I heard they had a knife making class and I was skeptical but decided to give it a shot as a first timer. I left super impressed and really invigorated about blacksmithing. Amazing place to start, really walk you through each step. Due to the timing and liabilities, there are some thing knife nerds might want to know. They do not do a true quench to harden the knife, and the blacksmith holds the knife with tongs and you take turns hammering the knife and refining the steel. This makes it a great place to start for beginners of all ages, but it left me wanting to do the full process working out the re-bar base. Another small thing is they did not allow us to use power tools such as belt grinders, which means the edge making was going to be slower as you did it by hand. It wasn't that bad at all, but if you are on a time crunch, you are going to have a decorative knife that you can add a full handle and sharpen at home. All of that aside, the guide was super friendly and very helpful. The property was beautiful and if you bring your family, make sure you get them to walk with the Alpacas, they are super fun as well. Great place to learn about blacksmithing for first timers and a lot of fun for people who have tried it before, but don't want to spend the 12+ hrs for the full process.

If you are looking for a unique and wonderful place to host your event this is the place. Anna and her staff were on point with organization and attentive service. The venue it’s self is stunning inside as well as having outstanding views out of every window. To top it all off Coe’s food was amazing. From eggs to chicken risotto it rivaled the food you would find at a top tier restaurant. I can not thank Earthshine enough for making my wedding perfect.

I stayed for almost an entire week for a writing retreat. Megan H was absolutely superb. She could not have done a better job managing the lodge while I was there. She was professional, friendly, and efficient. Megan K led three activities I was on and she was absolutely incredible! All staff at the lodge were excellent. Aside from this, the rooms were clean, aesthetically pleasing, and the views were INCREDIBLE. I will definitely be back and I would highly recommend Earthshine Lodge to anyone!! 5 stars.

Stayed at Earthshine this July and absolutely loved our time! As we parked our car, we were greeted by stunning views of the surrounding forest and mountains. The main lodge is something truly special. We could only marvel at its beautiful wooden architecture and design. It felt like something out of a movie or postcard.Walking into the lodge, we were warmly greeted by the lodge manager (Megan). She showed us around the expansive seating area and explained the available activities before showing us to our room.The room was rustic, clean and beautifully decorated. Our room like many in the Main Lodge featured large windows offering great views of the mountains and forest. The bed was very comfortable and was nicely decorated with warm blankets.After getting settled in and unpacked, we made our way to the front porch to enjoy the views. To our pleasant surprise, there were several feeders set-up that were attracting loads of adorable little hummingbirds. We enjoyed some refreshments and relaxation while dinner was being prepared.For dinner, Earthshine’s staff prepared some very yummy black bean burgers, sweet potato fries, brussel sprouts and salad. We follow a vegetarian diet, and it was really great to see this accommodated by the lodge. For dessert, the staff served us a gooey chocolate banana cake that really hit the spot.We spent some more time on the porch watching the sunset, before heading into the main lodge area to play some card games they keep on hand.We retired to our room for the evening and fell asleep to the sound of thunder in the distance. I slept very well and woke up feeling rested and refreshed.The next day, we enjoyed breakfast in the main lodge area.They had an excellent selection of teas and coffees, which are a must have for my mornings.After breakfast, we took a hike up the hill behind the lodge and were greeted by even more views of the most rains and forests. The property they have is truly something special. I know we just barely scratched the surface of things to do at Earthshine, so we will definitely be back to experience more of what they offer and to explore the beautiful area around Lake Toxaway.Our stay was overall very relaxing and rejuvenating. I would absolutely return to the Earthshine Lodge in the future to escape the busyness of the world. A true sanctuary that offers a unique, rustic and luxurious experience.

The Llama Hike was so much fun! The weather was perfect today - had so much fun with these fellas. Highly recommend for the whole family. Not a strenuous hike and has some great views. My part was teamed with Fritz, Lightning (who was super slow lol) and Mr Delicious.Llama Caddy was a great host - he takes very good care of these animals. Even showed us some baby Llamas he had.Will definitely do again on my next road trip to NC.

The lodge is rustic and quiet. Good place to get away. Overpriced! We stayed there because they include two meals in the price of your stay. It was not worth it. Dinners were not good at all. Pizza casserole was served one night .. This was a dish I would've served on a weeknight using leftovers from the pantry. Water pressure was good. The rooms are clean. We were told we would be reimbursed for meals after we complained, but that has yet to happen.

This was an amazing experience!! I learned so much about llamas. I really appreciated how the host explained the history and background of every llama in order for you to connect with them on a deeper level. They were great with the kids in my group. I fell in love with my llama “KING” & wanted to take him home. The host provided a photographer which was great to capture the moment as the scenery is beautiful. I didn’t want the hike to end! I definitely recommend this experience to anyone who loves animals and looking for a new great experience.

A hidden gem. Gorgeous mountain setting on a lovely piece of property. Loved the meal plan and community feel of breakfast and dinner time. Upper and lower decks provided outside eating options. We made friends with the other families staying in the lodge and our kids had a blast playing soccer and roasting marshmallows together. Also - the llama hike (around the property) surpassed all expectations and is a 'must-do' activity! Matt and Jessie were amazing hosts - we will be back with our family!

I came here once with my school in 6th grade with my dad and we loved it so much we had to come back i'm a junior in college now. I would recommend this to any green vegetation lover, and any peace nature quiet lover. Their food was amazing years ago and still is.

What a wonderful weekend! We had our 25th anniversary celebration weekend with family and friends at Earthshine and a terrific time was had by all. The warm hospitality shown by Matt and Jessie was greatly appreciated. The food was incredible! Even though we had a rainy day, Earthshine lodge provided plenty of space to relax by yourself or sit with new and old friends. We cannot thank Matt, Jessie and all the staff for helping us make our celebration more than we could have imagined.We can't wait to go back! Earthshine now holds a special place in our hearts.

Earthshine Lodge is absolutely beautiful! The views are breathtaking! The llama hike activity they have was wonderful and so much fun! If you ever have a chance to visit this place I would definitely go! The llamas were so soft, cuddly and kind! The guides were very nice and knew so much about the llamas! One of the best and coolest experiences I’ve ever had! :)
