We had a bad experience here. When we brought our cat in for a yearly check up, they informed us this wasn’t necessary. Our cat passed away from an illness a few months later that could have potentially been prevented by taking simple blood work at a yearly check up. Would not recommend this place.

We were from out of town and had to rush our doberman to the vet hospital. They were all so kind and nice and took great care of our baby. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a veterinarian.

My family has been coming here since the late 80’s. A new vet bought the practice and patients were not notified. I was notified by Chewy, who said the vet was no longer sending electronic prescriptions and my dog’s prescription was cancelled. I called The Pet Hospital to find out what to do and got a phone tree to leave a message. Several calls and messages later, I got a call back two days later. The receptionist told me I needed to bring my dog back in to get “re-established”, even though she was in for a normal appointment a few months ago. The “re-establishment” appointment consisted of the vet tech taking my dog’s temperature and the vet listening to her heart. No introduction to the new vet or explanations. In and out in less than two minutes. I was able to get her medication that she needed from them…..at double what Chewy was charging. Sad to leave The Pet Hospital after taking our animals there since I was a kid, but I have found a new vet. I don’t want to talk to phone trees and the communication when the practice changes owners was non-exinsistant. Thanks to Chewy for doing the notification that they should have done.

Showed up with no appointment with my dog in need. They jumped into action. Unbelievable this day and time they cared about me and my dog. Now my 4 dogs have a new Dr. And the price for their services was more than fair. My feelings were that they cared more about my dog than the money. THANK YOU to the staff of The Pet Hospital for restoring my faith in people. They Care !!!

My wife and I are not clients of the Pet Hospital, but Dr. Horn provided our animal's care for several years in Texas before her move and is absolutely the best Veterinarian we've ever used. We, and our dogs and cats, will miss her care and doubt we'll find another like her. Wishing her the best in her new practice and home. New Bern is lucky to have her.

Yesterday I got there at the appropriate drop off time and waited with multiple people outside, eventually having to leave. My dog had an emergency and I had to drive her 45 minutes to a place that could see her, missing work just to make sure she was ok, eventually I got a text saying they'd open late but I never expected it to take that long, they clearly didn't value my time or more importantly my dog's health, she could’ve died if I didn’t find another place. I’ve gone here for years and never encountered something this bad or grossly incompetent, my dog could have died due to them, I’ll never return and I beg for your dog’s sake you do the same.

Don't EVER consider working here. Ever since Dr. Horn took over the practice a little over a month ago, at least 8 people have quit, including myself. Dr. Horn may put on a friendly face to the public, but to her staff, she does not. She accused me of lying when I told her I misheard her over the phone, and threatened my job over a situation that could EASILY have been handled better. I started there when Dr. Ridgeway ran the office and ever since Dr. Horn purchased the business, it has become a toxic work environment. If you get hired at this place, don't expect to be doing what you get hired for, and expect doing something you get forced into.

Initially, the first time I brought my dogs here in July 2023 with Dr. Ridgeway, I wouldn't recommend this place. I honestly found it very strange that they took my dogs in the back without me to administer their shots and it made me question whether or not they actually received what they were supposed to. They also charged me for a fecal exam that I didn't provide a sample for which was irritating. Lucky for them, I didn't notice the extra charge until I was home. Recently, I needed to update a vaccine in order to board my dogs and I even thought about finding a new vet. Since it was just one shot, I figured it would be easier to just go back since they already had all of our info and I was going to voice my concerns in person. Walking in, both of my dogs were shaking (which is not like them) so I felt very guilty for going back and told myself after this visit, never again. However, this time, the staff seemed to actually show that they care about my dogs. They asked questions about them for their records, interacted with them, tried to make them feel comfortable throughout the wellness exam as well as when administering the shot. Also, the doctor explained possible side effects of the shot as well as provided information on it. The best part was that the new doctor, Dr. Holly Horn, and vet tech did everything with me in the room and it just felt more personable and comfortable. Thanks to this, I will keep them as my primary vet clinic for our pups.
