You could seriously spend all day here. It was amazing!! Huge museum. My boyfriend and i couldn’t believe it was free. So many hands on things, just so much to do and see. We loved the dueling dinosaurs and seeing them excavate the bones. along with the whole process. The sky bridge was nice to walk across. Just everything was great and all the staff and volunteers were so nice and informative. wasn’t super crowded either. If you can donate when you go please do. this is a great thing to support.

The NC Museum of Natural Sciences is a standout destination, offering timeless exhibits that have delighted visitors for generations. Its paleontology section is particularly impressive, featuring detailed fossil displays and interactive exhibits that provide an immersive and educational experience.
The museum masterfully blends science with engagement, making it enjoyable for all ages. One highlight not to be missed is the gift shop, which is among the best of any museum, offering a diverse selection with something for everyone. Without a doubt, this is one of North Carolina’s premier museums, consistently delivering a rich, memorable experience.
*my only note …. some of the displays could use a serious dusting. ?*

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our wedding on September 21, 2024, at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science at the Nature Research Center! This cerebral setting was elegant and unique, creating the perfect backdrop for such a special day. From the breathtaking views to the stunning exhibits, everything about this venue made the event truly memorable. Our guests were amazed by the stunning exhibits and the breathtaking atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to make sure every detail was flawless, allowing us to enjoy every moment. If you’re looking for a venue that’s as extraordinary as your love story, NCMNS is the perfect choice. Highly recommended and extremely LGBTQIA+ friendly!

I would say it rivals the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. And funnily enough, though it doesn't market itself as such, it might even be a better aquarium than the Virginia Aquarium. I was very impressed by all the live plants and fish in the giant nature-scapes. And Dueling Dinosaurs is a wonder. Check it out!

A Museum with free admission in a prime location in downtown Raleigh, it's a must-visit for anyone interested in science and nature.
Went there with my kids and they really enjoyed the impressive array of exhibits that range from dinosaur skeletons to live animal displays, the museum offers a comprehensive look at the natural world.

For our young toddlers, we have to go back to the research center, the building with the big globe on the street. Next time we visit Raleigh area, we will have to come earlier on the day so we don't miss the interactive things for the kids. It was still pretty fun and we could not even finish the 2nd floors of each of the two buildings. My toddler loved the weather station. The cafe was good too. Great FREE activity in the area. However the 3D shows etc. have to be purchased.

First and foremost, this museum is entirely 100% free! ? Located right in the middle of downtown Raleigh, this museum really does focus a lot on natural sciences, and it's more than just animals too! There are different exhibits throughout the massive building, some relating to dinosaurs and fossils, some relating to forests and the animals that live there, and even more relating to precious and rare gems and the like!
There's even a section about bacteria and viruses!
Our state's incredibly diverse geography, and the flora and fauna that inhabit it, are thoroughly explored top to bottom in this excellent museum! If you're looking for something free and fun to do, this is it!

**Fantastic Family Experience!**
We visited the museum on our first day after moving to North Carolina, and it was an incredible experience for our whole family. The exhibits were fascinating and engaging for all ages. Our kids absolutely adored the butterfly room and the hands-on kids' area, which kept them entertained and educated at the same time. We've only been here for a month and have already visited twice. It's a perfect place for family outings, and we can't wait to go back again! Highly recommend!

I was pleasantly surprised to see a sloth and butterfly's at the museum. Make sure you make it to the top floor or you'll miss the best part!
