Really cool spot. Lots of good info. Nice staff. There’s a huge prehistoric whale jaw bone. I met a bear. We’re bff’s now. You should go check it out.

Has some interesting hiking trails. We could not find a place for the general public to hang out on the water`s edge.

Want to see an American alligator? How about a rookery of herons? Perhaps a scenic hike around the mysterious Carolina Bay lake, Lake Waccamaw? This is the park for you! Friendly rangers and park staff, clean facilities, and a great place for a picnic.

Nicely kept trails and a clean informative rangers station. Park in the lot at the end of the road to cut off a couple miles of Lakeshore Trail and reach the dam easier.

This is a beautiful gem hidden in south-eastern North Carolina. The view on the lake is breath-taking, the campsites are generously sized and the Park staff are second to none. My family and I enjoy visiting several times a year.

Friendly park with beautiful views, boardwalks and great park rangers.Interesting facts shared in the visitor center and neat exhibits.Just outside the park are some wild alligators, so that added to the experience.

It's a beautiful park that is well maintained. The trails are nice, and the views of the lake are stellar. There are restroom facilities at the park office and at the boardwalk or overlook. There are miles of trails, so it is very good for hiking. The campsites are nice, though I haven't camped there yet, but lots of people use them.

Fun little state park. Different hiking trails of varying lengths, though all flat because of the geography. Some trails stroller/wheelchair accessible. Lots of mosquitoes in the hot months.

Park borders a Carolina Bay of some size. I think it around 14 miles across. The park occupies roughly 4 miles of shoreline, and has a hiking trail for its entire length.I was on an organized bird outing and consequently walked little of it. The trail passes through marshy growth and pine forest; flat and not especially interesting.

I love this State Park. The wooded areas have great walking trails. The swim area dock was just upgraded this summer and it's a quick walk from the parking area. I take my dog for long swims in summer weather since you don't have to deal with tides and rip currents. Clean restrooms at rangers station \\u0026 camping sites available.
