Horrible experience with this bank. A relative left me a CD which was 'payable on death'. I live in another state and called this bank no less than 8 times requesting information on the amount of time I had to claim the CD. I got the run around every time. The woman would laugh and say you better hurry up. When i pressed her for a time frame she laughed again and said as soon as possible. When I drove down to cash out the CD the same woman had the audacity to say she had tried for months to contact me. That was a lie. When I asked if I could open a savings account and leave the money there i was told no, when i asked why she replied that federal law said I had to live in North Carolina . That is another lie. I asked at my bank, which is bank of America. Do yourself a favor, put your money in a bank that hires and trains their employees to conduct themselves in a professional manner and to answer questions with actually words and not laughter.

I've been banking with Carter Bank and Trust for six years now. Overall I've been pleased with them. They do have debit cards but no online banking. It's a small town bank, once you get to know the people that work there they generally do whatever they can to help you long as they aren't breaking too many rules. I've tossed around the idea of switching to a more modern bank but I like the people there they know me by name when I walk in the door and know my voice if I call on the phone. They have always provided exceptional customer service. The main thing I love about this bank is the hours of operation this makes doing business there very convenient. How many banks are open from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm.? For what I need this bank is perfect for me.
