The first time I've been in an ABC store where you stand in line and they bring you your alcohol and you pay for it at the window.

Not 5 stars for a few reasons. Mainly because you can't shop in this location (I'm assuming because theft) but just tell the clerk what you want in hopes they have it, also the area isn't very desirable or safe-feeling. The staff is some of the nicest around though!

So this ABC store is different than most… it’s in a rougher area of town and as a result, when you go in, all the bottles and the staff are behind plexiglass. You can’t do any actual “shopping” for new brands you may like or maybe try something different that catches your eye. Instead you must tell the store clerk what you want and they will go and retrieve it from the aisles and shelves behind them.look, I get it, it’s a safety thing and prevents shoplifting. It was just unexpected. Now that I think about it, it sort of surprises me each time I enter. Even though I now know what to expect. Sounds silly. The other MAJOR downside is the prices. They are 5-10% HIGHER than other stores. I never knew that the stores had the option to change- raise or lower- the prices. I thought they were all a set dollar amount… period. I was wrong. The problem I can see here is that this can GREATLY affect the sales of certain items. I’m SURE it does. The other downside is the parking. It is very, limited… VERY. They have approximately 6 parking spots. Maybe only 5. There are 2 other available parking spaces, but they are actually farther in - and IN FRONT of the others. So if you choose to use one of those 2, then you WILL be blocked in by another vehicle! Plan accordingly. Why would they have this setup? My guess is they were required to have X many parking places by the city of Raleigh. Those two must have been needed for approval to open the doors for business. That’s just my guess.I sound like I’m being negative and that is not my objective here. I do not like negative reviews. I try to be as positive as possible and use an objective view as opposed to a subjective one. That said, I guess all reviews are, in the end, subjective. The people who work here are very nice. They’re very helpful and even talk to the customers. I like that.I think another reason for the extra security measures inside is related to the clientele. Some of them are like the neighborhood, a little bit rougher than other areas of town. The last thing is leaving the store’s parking lot. You have to back out and PRAY that no one else is pulling in behind you. Then you can try to use a side road to leave out and go West back towards the capital or you can take a right and join in with the ONE WAY traffic going down New Bern avenue towards Wake Med. The Poole road merge exit is right here also so you could also go down Poole road.I’ll try to add some photos the next time I visit this store.I hope this review has helped you. If so, please give me a thumbs up ? and/or click on follow me. I’d appreciate it. Thanks, RJ
