4th time visiting NC this year and after staying at the dump called the Sea Ranch resort, Shutters Inn and Surf Side hotel we finally found a gem. Im so upset with myself for spending money on these other hotels after staying at the Holiday Inn. They keep the hallways and rooms clean and tidy and free of sand, the breakfast is pretty damn good and the people are very friendly and accommodating. We had a top floor oceanfront room and the view was perfect. The shower never ran out of hot water, they have a underground wash area to wash the sand off after visiting the beach, they have coffee and snack in the lobby for midnight snacks, plenty of parking. Unlike the other hotels/resort the Holiday Inn doesn't show the wear and tear. Lastly, love how they have a screened windows so at night you can open it and listen to the waves, only hotel that has that. This is our go to hotel for now on or until we find something better. Perfect balance between employees and comfort.
Rooms: Spacious room, large flat screen TV comfy beds and pillows.
Nearby activities: It's a island so don't expect everything but they have a lot from Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot. During peak season it may be hard to get into some of the restaurants but off-season your ok.
Food & drinks: Starbucks, Dunkin donuts ect ect are all a short drive away

The rooms and service was great, but the breakfast room is way too small for the size of the hotel. It's a hassle to try to get your food and find a table, especially a clean one.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location and beach access behind the hotel could not be better. The reason for the three stars is that the cleanliness of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired. Couch, office chair, fixtures, and carpet appear to have received little to no attention in the cleaning process for quite some time.

Really enjoyed our stay. Great location on the beach and area is quiet enough for families. They provide coffee all day in lobby which was really nice. Buffet breakfast is good each morning. Staff is great. It’s a smaller beach hotel but has a pool and all you really need for the beach. Try to get a beachside room if you can.
Rooms: Very clean and have a keurig in the rooms. Microwave and fridge/freezer. We didn’t hear anyone in rooms near us even with kids on our floor.
Nearby activities: Beach, shopping
Walkability: Beach is right outside the door and you can walk to some of the closer beach shops and restaurants.

Fire alarm went off for no reason. No communication at all. If this was a real emergency people would have gotten hurt or worst. Also the bed mattress have nasty stains on them.

This hotel is conveniently located to the beach via a wonderful access. We stayed in a king room on the fifth floor. The bed and pillows were comfortable, but the rest of the room seemed worn. Lighting is minimal and there is little, if any, padding between the carpet and concrete floor. The bathroom was adequate. The staff was friendly and efficient. Kudos to Deborah, a front desk clerk, and to NeNe, a housekeeper. They helped to make our stay a pleasant one.

The perfect hotel for a visit to the Outer Banks. Right behind the hotel, there are steps and a wheelchair ramp up to the top of the dune. There is a nice place to sit and see the ocean or you can go down the steps and you are right on the beach. Breakfast was very good. Everything was stocked and warm. The rooms were nice and clean. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

Rooms were dingy, windows were dirty. Absolutely not worth the price. Bathroom is dirty , water easily getting spilled out of shower and the ventilator fan created lots of noise and didn’t work. Had a very bad experience on break fast area, staff commented on us and they didn’t allowed to refill my water bottle from there and she asked me to go to different place and she commented loudly with her coworker about it and they were laughing on us which was very unpleasant.
Bed was not pleasant and the room air conditioning system didn’t cool below 78 even though we set it to 72. We have to sweat and didn’t had a great sleep with little ones.
Beach access is very good, to enjoy that we didn’t had pleasant experience with the stay.
Rooms: Not worth for the price paid. Price and experience, I would Rate 1 out of 10.

Great place to stay for an ocean visit. Private beach access right out of the back of the hotel. Beaches were not crowded when we were there (early June) and we spent time walking the beach and swimming in the ocean. Room was clean and comfortable. Stayed on the ocean view side and enjoyed watching a beach wedding and whales or maybe dolphins (black fins when surfacing) from our balcony. Would stay there again if in the area.

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn for our annual beach trip to celebrate the Fourth of July and our daughter’s birthday. Joyce from Dining went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. She held a bowl of fruit loops aside for our daughter when they were about to run out on a day that we were particularly late to breakfast. She doted on us, as well as the other guests, and has a way of making you feel special. We called her our “Grandma away from home” by the end of the trip, as she has grandkids of her own and made our kids feel like they were her own grandkids! Sheila from Housekeeping was also so helpful, always trying to go out of her way to assist us at various times, even though she wasn’t assigned to clean our room. Pros: we loved the cinnamon rolls, and our kids loved the indoor pool!
