I witnessed some customers being rude to the employees running the self checkout and I wanted to post my appreciation for the great customer service I always receive. You guys are great; keep it up.
The employees are kind and professional. The quality and selection of food and other items is great. Parking is as expected, but more crowded around lunchtime on weekdays.

This is the first time I met with an unreasonable cashier in my more than 4 years with Costco r Matthews Township. After I scan my membership card, my sister asked me if she could pay for me, the cashier was like walked away to another cashier counter to help her out when there was another person coming to help her, I understand she wanted to help but she could just let us know that “I’ll back in a second “, then back to the counter and told us that the member holder should pay… who are you to decide who pay for our expenses? I don’t want to say this but she is the Karen who is just differentiating colors.

Everyone knows Costco. I imagine it saves lots of families and business a good bit of cash. I'm a single, retired woman who only keeps a membership so I have access to Kevin's meals that are exclusive to Costco. I eat Kevin's every day...mostly the chicken varieties. Costco also carries Kevin's sauces which I can add to things I cook from scratch. Also canned cat food is less expensive at Costco. I live about 45 minutes away from any Costco so I usually make the trip when going to another appointment. My Matthews, NC store is very clean, the employees are professional but happy and willing to help me load heavy items in my car. It is very cost effective for me and my son.

I've been a Costco member for over 20 years. This location is the absolute pits. The parking lot is less than half the size that it needs to be to accommodate the volume of shoppers that go to this place. Expect at least one fight to break out in the parking lot over a space while you are there. Add 10 minutes to the trip to find a person leaving so that you can can park in the road and wait for their space.
Once inside, you will be surrounded by clueless and feckless people who brought their ENTIRE extended family with them to clog up every single aisle. Another 30 minutes added to the trip, negotiating the mouth-breathers.
The checkouts are going to take at least 15 minutes longer than you expect, too. Guess what, your membership to this fun experience has also expired, because, of course it has.
Want a snack on the way out?? That'll be $1.50 and another 30 minutes of your life.
I witnessed a fight yesterday (where some self-entitled dingbat parked his Prius in a non-parking spot blocking in a car AND one of the tire bays) that required Matthews PD to be called to break it up.
Costco has also messed with their own products recently - removing things that have been staples for years and replacing them with stuff nobody wants. I'm talking specifically about the cinnamon raisin bagels being replaced with Blueberry. GROSS.
Overall, this location is lousy and I prefer the Tyvola Rd. location much, MUCH more. The Indian Land location cannot come soon enough.

Caucasian male associate wearing glasses upon entering, appears to be racially profiling patrons. I watched him ask for the membership to melanated people & not to non melanated people smh. Adding 2 more stars for associate Dee. He’s personable.
