Wow. In utter awe of how much of a lack of concern Dr. Stutesman had for our 12 year old cat. Dismissing what we later found out was a POUND of abdominal fluid as “he’s just fat”. Dr. Statesman, your decisions very well could’ve been fatal to our cat. He is now in heaven, possibly thanks to your lack of concern.

My cat has been sick for a week. Dr. Ramos has been primarily seeing him during this time with lots of care and making some helpful diagnosis for us. Yesterday we brought my cat in because we were worried about his distended abdomen and wanted to have an x-ray done. This was my first time meeting Dr. Stutesman, where he was dismissive and told me an x-ray was not necessary because my cat is “just fat”. Fast forward to today, I’m currently writing this while sitting in the emergency vet, where my cat is having fluids taken out of his abdomen and I’m not sure of a time I’ve been angrier. It’s quite disappointing to leave this review, Dr. Ramos and Cindy have been wonderful to me and my cat. But come on, seriously, Dr. Stutesman? Dismissing me and my sick cat and just calling him fat? Hundreds/thousands of extra dollars spent because he didn’t take it seriously.

I just wanted to leave a positive review because Dr. Stutesman and his staff deserve it. I came home to my pet basically unresponsive. I called them at 5:15pm and even though they were supposed to close at 5:30pm, they told me to bring him in. I had to wait for my wife to come say goodbye and they were very patient with me. They could have told me to bring him somewhere else but they didn’t because they are good people. We ended up putting him down around 6:45pm. They all stayed late to accommodate us. Dr. Stutesman is a great doctor and if I get another pet in the future, they will have my business. Thank you!

It honestly makes me so sad to write this review. We have gone to Village Animal Hospital for years even had to say goodbye to our buddy Duke here. For years everything has been great until this past week. We brought our 6month Mini Dachschund on Thursday Aug 22, she was diagnosed with pink eye and prescribed eye drops. We called on Monday Aug 26 because she did not look better and we were asked to send in pictures which we did. Rec'd a phone call that evening saying they were going to put her on an oral antibiotic to help and they also recommended a cone so she would not scratch the eye. So Tuesday morning Aug 27th, we picked up the antibiotics, measured her for the cone and left...Dr. Ramos ran out to our car looked at our dogs eye and said she doesn't believe she missed anything and that the antibiotics should work. Friday Aug 30th we got home and Reo our Mini Dachschund was now very lethargic and shaking we called the vet and were informed that the office was closing soon and that Dr. Ramos was going on Vacation so we could just go to urgent care. On Saturday Aug 31st Reo did not want to eat so we rushed her to urgent care she was feverish and had an ulcer in her eye. The vet at urgent care told us that the meds we had been giving her were making Reo worse, she was then prescribed four different medications. On Tuesday sept 3rd I called village animal to tell them what happened and that we needed a recheck on Friday but that I did not want to be charged for it given the massive ball drop in this situation. Receptionist stated she understood but the office manager Becca would need to call me back. No one called back. So this morning Weds Sept 4th I spoke to a different receptionist and was told the same thing. Finally Becca the office manager called and told me due to my decline of stain on Aug 26th that they would see me but would charge me for staining the eye because I am at fault for the missed ulcer. Okay, so I have given dates in this review because Becca's statement is a lie... stain was not declined and especially not on the 26th as we called on the 26th and we were asked for photos which we sent. We were then told to pick up the new oral antibiotics and that we could bring Reo if we wanted to properly measure her for the cone..which we did. We picked up the antibiotics the morning of the 27th and had Reo measured for her cone. When I said this to Becca she said well thats not what my notes say. So unfortunately our pups now will be going to a different vet clinic. We have loved Dr. Ramos and it feels so sad to take them somewhere else but the care received is not care. When this place changed?! I am not sure but due to lack of concern for Reo and for Becca's blatant lies I of course need to take my dogs else where but also felt the need to warn others.

I’m writing this with a heavy heart, but I also wanted to share my review with raw emotions. The staff and vet made this difficult experience much more tolerable than I could have ever imagined. Every staff member, from the receptionist, vet tech, and vet, was very kind, gentle, non judgmental, and empathic. The support I was offered was exactly what every animal parent needs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the help I was given today and for guiding our sweet boy to the other side where he can finely get lost in the woods again.

