Please add something on the description card saying that the animal is pending. This broke our heart as we got attached and only found out during the application process. A red sticker? Write the word pending? Anything

SPCA of wake county's adoption process sucks, you CANNOT TAKE HOME AN ANIMAL SAME DAY. So don't bother trying. Schedule an appointment via adoption process first and then MAYBE you can adopt. Beyond annoyed with the needless complexity of this matter.

I love the new updated building. It's worth a trip to sit in the kitten rooms.

Oh My Lord!! ???
Broke with hungry kitties
I call S-P-C-A ???⬛
Chat with lovely people
Saying help is on its way
Make a plan to pick up food
Ready the next day
Grateful for the help
I head out to their site
Expecting no more than a bit
But a bit is still a bite
Upon arrival I wind away
Through construction cones
And half-gravel roads
With signs leading the way
The dock in sight
I pull in tight
To see what may be there
“Your gift will be identified”
So they replied…
I approach the dock with care
Here is where I reach the part
I’m not sure I can rhyme
But It seems I can’t quite help myself
This doesn’t happen all the time!
Oh well, I’ve gotta try!
What I found was so amazing
It nearly made me cry!
Unbridled generosity!
Incredible kindly acts!
Countless feasts of treasures
Were gathered for my cats
My heart is overflowing
My mind is clearly blown
The level of my gratitude
Likely never will be known
Unable to stop smiling
My brain is all askew
Apparently I’m unable to stop
My silly rhyming too
A simple note
A smiling thanks
Is all that I had planned
But as I’m sure you’ve noticed
My thoughts got out of hand
And now you’re stuck
With all this silly rhyming stuff
Because the literal meaning of speechlessness
Is clearly something I just don’t understand
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Omg Thank you!!!!

The staff runs a tight ship. It's easily the cleanest shelter I've ever been to, and the animals all looked very well cared for. It's got a very cute interior as well of that matters.

We came to adopt a kitten. My daughter forgot our carrier in Cary. I just had major surgery 3 weeks ago and am in pain. The shop refused to sell us a small carrier because they said it was for small animals....like a kitten. They refused to hold the cat so we could get our carrier, and then said they would only wait 35 minutes for me to get back or the cat could be given away. There were no pet stores close enough to the facility to get back in 35 minutes. It was just brutally rude and says mounds about why shelters are full. If my daughter hadn't fallen in love with the kitten I would have left.

I went to this shelter twice to meet a 2 yr old dog named Snapple. I vetted a lot of profiles to find a dog I felt would be a possible fit for our family. I found Snapple. I visited Once with and once without an appointment. 1st time
The appointment confirmation page said that we would be meeting Snapple that day. I called ahead to confirm, but no one answered the phone. I left a message. However, when I went back the 2nd time with an appointment to meet her, like I was told, I was being asked what my phone number was for her microchip. I asked if we were going to be meeting her first, they said probably not, since she wasn’t in the building. It is a 25 min drive for us, I can’t keep coming back to SPCA to be told I can’t meet this dog. I feel like my time was wasted and Snapple lost her possible family over this. Pretty disappointed. I hope someone will get to eventually get to meet her and give Snapple a happy home.

I adopted an older kitty, Dorothy, in April 2020 during the height of the pandemic. They worked with me to find an older, calmer, non-agressive cat friend for my similar cat, Jack. Dorothy is a scaredy cat (hid under the couch for 2 weeks), took her a year to jump on the bed, picking her up is a no-no, etc. Her SPCA foster mom left her phone number so I was able to learn more about Dorothy. Thank goodness! She just needed another cat to show her how to be a cat in her own time. After a month, her and Jack were best friends until he passed in early 2024. So thankful they rescue pets who are shy and work with them. I also fostered some kittens in 2021 for them and they were great to work with. Good ending: I ended up rescuing the mother cat and now her and Dorothy live together. ❤️
