Best Post Office around. Had to go to Williamson Road Post Office instead of my regular weekly trip to Mt Mourne. Never again. It was like the difference of January and July. Everyone at Mt Mourne is so friendly, warm and helpful. Love my little post office

This is a wonderful post office. But it has a zip code of 28123. In all the Google listings it is listed as Mooresville 28115. That is not right. Mount Mourne may be unincorporated, but it is not within the city limits of Mooresville and only has post office boxes. Though it doesn’t run rural routes, people who want a P.O. Box for security and live in the area use the zip code 28123. The Mount Mourne has all the services available at larger post offices. In addition, it has been considered a post office for over 200 years, once serving out of a house that is next to the current building. In the late 1800s, it was located in the Cowan General Store, which was also a freight depot. My Grandfather Jesse McNeely Cowan, the owner of the store, was Postmaster for 40 years. Later it was moved to the tile store located across Hwy 115 from the current station, which at the time was a general store. My uncle, Robert C Cowan, was Postmaster when the current building was built, and was Postmaster for 22 years. You need to straighten out your facts. I worked for the PO Distribution Center in Charlotte for 22 years. So I happen to know a lot about zip codes.

Went there to turn in mail today and the lady told me i couldn’t turn in mail to the post office called around to different post office and they told me it was a lie. Left a complaint and reported her to USPS headquarters. Black lady that works there. Ask for the guy in the back instead.

Same update, now again. 20 minutes before posted closing time and they closed 40 minutes ago. I'll never understand. Are these government employees or not? These ladies are always nice, but they also ALWAYS close at inconsistent early times. I was just there fifteen minutes before closing time with other customers outside and they had the door locked as they worked inside, not letting customers do anything though they were still "open". Sure would be nice if their hours could just reflect what time they're actually there to let you do what you need to do. They already post that they close 15 minutes before other post offices (4: 45 instead of 5) and now 4:30 is apparently too late, as well.

Upon arrival, I was only expecting a mail machine. I was pleasantly surprised to see there was a postmaster office and someone on duty in this small facility. The postmaster was kind and agreed to process my express mail package right at the closing time. He was conversational and we had a few laughs while processing the package. I could not ask for more. This was a package that I need to overnight and on the way to Mooresvill, I realized that I needed to get to the post office prior to 5PM. A quick check of Yelp brought me to the Mt. Mourne just a minute or so before the office was set to close at 4:45 PM. As I mentioned, the office is small. There is no self-service kiosk and they have mailboxes.

This small post office remains open during the pandemic but I was here after hours and to drop off a letter that needed sending. The small brick building isn't much but they have the usual postal services that you would expect - counters with clerks, post office boxes and supplies for sending packages. There is not an automated weighing and vending machine here. They do have a mailbox outside that if you circle the building right, you can pull up to it and post without leaving the comfort of your vehicle. [Review 13218 overall, 535 of 2020.]

Absolutely love this tiny little old building that is the US Post Office. Mail drop off slot is outside in the parking lot so you can drive up to it. I hope this place stays around as a historical landmark.

The postal staff at this post office was friendly and helpful, however, make sure to note that this post office location (Mount Mourne) closes during lunch hour (11:30 AM- 1 PM daily) which is typically a very busy time for post offices, making it slightly inconvenient to drop packages or buy postage during lunch hours. Small building with only a few parking places so parking may be tight if the larger USPS or other shipping company trucks are also parked in the lot to drop-off/pick up mail.

I usually dread going to the post office. This one changed my mind! I went Friday after lunch and the woman working was so friendly and quick with customers! Very helpful and positive :)
