I would like to start by saying that I have been going to Magnolia animal Hospital since 2006. I would also like to say that I absolutely love and adore Dr. John Dick. His business partner on the other hand and lot of his front desk staff leave quite a bit to be desired. Over the past few years, his business partner has been making decisions about my dogs care without a medical degree, as well as being left for Dr. John not being passed along to the doctor and being answered by his business partner. However, today in the middle of a medical emergency, I was told that my account had been closed why you might ask because my life partner had called another vet for a surgical consult and they requested all of our pets medical records. So they closed my Account without a phone call and inquiry letter? Mind you a customer since 2006 18 years of loyalty and never going to another vet this one time. Mind you this loyalty came along with A lot of what I would call mistreatment over the past few years because of our dedication to Dr. John and his dedication to care for his patients and because every time we went in there, he inquired about how we were doing our husband. My partner was doing how my partners family was doing, a veterinarian and another state retired at this time.
So I'd like to use two examples of why this blows my mind one of the front desk staff there has had multiple medical issues. Could you imagine if he went to one doctor and then had to go to a different doctor and then his old doctor wouldn't see him again because he had gone to a different doctor because of a concern. Or let's use as an example I'll have my oil changed to Jiffy Lube, but I'm not having a motor repair done there. Could you imagine if my mechanic wouldn't see me because I got my oil changed at Jiffy Lube?

Dr. Jon is a very nice vet and clearly cares deeply for his patients. However, on multiple visits my dog was either misdiagnosed or not treated properly for an ailment. On one occasion, my pet was suffering from an emergency injury to one of his feet. After spending $500 on a single visit, the issue persisted and worsened causing me to visit an another vet who was able to properly treat my pet and restore his health. I was informed by the second vet that what was prescribed by Dr. Jon was not helpful and was in essence, useless.
On the second, and most recent occasion, my dog was suffering from a common ear infection. The treatment administered by Dr. Jon was ineffective and not typical of the treatment I’d received in the past from other vets. When the infection continued without abatement, I returned for a follow-up and instructed the team on the typically course of treatment for an ear infection, and informed them of the ineffective treatments provided by Dr. Jon. After inquiring about compensation for having to incur fees for multiple visits when the first visit was ineffective, I was offered a very small $10 discount for the second visit. Of course, I do not mind paying for services received, however I should have been adequately compensated for a visit I would not have had to make had the treatment initially administered during the first visit a month prior been effective.
Sadly, I will not be visiting Magnolia again. I would encourage all to consider another vet for routine and serious treatments unless you are able to walk this team through proper and effective treatment for your fur baby.

Dr Jon has been our vet for many years, and the care he and his staff show are extraordinary. I trust them with some of the lives I care most about.

Fantastic doctors and staff here for actually affordable prices (for a vet)

Magnolia provides affordable veterinary care but that comes with its tradeoffs. Recent visits were backed up and while the doctor is very kind it has become clear there may be too much going on and the details are being missed. Our dogs most recent prescription was incorrectly labeled for the dose discussed and when we tried to verify with the doctor we were met with a short and irritated response that we had already been told the dose. We have decided to transfer care as a result of these experiences.
Update: our dog’s nails were trimmed by one of the techs here and they were trimmed too short, months later he is having pain caused by them not growing back out properly as a result of tech’s trim.

I lost my sweet darling Mimi who was almost 16 in November 2023 and I still mourn her even death. Magnolia animal hospital showed so much compassion and followed up with a sympathy card. Dr Jon is an outstanding vet and great human being. I cannot thank him enough.
Recently I became a proud owner of kittens and I have enjoyed taking them to Magnolia animal hospital and appreciate the care my kittens are getting. However the recent changes whereby Dr Jon can only see one pet at a time from the same home is a really beginning to take its financial toll. Trying to schedule different vet visits is also every inconveniencing schedule-wise. I have spent almost $1000 on two kittens in the last month (although one is for an emergency). I think there should be exceptions especially with our tanking economy. Thank you for all you do.

Use to be a 5. Made my cat suffer for 3 days. Said it was constipated, he had cancer and had to be put down! Just had another bad experience. I'm no longer with them. Poor phone service too.

We recently had switched over to this vet and have not been disappointed. Dr John is caring always concerned and knowledgeable. The pricing is extremely fair in today's time so don't hesitate to take your animal to this vet facility. I forgot to mention how amazing the staff is.

Beware. This outfit will block your account by retaliating back and will not let you come back if you give a neg. Review. The owner did not have the decency to call me after I called and asked for him to call me to discuss the issue but emailed me and said I am not welcome back. What poor service even to the point he would not call me. Never experienced retaliation like this and I have been in Management for 42 yrs. Magnolia Hospital is a dime a dozen outfit. Sorry the owner is closed minded. I saw where others have been blocked for negative comments.

We, like many others I discovered from reading reviews, were fired as clients after complaining about serious problems with patient care. We love and consider our pets as members of our family. We need a veterinary that we can trust and have honest dialogue with concerning our pets' health. Trust is important. Please do not entrust the care of your pet to this practice. Keep your pets safe from harm and preserve your faith in veterinary medicine by choosing a different practice. If I could have given zero stars, I would have.

I have to say that I love Dr John. He's great but way over booked and you will wait for an hour even with an appt.
The front desk lacks the ability to keep things running smooth and the office manager Lindsay is hateful.
They sent me an email that I was not longer able to come back to the practice after they had gotten a request for my dogs records from another vet. The reason that there was a request for my dogs records was because my dog tore her crutiate ligament and Dr. John does not do TPLO surgery so l was get a second opinion before I made my decision on what to do.
Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else that cares about you and your pet.
