Purchased a 2014 X5 BMW paid by check left and returned the next day to get a windshield repaired the car started smoking different colors from blue to yellow . John said the suv would be fixed by them after keeping it for a week he says bad gas was put in the suv only thing is I purchased premium gas for my Mercedes as well with no issues to it. Then to slap me in the face I was charged for a fuel pump purchase they couldn't provide any documentation for. I have a $28,800 BMW that doesn't drive that I put maybe 220 miles on and the dealership accepts no blame but want to fault Circle K where I got the fuel. BEWARE of John and his hoppycock lies.

My husband purchased a mustang from them, or so we thought. Almost 2 months later, we have yet to receive the title, cannot get permanent plates, don't get called back by ANYONE and have received a constant run around when we do reach someone. We are currently contacting DMV, the bank and the attorney general. We DO NOT recommend them.

LONG READ BUT WORTH IT Purchased a 2019 Ram in February. About two months later I heard creaking. Made note of it to the dealership. Because of work I wasn't able to schedule an appointment. Finally scheduled a repair (on the house) to fix the issue. This was done some time in May. A couple weeks after I noticed the creaking noise was back. Again, because of work I haven't been able to take care of the issue. I finally take it to a MOPAR dealership where they notify me that there is a bent small frame causing the ball joint to give out. Because of the rust on the frame the technician believes this has been in an accident a he does agree that the lower control arm has been replaced he just can't tell me when. So when I notified the original dealership of my issue they were willing to take another look at it. They looked up the vehicle again and saw I was in a accident in June. They believe that relieves them of having to take responsibility for the frame damage and potentially the lower control arm. Now, the "accident" I was in happened to be COSMETIC. That's why I dropped my initial claim. But because of that they're using that as an excuse as to not perform any repairs. The technician I dealt with said that the frame had to have been damaged for a while due to the rust. With all that being said, I then talk to the owner directly and was met with THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER from a dealership. Not only was he disrespectful, he cursed at me, accused me of being a liar, and before hanging up the phone yelled "FUCK OFF". This is the same person who thanked me for my military service a couple months prior. The owner, John, will put on a show for you. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. I'll add pictures of the lower control arm and frame damage so you can be the judge.

Major upgrade ! New dealership building. Burt Wieland has a new building to service to community better. Smart Cars a long time staple in Pittsboro, active with community events , upgraded. Now they can take of your transportation needs better than ever. Burt makes it convenient, easy and no hassle in purchasing a pre owned vehicle. Burt and his brother Doug, long time residence of the area are offering better deals on nicer vehicles. They are pleasant to work with no pressure .

I'm pretty upset by the accountability of this dealership. I had previously posted a negative experience on Nextdoor, and was harassed by the owner to remove. After much back and forth, I have to do my due diligence to share my negative experience. Our Nissan Sentra was purchased and had a transmission leak. Took it to Nissan (84k warranty for transmission) and they found a fuel leak as well as A/C issues. This was not even a week after purchasing. We were told their warranty is 50/50 (engine/transmission) - ok. Then the check engine (should be under the warranty and reimbursed 50% of shop costs to fix) and tire pressure light came on. They notified us the check engine light was due to an EVAP code and replaced the gas cap, and all 4 of the tire pressure monitors were broken and had to be replaced. Seeing as their shop is under construction, I was notified that the owner had said they "couldn't assist us anymore - due to the fact that they were "backtracking" on their deal, and losing money on it. They also notified us it was an 84,000 mile warranty, and it's not - Nissan confirmed the warranty ends in December 2021. Honestly Bert, that is not our problem. We were sold a vehicle with a mountain of problems, and y'all should have made it right. Your employee even said this car shouldn't have made it on the lot. It's not my problem your shop is under construction - find a shop to fix it and pay for it. Instead, we are now stuck with over $500 in fees to fix things wrong with this vehicle that should have been noticed by YOUR mechanic prior to this vehicle being put on the lot. I am done with this dealership and I would stray far away. I will also be posting on Nextdoor and Google.

