“My wife's Jeep Renegade broke down on the highway last week, and fortunately she was able to coast it onto the off ramp and it was close to home. I immediately drove to her, tried to jump start it to no avail, and was able to push it to the nearest gas station. She elected to have it towed to TRC Automotive Repair because it's veteran owned and she had a good experience with brake work in the past that I did not have time to get to myself.
When picking up the Jeep after having a new alternator and serpentine belt installed, I commented on the high cost of the alternator. Aaron was quick to reply that they do markup the cost of parts, and I appreciated his honest no bs straight forward response to my inquiry. Being used to doing most of my own vehicle maintenance, I was just a bit shocked to the cost of paying someone to do the work these days, but as a serial entrepreneur myself I understand and appreciate a fair price for good service.
Just a few days later my wife found herself stranded on the side of the highway once again. This time she was able to restart the vehicle and drive it right back to TRC where she was met by Chris, who helped her the first time. When I told him we were lucky it broke down nearby as she was supposed to be in Raleigh all that day, he expressed concern for insuring they get to the bottom of it. Turns out that after the battery drained when the alternator died, they were unable to get any codes from the system. When test driving it, all seemed fine. This time when connecting the vehicle for diagnostics they were able to get a code for a bad camshaft sensor. Chris said there would be no cost for diagnostics or labor since it was just in, but again there was a hefty markup on the part. I can get that sensor at the local parts store for cheap and replace it in just a few minutes, but I do not own diagnostic equipment, and it was after replacement that they really impressed me and earned my future business.
After replacing the camshaft sensor Chris asked to keep the vehicle overnight to test it further. Now being made aware that my wife travels all over the Carolinas for work, they wanted to insure no future related issues. It wasn't until putting 30 miles on the vehicle both highway and local back roads, that they called to let us know all was good.
Long story short, as a DIY handyman, I'm accustomed to doing any work myself that I can to save money and insure it's done right. When I do turn to professionals for assistance, I'm willing to pay a little more to do business with people I know, like and trust. Today I'm adding TRC Automotive Repair to my short list of folks that meet that requirement. While I hope it's not anytime soon, my wife and I will be back when either of our vehicles need work that I cannot or do not have time to do myself. Thank you Aaron and Chris for being standup guys that offer great service, and show concern and respect for your customers!”
“I had to get some brake work done on my truck recently. I called multiple shops getting prices for the work that needed to be done before I found Loftin's. His price was not only much lower than anywhere else but he was able to get the work done on the same day! This is the only place I'll take my vehicles for repair work now! Extremely trustworthy! I highly recommend!”
“Everyone here was kind, honest, and straightforward. Turns out I didn’t have a transmission issue at all. They advised me what was wrong, and allowed them to service my transmission since I was way overdue. I definitely 100% recommend them!”
“I recently had to have an inspection done on my dad's GMC Canyon and I noticed that the brake lights weren't working so I took it to Firestone in Belmont. They weren't able to fix the situation and they advised me to take the truck to a dealership or to an electrical mechanic. So I went to Victory Chevrolet in Mt. Holly and the service advisor told me that I shouldn't waste any money in the vehicle because it was old and smelled liked mold, mildew and had the worst water damage he's ever seen. I inspected the truck myself and didn't see any water damage, mold or mildew. The smell was actually from some grease and oil that had been in the truck.
Needless to say I was disheartened and didn't know what to do so I looked up mechanics in the Belmont and Mount Holly area.
This is where I came across R&M Auto Center, their reviews were almost perfect so I called them and spoke with Leslie, she was very helpful, professional and pleasant. She set up an appointment for me relatively soon and explained pricing for me. When I arrived, I spoke with Cameron and explained the situation in detail with the brake lights, the driver's window not going down and locks not working. He assured me that it would be taken care of. He also reiterated that the diagnostics fee was $103 and if they didn't resolve the issue in the first 45 or hour then there would be an additional charge for each additional hour.
I left my vehicle overnight and when they call me back the next day, to let me know what the issue was, I was worried but Leslie explained that they found the issue and it was a simple fix for the brake lights. I was extremely happy about the price because I was thinking the worst. They finished my vehicle and did my inspection as well in a timely manner.
When I picked up my vehicle I was surprised that the driver's window worked and the locks on the truck worked as well and yes the brake lights were fixed. They took care of everything and didn't try to exploit the situation. Overall, I would definitely recommend R & M Auto Center for your vehicle's repairs because they are truly honest, upfront and do great work on your vehicle for a very fair price.”
“Received $5 off in the mail and gave them a try. No wait for state mandated inspection, duties performed by 2 technicians, very fast and efficient. Will use them again.”
“Gilberto was very professional and accommodating considering we broke down and had to bring it in right away. Price was good and diagnosis was spot on. Caught an electrical problem faster than most many mechanics would have that I've experienced in my time. Definitely would recommend! Thanks guys!

“I had my wife’s car brakes replaced and I had a front end alignment done on my truck. The staff were very knowledgeable about what I needed and very friendly as well. This is where all my vehicle maintenance will be done from now on.”
“Moved to the area recently, but still went to my old mechanic back towards Asheville. After the hurricane he was unavailable and I needed work on my car asap, Mike was recommended, and after a few minute conversation with him, I can see why. Mike was quick to get me in that day, even with a full schedule, diagnosed the issue within a couple hours, he was honest and professional and told me exactly what I needed done, his price was actually much less than the national average for the job, and he had me on the road by the end of the day. Overall, five stars for price, professionalism, and honesty. Mike and his crew are my new mechanics from here on out.”
