I booked a reservation for a car rental in North Carolina through expedia and paid a $120 deposit. The total cost should have been roughly $192 with the remainder being paid at the counter. Once we arrived at the rental center (which was not in the terminal as it stated on the website), I was told that our car would need to be charged for 2 hours a night. They asked if I wanted to exchange the car and told me that there would be an "upgrade fee". I asked if it was more expensive than the electric car we had booked and i was told that it was. It was an old chevy malibu. When I went to look at the receipt, I was charged the full amount of the car rental and the $120 deposit from expedia was kept. I searched for the price of the car we were provided and it was actually cheaper than the original car we had put the deposit on. Fast forward almost 10 days, I now have an additional $30 charge from platepass? This company is a scam. Customer service is a scam. Avoid at all costs. $150 lost to horrible business.

If I could give 0 or negative stars I would. Dollar, Thrifty and Hertz will NEVER again get my business. I booked online and paid in full. I had flight delays so I called and was told no problem the reservation was good for 48 hrs. I only ended up being late by 7hrs. Again it was fully paid for 4 days. When I arrived it took forever for a shuttle to come. Then it was only one worker at the desk doing all 3 companies. I gave my reservation number that I was emailed, license, card, return flight info and email which I normally do EVERYTIME I book. This time was different. They asked for my social. Umm ok. Says it’s for a soft credit chk. They then say it’s a 500 deposit not the normal 200 ummmm ok wow but still no problem since I’ve never had a ticket, damage or any issues and I know imma get it bck. Well after all that, he says you’re on the DNR. I said huh? He said just read this and gives me a print out,Equifax Advisory. It states were unable to approve your request and the decision was based on credit obtained from equifax then RIGHT below that after the bolded contact info it states Equifax played no part in our decision…My credit score wasn’t even close to bad which is the killing part.He said he couldn’t explain. I said ok then I need a refund, he advised they can’t do that. I’m like I need to rent a car and you’re holding my funds like that don’t make sense. He tells me it’ll be back on my card in 7-10 business days. Mind you it’s almost midnight on a Saturday and they’re about to close. So I go online and book with my fave, SIXT! Their shuttle wouldn’t even take me. He said it’s a 15 min walk not close but 2 mins in a car. I had to pay $19 for an Uber to go to other rental agency, the goat- SIXT! Always top luxury cars and service. Easy online booking and you pick your car on the app. Chk in with a QR code for damages, keys are already in once approved/ verified you drive off no waiting at a gate for some one. Smooth simple and not overly priced. Dollar, Hertz or Thrifty will NEVER get my business. Not only for holding my funds hostage but not being transparent with policies across the board. Unacceptable. If they couldn’t rent to me they shouldn’t hold my funds and when changes are made that affect my reservation I should be informed immediately. This is not ok at all!

I was very nervous after reading the ratings. I picked up my car this morning and I already am very pleased. The rental office was clean, well-staffed and the people working were very pleasant and efficient. No snags with my reservation. I was sent to a large lot and told to pick a car out of a particular zone and there was someone in the lot to help direct me and answer questions. The car is nearly new, very clean and no scratches, dents. Very pleasant people checking me out. I worried that perhaps I had gotten a more expensive class of car by mistake and called to check.A very pleasant, helpful person verified that I got what I had reserved and paid for. It does take awhile to get someone on the phone but they are very helpful and pleasant once they answer. The gas tank was not quite full as promised (maybe 7/8ths full which is not a major issue). I will have the car for nearly 2 weeks and am driving out of state so am relieved to have a newer vehicle that appears in excellent shape.

Do NOT rent from Thrifty! Absolutely the worst customer service ever. Waited an hour and a half in line to pick up my car, then the next morning my car wouldn’t start. It had to be towed, and when I asked how to get another car they said I would need to ride with the tow truck driver over an hour back to the airport where I would be able to get a car. And all of this is relayed through a third party call service located in a foreign country, because there is not a single number you can call to talk to someone local or even in the same country. Even the call service tried to contact someone and they couldn’t even get a representative on the phone. Also should he know that Thrifty, Hertz and Dollar are all under the same umbrella and use the same call service, so don’t rent from any of them!Update-not onlyHave we still not heard from anyone from Thrifty, my card has coni tied to be charged every day since December 1, the day the car was towed, through today!!! My contract ended on December 3, and I never had the vehicle past December 1! This wholeSituation is honestly I believable.

Although the process with the rental staff was great! The cars were filthy inside out!Had I not been pressed for time, I would have followed through to have the car cleaned! There should be someone in place to inspect the cars before renting them out to paying customers! No one inspected the car at all, we literally got in the car, the guy at the gate checked the plate and we were on our way!!

Below was the Thrifty response about delays a month ago and the issue still persists. I (and 15 other people behind me) spent an hour standing in line. There’s still only one representative. He is doing the best he can to help, but his managers don’t.This response was either a lie or local management didn’t bother to act accordingly:“Please know we will be in contact with local management regarding this delay so we can prevent this from happening again.”

Terrible. Booked a month in advance to come to a FOREVER line to THEN complete that process and be told to go to a certain row to get a car to then be in another line of literally THIRTY other people waiting for a car in this row because it had ZERO cars. Why are you accepting reservations?! It's not like one person returned their car late. This is SO many people. Will never rent from Thrifty again. I don't care how much it costs to rent with someone else. At least then maybe I'll get to work on time and not get fired.

I rented a car from Thrifty rental car, aka Hertz, from October 7th to the 9th in Raleigh Durham Airport location. Never have I ever had an experience like this where I turned on the heat, and a slew of ROACHES came crawling out of the vents and across the dashboard! I was beside myself with frustration and anger! I immediately returned the vehicle, expressing great concern over what happened. If ever you decide to rent from this location, please ask to have the vehicle inspected thoroughly and ask when the last time it was detailed. I wouldn't want anyone to endure such a disgusting trauma like I did.

My husband and I have no complaints. I’m leaving 4 stars because upon arriving at our home, which was in the evening, we noticed the drivers side headlight was not working. We called to let the company know so we would not take responsibility for it. We were offered a replacement, however, we did not accept due to not wanting to drive back out. We also, thankfully, did most of our driving in the day time. Customer service could be better because it is like jumping through hoops to get to a human being via telephone. The pick up and return process were painless. People complain about the wait and I wonder if they’d ever thought about the airport next door. Thank you Thrifty!

Beyond frustrating rental @ the Dollar/Thrifty/Hertz @ RDU. 90 minutes in line, completing paperwork was fast though. Then another 45 minute line outside waiting for a car to be cleaned and brought out. THEN another 20 minute line @ the exit gate. ICING ON THE CAKE: I just received a fuel charge fee for $149...this after I almost missed my flight as I missed the Shell station the 1st time we drove towards the rental drop-off and had to go back to fill the tank! Negative 20 stars

DO NOT rent from here. Line was two hours long. They have six stations but only 3 open and they give priority to hertz guests. Never gain!

Car was filthy and long wait to even pick up a car. Staff is extremely rude as well and although there were vehicles in a higher class available, they make the customer wait versus upgrading. Other rental places like happy customers, not Thrifty.

Rented a car here through AMEX. It was supposed to be $212 and after taxes and being guilted into the insurance, which is ABSOLUTELY a rip off at $30-50 per day... it was $422 for 3 days! Checking in was horrible. The guy who checked us in didn't give us the right papers and it took forever to be able to leave. The lady was nice enough to comp us for gas, which was nice.

I returned the car with a full tank. They then stole $110 from me several days later 'for fuel'.
