I moved out of state or else I would have continued taking my pets here. Throughout my time taking animals to O.H. Person St the vet techs and vets were so patient, kind, and knowledgeable to all of my pets. Most impressive was their ability to work with our rescued Belgian Malinois. He was petrified of people and Dr. Rebecca got him to the point where he could eat in front of strangers again and play with his ball. Similarly, my senior cat has always hated the vet, but he loved the staff. They trimmed his nails quickly and comforted him with a blanket, he was actually purring towards the end. When our family got a GSD puppy they discussed all treatment options, vaccinations, and training and were very encouraging about the long road ahead for training a working line puppy. Can't thank them enough!

Even though I live in Cary now, I choose to drive 25 min to this vet. They are personable, very good with my dog and they are very understanding about my being a person with an autoimmune disability by masking in the exam room when my dog is treated. They are also forbearing that being someone who is disabled and who lives with CPTSD, going to the vet is not easy for me or my dog. This means the world to me. This facility is always pristine and Captain(see pic) says they have the best treats:)

Dr Sawyer and Kiara took excellent care of my cat and myself. They were very knowledgeable and straight forward and I appreciate that. They stayed late to help me make the best decision for my pet and were very compassionate. I am very grateful for this team and my experience.

Super displeased with how my cat's dental cleaning procedure was handled from start to finish. Unfortunately will not be returning to this location for any further veterinary care.
My cat had to be put under anesthesia for his teeth cleaning and had to be admitted for 8 hours. I did not receive any sort of detailed explanation as to the procedure schedule. I was never updated on when my cat went into/came out of surgery- I had to be the one to call and ask for an update from the staff. When I tried to call back to see what time I could pick up my cat, no one picked up the phone (tried calling 6 times over the course of 75 mins). This was an incredibly upsetting and frustrating experience, especially because I was told I would be receiving updates (they also have an SMS communication system, so how hard is it to type out a quick text update?). If an animal is getting put under anesthesia, the least the practice manager or receptionist could do is provide basic updates. Not to mention the estimate I received the morning of was incorrectly quoted for a canine, which was conveniently $100 extra... supremely disappointed in the lack of compassion and professionalism displayed by all staff members.
Additional general complaints about this location:
- No separate waiting room for cats and dogs
- Staff is often running 15-20 mins late for yearly check up appointments (this is stressful for pets)
- Patient portal's online appointment scheduling feature does not work for this location. Every time I use it, my appointment request gets canceled and I get a call back offering a completely different day and time. Why offer an online scheduling feature if none of the available slots are every updated?
Hate to write a negative review for vets and vet techs because they work very hard to care for our pets, but this was an incredibly upsetting experience. I would not recommend this office for any form of procedure/operation past a routine exam.

We have been clients of the clinic at this location for over 5 years (including when it was CityVet). When we arrived today for our appointment, we were told that the appointment was at a different location, something we definitely had not requested. We were told that we would have to travel across town in what passes for rush hour in Raleigh and go to the other clinic. The people at Person St. were rude and unaccommodating. Fortunately, the people at the alternate location on New Bern were very nice and professional. We will be using their location in future. I'd like to add that CityVet went down rapidly after it became Oak Heart. We've stuck with it because the Person St. location is in our neighborhood.

The team here is wonderful. They are knowledgeable, take time to answer questions and provide thorough explanations regarding any tests or treatment that they recommend. Everyone here is very friendly and I feel that my pet is very well cared for when I take her here.

I would give it no stars if I could. My cat died. I am angry. The short version is that I took my cat in and after $700 worth of tests it was recommended I leave my cat overnight which would cost $2500. I couldn't afford to do that. I took my cat home with the medications. After 24 hours my cat wasn't any better. I called my parents to see if they would loan me the money for the hospital. They agreed. I called the hospital back and I was told I could bring my cat in but that they may have to run the tests again. I couldn't afford another $700. My cat died in my arms the next morning.

Recently took my dog to have a mass removed and teeth cleaned. I feel like a high maintenance client, so I appreciate their willingness to answer questions and reassure me. I also went to the wrong location once and they were polite about the confusion and accommodated me and my dog, Max.

This place has really went down hill. When the business used to be City Pet the place was different. The doctors cared and it wasn’t a profit center.
When Oak Heart took over things changed. Everything turned into how we can make money and pillage you for everything. When it was City Pet you could park in the parking lot after hours for Crawford restaurants. Under current management you will get towed after hours. As much as we spend here that’s insane.
Highly recommend do not come here and pick a different place.

The staff here is exceptionally kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I trust them completely, and I feel confident that they will care for my pets. No matter the issue, they are always eager to help. I appreciate how they will check-in to see how my pets are feeling even after the appointment - it shows how much they truly care. I cannot recommend them enough!!!
