This little hole in the wall is so organized and cozy, and the vibe is very conducive to a spirit of “find the hidden gems.” I love supporting local artists and writers, and not only does Next Chapter help me do that, they also have an extensive selection of pre owned books from many other authors and every genre. I plan on spending many hours here.

I happened across this book shop when I was heading to a nearby coffee shop and just HAD to stop in. As it turns out, the shop is typically closed on Sundays, but they were open in hopes of picking up some business with it being New Year's. I enjoyed my time here and left with several books from local authors that I cannot wait to get started reading (including an autographed copy of one)!

I was so excited to go to this book store while I was in New Bern. I love quaint bookstores in cities with history. I was very disappointed with this one. The staff member didn't even acknowledge my presence, she had the music really loud and the books were not really organized in anyway to be helpful. When I asked where the section would be for local history, she pointed to a shelf that had about 4 books on New Bern? Needless to say I didn't stay long. I was disappointed ?

We loved The Next Chapter. We found two wonderful classic children's books, a gently used book, and a local author who had penned a fun summer read! We enjoyed the local art and found some fun bookmarks. Everything was reasonably priced and we enjoyed meeting Derby the book store cat.

Love this little store in downtown New Bern! We go through a lot of children's books and this is a great option for us to purchase gently used books and donate the ones we're done with!

It's too bad I have to give a single star period if they had a zero star or negative star it would be much more appropriate. I walked in and I don't wear a mask. The lady there that works there was not wearing a mask and she asked if I had a mask. I said why do I have to wear a mask if you're not wearing a mask . She said I work here, lol. Hopefully she won't be working there much longer without people paying the bills you will have no job.

Such a gem in downtown New Bern. This little book store features local authors in the new book section. Otherwise, all remaining books are gently used. Most of the used books are hardback with a few paperback options. The store also features a wide range of authors too! Plus, they have a children's section. We were greeted with a friendly hello and asked if we needed help locating any book in particular. They had a great selection of the authors we were searching for, so it was a successful shopping experience! This nice little locally owned book store is a better alternative to the big box stores, #shoplocal #supportsmallbusiness

LOVE this place! New Bern's only independent bookstore, carrying a wide array of used books and a huge selection of local authors, of which I am one! The owner is an author, poet and librarian and knows her store like the back of her hand. She will easily find what you're looking for, or another book that you'll love.