We had not been in town long when I had to locate a vet last minute for my twenty year old cat. Unfortunately, we had to euthanize due to kidney issues. However, Dr. Ramos was excellent throughout the entire process. She exhausted all possible options to prolong his life but explained the inevitable with compassion balanced with reason and logic. I appreciate those qualities in people. In addition, she did not take advantage of the situation financially. She was careful and wise before ordering procedures. I will be back to see her with our dog in a few weeks. Highly recommend. Oh, the office was immaculate and the staff was friendly.

I took my dog to this clinic for the last two years with a itchy vulva and it was irritated and raw and I was given pills and wipes multiple$200 visits then the vet said if I did this $800 surgery it would fix the problem and it didn't. So I randomly talked to an employee at the dog supplies warehouse in Huntersville who explained she needed her dog food changed and some extra probiotics and the problem is cleared up in two weeks. My poor dog has suffered under this veterinarian's care and it was never mentioned to me about changing her food. So be very careful whose advice you take.

Very friendly, caring employees. Have always been so helpful, especially recently when we had to put our golden girl to sleep. They made the experience as painless as possible. Really appreciated the private, homey room to say goodbye. Thank you village animal

We have been coming to Village for the last 5 years. Having dogs my whole life and frequenting many different vet offices, they have been the most caring and amazing team we’ve had on our side. From saving our pup on the brink of passing away from a severe infection to loving on our babies for each health check. Dr. Stutesman and Dr. Ramos are fantastic! Their techs and office staff care and truly love each of their patients so very much, remembering little details that show how much they love your pets.

Dr. Stutesman is an excellent vet. We had to say goodbye to our 14 yr old dog in Oct 2023. He made the process the best that it could be. We had a thorough understanding of the complications our dear Sarge was facing, the risks and the options. It isn't ever easy losing a pet, but we felt comfortable with our decision thanks to Dr. Stutesman and the rest of the staff at Village Animal Hospital. Can’t thank them all enough.

We've been coming to this vet for 7 years and have always had a great experience. Dr Stutesman has always been a great communicator, honest, helpful, and supportive. He's performed surgeries on 2 pets and we've never had an issue. If you're looking for a fancy, high-end decorated office, this isn't it. This is a small town-old fashioned, family style vet with years of experience. I highly recommend this practice.

I cannot express how grateful I am for this team. We have gained extra years with our dogs because of their suggestions and guidance. I would never consider taking our dogs anywhere else. They have been with us through new members to our family and unfortunate passings. They have been nothing but amazing. Thank you!!

We have a Frenchie named Coco who is almost 3. She has had undiagnosed stomach problems since she was a puppy. We moved to Mooresville about 2 months ago and she started becoming bloated with severe diarrhea. We took her to a place in town who gave her anti diarrhea medication, no blood work, no testing, and sent us on our way. The diarrhea and bloating continued. About a week later we visited Village Animal Hospital. This was the 4th veterinarian office we visited trying to find some answers. We met with Dr. Stutesman and within an hour we had a good idea of what the problem was (pending 2 biopsies). Dr Stutesman brought me back to the X ray room showing me examples of a normal dogs stomach, side by side with Coco’s tummy X rays. He took his time with us, answered all of our questions, and completed exploratory surgery the same day. He called me after the blood work was in and gave me plenty of time to ask questions, and write complicated words down so I could relay the message to my better half. He literally spelled each word letter by letter so I could read about it online. It’s so frustrating that Coco had to go this long with something that could have been identified with simple blood testing, which took less than an hour for the results. Dr Stutesman found 2 main indicators through simple blood work that her little body wasn’t processing/maintaining protein as it should, and her belly was full of fluid. Coco has been at their office recovering for 2 days now. Dr Stutesman and his team have keep me informed of her progress every day, and coordinated time for us to visit her. It makes us sad to think about how long she has had to deal with this discomfort and pain without a diagnosis. But we are grateful that we FINALLY have some answers, a plan to make her better, and a doctor that is caring and thorough. Thank you, Dr Stutesman and your staff for everything. Our gratitude can’t be expressed in words. You’ve gained a loyal patient with Coco Mama. Thanks again!!!