Worst dealers I've ever had the displeasure of meetings . they are Running a scam here and doing pretty shady things. Bought a car from here awhile back and their was a major issue that they were suppose to fix had legal paperwork drawn up. stating that they would fix this issue on the car. took it to them about 11 time and they never actually fixed it they did a half ass job and pretty much made it worse. And Then refuse to fix it after wasting my time and money. Later I found out they lied about the carfax too. They Used different vins from similar vehicles to conceal accidents or wrecks. I would stay away from this place. Whatever prices their offering its not worth it. Their cutting the prices on their cars for a reason. But if you're in the market to buy a lemon I recommend this place.

Very enjoyable time while...they were not pushy just laid back! They have quality cars but most importantly are some of the most honest car salesmen I've met!

STAY AWAY FROM SMART CARS IN PITTSBORO! Having first hand experience in dealing with them - I advise all to stay away. I thought dealing with a local business would be a good thing - boy was I wrong. Unprofessional and 'disappearing' sales staff, even the owner is rude. We also had what I felt like were minor issues with body of car. It took them 3 weeks to touch up paint and tighten a loose bolt in one of the mirrors. The first touch up to the paint was horrid and it had to be redone. Then comes the issue of the 30 day tag being within 4 days of running out before it was discovered they didn't have the title for the car and had not file any paperwork with DMV. This car buying process has been horrible. We are in the market for another vehicle purchase and I know FOR SURE it will NOT be purchased from Smart Cars. Run far away from these folks and buy your car anyway place else!!

Horrible business, nothing but Check engine lights and blown motors, the owner lies all the time and will hurt you wallet in the end, this is the worst place I've ever been, there's nothing good about this place stay far away! The daughter of the business tries her best to keep things a float but other than that, when the father steps in all hell breaks lose, I was up there one day and saw him shout at her so bad I thought he was gonna hit her, the mechanic they had blew up my motor within 2 weeks of me owning the car, he ended up dating the daughter and when they broke up he took it out on my car, this place is horrible!!! STAY AWAY!!!!

STAY AWAY! The owner is your typical greasy used car salesman. Don't trust them- they would lie to anyone to close a deal and after the sale service is joke! I like to write positive reviews, but there is nothing good to say about this place.

I was also terribly disappointed in this dealer. I love the car, but the "we owe" items that were promised to me were never delivered. It's been over a month, and I've called five times to follow up to no avail. I keep being told "we'll call you back", but no one ever does. I've talked to everyone there, including the owner, and just keep getting the run-around. Additionally, I was assured the car had just been fully serviced. After a week of driving, the "time for service" light came on. My husband told me not to give them the check until everything they promised was completed, but they seemed so nice I trusted them. Clearly that was a mistake. It's only a few hundred dollars worth of items, but I have no doubt I've been screwed

I find it odd and somewhat disheartening that I had such a glowing review for Crown Honda and such a lousy one for this small mom and pop place. Isn't it supposed to be the opposite? I like to support the locals! And I like to write nice reviews of places that are super. So, either these people totally played us or they are just completely unaware that they have a really lousy mechanic. They sold us a car (used, but in seemingly pretty good condition) that they said had just had the timing belt replaced. It was replaced, but apparently the gaskets, or something, were not properly replaced or screwed back on tight enough, so oil was leaking onto the belt. The oil temp light came on and kept flashing the day after we took the car home and we smelled burning oil, so I took it back over to have them check it out. The guy said they didn't see anything wrong and that maybe there was a short in the oil light that was flashing and the smell was probably just the belt settling in. I feel like such a doof. You know, I don't know any better. I'm no mechanic! Yeargh, this experience makes me want to go out and take a mechanics course, because I feel like it is so easy to be taken for a ride (no pun intended)! Just watch out for these folks, they seemed nice and maybe ours was a fluke experience, but now we're $3,000 in the hole and kind of ticked off about it. I hate writing negatively....but...well...take that, Smart Cars!
