I will never in my life purchase another vehicle from a Fred Anderson. If you wonder why, the tl;dr version is that the financing people at Fred Anderson Toyota of Raleigh at best misled me and my wife with their sales pitch, and at worst flat out lied to us. This post is not to convince you that you shouldn't purchase any warranty they sell, but if you do, make sure you get them to list the benefits of such a warranty in writing, at which point I don't think you'd want to buy it.
When I purchased my brand new car at here, the financing person convinced me to upgrade to the gold family plan, which he said would cover my maintenance up to 60k miles, so that was like prepaying the expenses that I would eventually incur. The cost of the upgrade was $1,107. Fast forward 30k miles, I brought my car in for a scheduled maintenance, and the service advisor explained to me that the upgrade wouldn't cover the entire cost, just part of it. The monetary benefits of the upgrade would be a total of $372 (they pay some amount at every 5k mile service; the total amount would add up to $372; see the attached photo). That basically means they overcharged me by $735 for that upgrade.
This made me angry, not because of the money, but because of the shady business practice that such a large dealership employs. Sure, I lost $735, which, if I assume an 8% annual interest rate, would become $7,396 in 30 years. But I'm blessed to be in a position that $735 at the time or $7,400 in 30 years really doesn't make that much of a difference in my life. But Fred Anderson Toyota was willing to trade its integrity/reputation to gain that small amount, which honestly is pathetic. I thought they would be better than that given their reputation.
Have I even mentioned that when my wife and I declined the other warranties that the financing person was trying to sell us, he became visibly upset at us? What a joke.

I had a horrible experience while looking for used cars. When I spoke to an older gentleman at the sales lot, he was nice at first, but once I mentioned my budget of $30,000, his attitude completely changed. He dismissively told me that the lowest price for the vehicle I was interested in was $40,000 and suggested I try looking at another dealership.
Edit: the vehicle was a Toyota Tacoma and the budget was only for the car. I expected to spend extra for the taxes/warranties/protections.

Sold me a used car with the expectation of lifetime free oil changes only to find out it was still $40+ for an oil change with the "family" plan. Love Toyota but this was super misleading.

Had an excellent experience at Fred Anderson of Raleigh! I hate going to dealerships! But, these guys made it painless. Was really happy to have made the purchase through them. They were willing to negotiate up front which was great. They came up with a fair price with no haggling. And Derek, Justin, and Justin we're awesome to deal with. My wife's a happy camper with her new forerunner. I would definitely purchase from the Fred Anderson of Raleigh again. Thank you for a great experience
