FORGET PETCO, FORGET PETSMART! GO HERE!!! If you have, or want to get an aquarium, go here! Such an amazing store! They're tucked behind Jet's, Jeffrey's & McDonald's off exit 33. I could have saved myself so much stress and money if I'd have known to go here previously. We have a small (10g) freshwater tank that used to have a single diseased betta. What's worse, is the whole tank set up, filters, all the medicines I ended up, needing to get, fish, etc. or a birthday gift for our kiddo. I spent so much time money and sweat trying to save that darn fish. #RipBernieJoe I promise I'm not exaggerating when I say, I spent hours in the different pet stores, talking to their fish people, researching different fish, species, online, asking questions in newbie and pro forum... I was so desperate to give my kids what we had intended all along - a fun, active, and simple fish tank. First iMessage them on line and they quickly got back to me. I joked to my husband." let's go now before I lose my courage and keep overthinking this darn thing." We went in with our kids and told them exactly what I had, what our water levels were, that I did not want to break the bank, and prayed they could point me in the right direction. They did! This is a store for Sirius, and high-end Aquarius's, AND newbies wanting a fun, simple, and inexpensive set up. They have it all. Their fish start at something like three dollars, and there's plenty of those to choose from, and then they have many beautiful, exotic creatures, including an axolotl, majestic, coral of every kind, I can imagine, and I believe a SeaRay or two. My kids LOVED it. I found them surprisingly family-friendly. We enjoyed going around and seeing all the fish, I joked it was like a mini aquarium hidden in Mooresville. They gave us space to browse (they even have an upstairs with gorgeous coral, unique fish, and a mudskipper! They didn't make us feel like an annoyance, and were SO KIND to our kids. My youngest kept asking a lovely couple who worked there "hold me?". (This is extremely out of character for him, and they were so sweet. They happily obliged, held him on their hip - also unlike me to let someone touch/hold my kid - carrying him around the store, showing him and his sissy the fish... we stayed way longer than intended! They were so patient when we were trying to have adult conversations about Fish keeping while the kids interrupted every other word. ) We bought a couple of small fish and will go back when they get some more of a certain species in stock. They were incredibly informative, and incredibly honest. They told us what would - and wouldn't - make good tank mates, they sold us healthy vibrant fish from CLEAN tanks (unlike the pet stores ), and were awesome. They NEVER pushed us to upsize our setup, buy fish outside our budget, or made us feel unwelcome. We and our kids can't wait to go back. Note for newbies: if you're looking to start a tank, go by the store and talk to the team here. Get an idea of what you want, and get your tank set up FIRST. Then return to buy your fish. You have to "CYCLE" your tank - letting it run for a while and checking things like Ph, ammonia, etc. They have it ALL here. Thankfully we have a wonderful family friend who was kind enough to educate me on cycling, what filters to get, etc. Just making a note because these are things we usually don't understand in the beginning. They'll be able to get you set up. TL;DL: ONLY GO TO THIS STORE FOR ANY AQUARIUM NEEDS!!!

If any shop deserves 5 stars it is this one. Knowledgeable and kind workers who genuinely share your passion and fantastic selection for the building size. I've been to a lot of specialty aquarium shops and I have never been to one that had such healthy and thriving tanks. When I am not at aquatica I wish I was at aquatica!

Very organized and clean store. You can spend a good bit of time just looking at the fish and coral as well as the healthy established saltwater tanks on display. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable. Had a great experience here and will be returning for all my fish tank needs

The entire staff is friendly, patient, and knowledgeable, and don't mind if you hang around for a little bit and watch rays swim around.I was able to buy a good-sized plecco for my 35-gallon tank. They even told me some helpful things to put in the tank in case he ran out of algae to eat. So far, my tank is nice and clean!

I was at the store because aquatica in Charlotte is closed (had no note on the door that they are shut down for "renovations") and they are forwarding all calls to this location. I showed up because they had the fish that I was looking for and I noticed that most of the fish there had ick. I brought it up to the guy there and he assured me that my fish did not have it and it was only some of the fish, but they didn't have anything posted that said "hey, our fish are sick we can't sell them." Convinced me to buy the fish ($35 each) and spent about 80+ dollars for two fish and some snails. This was about about a month. Last week my tank broke out in full blown ick. The only changes were the 2 puffer fish I bought from this store. One has died as well as all the snails and I'm not sure if the other will live. Mind you my tank was cycled with correct water parameters. Incredibly dissatisfied and sad. Will not be going back. UPDATE: the 2nd puffer died and the store REFUSED me a refund or any type of compensation for selling me sick fish. The absolute incompetence of this store and staff is appalling! Do not waste your time and money on this awful store!!!!!!

The live freshwater plant variety isn't very large but they have several harder to find fish such as puffers and loaches.

The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable! They have been so helpful and supportive as we have delved into setting up our first saltwater tanks. Visiting the store to get supplies and ask questions has become the highlight of our week. Good vibes all around.

Bought my axolotl there on accident. I went in to buy cherry shrimp after another area fish store held shrimp for me and after I drove an hour they had sold them. I already had an axolotl and knew how they should be cared for. I was so surprised to see that they did not have them on substrate (which is correct) and we're keeping their tank cool like it should be. They have fluffy gills (which shows a lot about health sometimes). They also had them reasonably priced, Alot of stores will over price them due to how uncommon they are seen in fish stores (probably bc their care is a little difficult). I think my only complaint is that their were multiple axolotls in the tank which can cause issues bc they are solitary animals and can be cannibalistic. The one I bought had a gill that look like it was nipped at. He healed super quick. I was very impressed with their store layout, their friendly and knowledgeable staff and they level of care standards.
