Even after a long family history of ruger firearms, recent experiences with rugers quality control and customer service have left me wishing I'd have spent my money and time anywhere else. 2 for 2 brand new unused firearms required to be sent back for warranty resulting in transfer fees and replacement of a faulty factory firearm. NOT confidence inspiring for ANY price point.

Staffed by incompetents or activists, either way they are sending out misaligned semi-functional replicas of firearms.Front sight was canted to the right and the rear pin on the FSB popped out after 10 shots. Lower is twisted front and rear, throwing off round chambering, and causing the bolt and buffer scraping inside the tube.Sent back for inspection and service. A service that shouldn't have been needed if Ruger hired competent staff to properly assemble their products to begin with. The amazingly nice customer service was made aware of all alignment issues. None were addressed and only the misaligned pins were corrected by replacing the barrel carrier group. After this wonderful experience of ignoring customer concerns, the FSB canter is worse, gas is leaking from it, and combined with all the other unaddressed alignment issues, short stroking failures to feed happen every 3-5 rounds. The folks at industries for the blind could do a better job.Even Taurus and Hi-point are putting out better quality firearms than this joke of a company.

I bought a stripped lower receiver made at Mayodan. The hole was never drilled for the safety selector to install the spring and detent. I'm only going to buy CMMG and PSA lowers from now on.

first off let me say that I love Ruger firearms and own many different models that I've collected over the past few decades. Unfortunately I will no longer purchase anything made at the Mayodan facility because their quality control is horrible. I see brand new Ruger rifles on display with noticeable machine marks all over the receivers. marks on the barrel where it appears to have been clamped in a vice. recently I purchased an AR556 without giving it a good over look. later I discovered the upper and lower receivers were offset, as others here have mentioned. and the machining process on the bolt carrier was not done by a professional. the barrel was not installed correctly either causing the gas block to be angled. I didn't have to send it in for repairs as the shop I purchased it from agreed to buy it back from me. but a firearm with this many issues should have never been allowed to leave the factory. there are several other models I was considering but because they are all manufactured at the Carolina facility I've decided to pass. from now on I will only purchased a Ruger from the Connecticut or Arizona factories.

Bought an LCP that (right out of the box) was not chambering rounds. The extractor assembly was broken and seized in place. Called for warranty repair and was charged $45 for a shipping label to send it back. I was amazed that (1) such a defective pistol could have passed QC inspection and (2) that Ruger had no shame in making me cover the shipping to send it back. $45 to send in a $200 gun that left the factory untested and unable to fire does not inspire me to ever purchase anything from them again. When Ruger was still based solely in Connecticut, their workmanship was the benchmark of quality. Nowadays, it seems everything being manufactured by them in North Carolina is of subpar quality. I see Ruger products on the shelf at my LGS that came out of Mayodan that have scratches and gouges all over them, and can't even seat a magazine. My own LCP has machining marks all over the barrel and extractor that show zero care went into the making of this pistol. Bill Ruger would've been ashamed to see his name on this gun, or on most of the stuff being turned out by the workers in NC.I gave them two stars instead of one solely because they're at least willing to fix it, although I'm pretty sure by law they're required to. My advice is to simply purchase a different product. If money is an issue, you can get a Hi-Point cheaper than anything Ruger makes, and it's one of the most reliable guns on the market. In the rare event it has a problem, Hi-Point will fix it on their dime and not even charge you to ship it to them. It's pretty bad that Ruger should be taking manufacturing and customer service tips from Hi-Point, but it is what it is.If anyone from Ruger's corporate office is reading this, please do some investigation into why your Mayodan guns are so terrible. The anecdotal evidence found online seems to indicate this isn't phenomenon isolated to one make or model; it's factory-wide, and it's effecting every model coming out of North Carolina.
