The Island Art & Book store is really an amazing place. So many different types of paintings and pictures that really tell a story about how beautiful and pleasant this side of NC truly is. But, then there are the books. Oh boy, what a selection. Local books on the past and present of all the beaches in the area. Also, books on many other topics, sea life, turtles, cooking, drinks you name it's there. Let's not forget the beautiful sea art jewelry that they sell. So beautiful and nice I must say. If you're looking for a unique gift for someone this is the go to place. Take time to look at the old map prints they have for sale as well. Everything in this store tells a story. If you read this review give it a thumbs up as it lets me know people are seeing what I post.

We visited this delightful gallery last week. It was amazing. The magic began when we walked through the doorway and Gary Pope, the owner, warmly greeted us. He made us feel like family even though it was our first visit. He was very gracious in providing us his background and the history of the gallery. The painting and prints were incredible as was the jewelry collection. He also had several books about the area from local authors. We purchased one of the Ivey Hayes shrimp boat prints. It is now hanging in my office. We are looking forward to our next trip to his gallery.

This was on my list of places to visit when my husband and I traveled all the way from MO to Shallotte, NC to celebrate our anniversary. We walked away with some beautiful artwork by local artist Ivey Hayes and fun conversation with Gary, the shop's welcoming owner. Cozy and bright, I think this is a must-see place, even if you don't consider yourself an art lover!

This shop has a good variety of local and coastal subject matter books as well as a good selection of artwork, photo prints and crafts. The proprietor is friendly and helpful. Check on the opening hours before you go - they can be irregular.

Awesome number of beautiful prints by many local artist for reasonable prices. Owner is extremely interesting to talk with. Spent a couple hours in there and purchased a great print.

An awesome local art gallery with many prints books and jewelry for sale. Ocean scapes, maps, wildlife and more. I couldn't leave with bringing some home. Will return!

Exceptional art and jewelry as well as other gifts to bring back great memories of your trip to the North Carolina coast. Gary, the owner, goes out of his way to ensure you find what you are looking for and is able to add information to the art work which you are interested in. He provides information about the artist that personalizes the art work. Worth the trip to visit the shop and look at the original art work and prints as well as books, hand made jewelry, and other art work.I recommend you visit the gallery. You will not be disappointed.

Great local store supporting local artists. I called to get a newly released Nicholas Sparks book and the owner made sure a copy was set aside and texted me when it was in. Super friendly and knowledgeable!
