steins is always a pleasure and i HIGHLY RECOMMEND them!!

Steins is the best lacquer studio in the southeast. They turn furniture into some of the most unique and beautiful pieces. I have used them for several pieces and they exceeded my expectations. They also have beautiful pieces in their store to buy. I love their new store!

If I could post 10 stars for Steins Furniture I would! Sharon helped me coordinate every detail of making my vintage dining chairs gorgeous! The customer service was amazing! Even though I know they are very busy, Sharon always answered my questions fast. I felt like she was just as excited about my chair transformation as I was! You don't find service and quality like this anymore and I am so excited that I found Steins and look forward to working with them in the future!😊

Zero stars!!! I am not one to leave reviews, but I feel compelled to do so after my disastrous experience with Stein’s Furniture and Lacquer Studio. In early November I brought in chairs to be lacquered in a high gloss finish. After nearly 3 months I stopped by the store to see what the delay was. I was told that they would be finished “soon”. After another 2 weeks I again called to follow up and was told that the chairs were finished. When I went in to pick them up I was shocked at the sloppy and unprofessional work. The paint was blotchy and dull in some parts, shiny in others, and the paint had an overall “orange peel” look. I had asked for a high gloss finish. The fabric on chairs, which I was assured would be removed was still on the chairs!. When I pointed this out to Sharon the owner, she agreed to fix the problem. I took her on her word, and dropped off fabric for her to give to her upholsterer who was to pick up the chairs when finished. Two and a half months later I received a call from the upholsterer informing me that the chairs could not be upholstered as they were not fully painted and had white under primer showing through on all of the edges. The upholsterer could not cover the parts that were not painted because Sharon DID NOT REMOVE the initial fabric as promised, and just painted around the fabric! All of the edges had white primer showing through and blotched paint! When I spoke to Sharon I told her that after close to 7 month of waiting that this work was unacceptable - both to me and her upholsterer as well. She told me I was “picky” and took no responsibility for her unprofessional behavior and horrendous work! She also said that I was supposed to remove the fabric - a bold faced lie!!! If that were true, she should not have accepted the chairs upholstered in the first place! And should have told me as I visited the studio several times asking when my chairs would be done!! In classic Narcissistic style she denied any accountability, lied, and put all the blame on me and the upholsterer! To ad insult to injury, she double charged me without my permission, which last time I checked is called theft. Thankfully pictures don’t lie!

John and Sharon Stein have painted furniture and restored family pieces for me. I discovered them six years ago, after a housefire. They completely restored and badly damaged piece. Their "magic" even removed all traces of smoke and soot. Everything they did has held up. The paint and finishes are as beautiful now as the day they were delivered. Sharon has a keen eye for design. Her guidance and expertise were perfect. During the process, communication was always open. I highly recommend!

After seeing Steins Furniture's beautiful and talented work on Instagram, I had a headboard shipped to Steins Furniture to be lacquered. Unfortunately, the freight company did not carefully ship my item and Sharon immediately took photos for me to file a damage claim with the Freight Company, as well as immediately began fixing my damaged headboard. I could not ask for better service! Sharon has been phenomenal and I can't wait to see my finished headboard! I would recommend Steins Furniture to anyone because of their incredible customer service! I have no doubt my headboard will be beautiful and I so appreciate Sharon's amazing help!!! I am so lucky I chose them to do this large project for me!

I have been working with Sharon and John for years. They are absolutely the best and extremely professional. As an interior designer I go no where else to have my lacquering done. The finishes are gorgeous and executed EXACTLY as I ask. The furniture they select for their showroom is always interesting and spot on. Prices are fair and work ALWAYS done in a timely fashion. John and Sharon are great to work with and incredibly nice. I would strongly recommend Steins. Laura Ward Ward Design Group
