Do yourself and your pet-pal a favor. Instead of Wake, go over to Oak Heart. It is a 15 min drive from Wake, and a world of difference.Arrived with a rescued from highway dog. These folks were (and I told them such) basically useless. Contacted Oak Heart? They were ready by time I got there. Dog was recieved excellent care, at a better price and just today recieved follow-up call to check on pup.Reject these folks - go to a better place. Oak Heart.

I have brought my cat here twice now, both times for emergency care. The first time he was just having an upset stomach, the second was more serious. Both times the staff were all very caring and sweet to both me and Nacho (my orange boy), but Dr Kemp was an absolute blessing and went over everything with me, and worked with me to make sure the care was something I could afford and be practical in helping my buddy feel better. I could never thank her and the folks at WVHUC. So, big thanks to everyone but especially my MVP Dr Kemp ?

We came to Wake with no clue what was wrong with our baby, Delta. I was frantic and confused because this emergency was very sudden and unexpected. The entire staff was incredibly kind and helpful and made us feel welcome and at ease. I hated leaving her but I never left a visit feeling that she would not be well cared for. I want to give a special thanks to Grace. I think she was there every time we visited during Delta's stay and she absolutely loved Grace. All the doctors we saw were great but we talked with Dr. Steen quite a bit. He was extremely patient with us, answered any and all questions, and he had to answer them twice for me.Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I highly recommend Wake Vet Hospital. They take great care the fur babies and their families.

I want to thank all the staff for their kindness and understanding and helping me understand what the best coarse of action for my cat would be. From the phone call the lady was so sweet and talked me through everything I needed to do, when I walked in she immediately called triage and they rushed my baby to the back. Unfortunately it was too late for her but the staff and doctor made everything so heartwarming with how much they cared about my cat and about me. Every staff member I encountered told me numerous times how sorry they were for my loss and I couldn’t thank them enough. My cat Tini had been with my through my hardest battles especially with my abusive ex husband , she helped me survive. Thank you Dr Pagan for doing everything you could to try and make her stable and make sure she was comfortable in her last moments. The staff gave me all the time I needed to be with her in her last moments and saying goodbye. Could not recommend this place enough. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

I have been taking my pets to Wake for years. They started assigning me to Dr. Gagliano on a consistent basis. I was concerned that my dog had black stains on her teeth, so I scheduled an appointment. Dr. Gagliano did not seem to know what the black stains were. She gave me a number of alternatives such as a teeth cleaning or going to a pet store and buying a tooth cleaning product. No specific recommendation was suggested. That will be $57, thank you. I was obviously not satisfied. I took my sweet pup home and scratched on the black stains with a dental tool. With a little effort, the stains came off. So I took her to a different vet who told me that the stains could be cleaned off with a dental cleaning. She also identified a badly broken molar that might need to be extracted depending on what an xray tells us about the condition of the whole tooth. Wake has a whole slew of very young vets while they continue to add space to their facility. They seem more concerned about getting bigger and growing their bottom line than the welfare of my best friend. Please, do your research and take your pet elsewhere.

I took my puppy there on December 30th with a swollen abdomen and he was in pain wouldnt eat or play. I did not wait cause the day before he was running around playing and was perfectly fine. I called before I came in and told them what was going on and made sure they could see him before driving up there. After being there for 4 hours the vet came in and said my puppy looked like he had fluid in his abdomen from the x-ray but they did an ultrasound to rule that out and he just ate to much and in her words he was stuffed like a Christmas turkey. They gave him some Zofran pain meds and fluid under his skin and Told me he was stable and he might have diarrhea but he was going to be ok also to give him some infant gas x cause that was what was causing his pain and sent me on my way. Not even 15 hours later I was sitting at another emergency vet and in 45 min to an hour of being there told me my puppy was not stable and never was. All his lab work came back abnormal. His sugar was low because he wouldnt eat which i told them at both vets. They requested his records from this office and didn't do an xray because of the one done the night before and said they could clearly see that there was fluid. Pulled 100cc out of his abdomen and recommended to me that he stay for a couple of days so they can try and get him stable. Not even 5 hours after leaving him there I get the call that my puppy passed away. I feel like the negligence from this office caused him to do so. I don't know if they were just so overwhelmed with the amount of animals they had there or if it was because I was not from the area or what but they did not give my puppy a fighting chance. It was not his heart that caused all of this. It was caused by a liver shunt and from what the second vet said if it was caught early and he would have received treatment the night before to get the fluid out of his abdomen and also if they would have made sure with out a reason of doudt that he was stable his chance of survival would have been greater he still might not of survived but I would have known they did all they could to save his life. This office did not do that. I would have never of expected this from a bigger vet office in that area. My little country town emergency vet office which has less resources caught what was wrong with him and did all they could to save him.

We put our dog to sleep after 12 years today. To say he declined rapidly and we were not expecting this, is an understatement. Everyone from the initial phone call, the vet tech's, and the doctor were so thoughtful and caring. It was a peaceful process and everyone around us helped us through this situation and we're very grateful. Price was discussed up front because, yes it could be expensive but we didn't want our dog to suffer.Thank you, Wake Vetinarian Hospital.

Would give them 10 stars if I could, I've been twice for emergency, after-hours care. Once for allergy and once for an issue that turned out to be cancer. They were the kindest, most patient pet care staff. Never felt rushed, never felt clinical only, they gave us all the options and supported our decisions. They do triage, so in a less extreme case you could be waiting awhile, but I completely recommend this staff to take care of you and your pets.

We took our TWC there after he bolted out the door and went for a jaunt in the woods and came back in rough shape. He got entangled in a thorny bush and had a severe allergic reaction. We called to inform them we were on our way and they triaged him right way. The techs and doctor were so caring and informative when taking care of Bandit. We will use them again if the need arises.

Dr. Hinson is the absolute best!! I can't even put into words how grateful I am for the time and care she put into resolving my dogs skin issues when many other vets simply diagnosed as allergies. We are now on a path to resolution and my dog is feeling great!!

We took my brother's dog in for throwing up (1×) and diarrhea (2x). My brother unable to be there. The vet was very informative. BUT, he seemed more concerned about running more tests than reasonably needed. My brother agreed to the excessive testing. But when he suggested intravenous fluids, I said that was it, no more. End result: inconclusive diagnosis and $839 bill. Be aware of testing actually needed

The biggest shoutout to WAKE for taking amazing care of our boy Astro. Bladder stones are no joke. We called a few places in a hurry as the matter was time sensitive. We live in Dunn but opted WAKE over closer animal hospitals due to Amber’s AMAZING customer service. She didn’t hesitate to call our vet and elsewhere to acquire necessary documents to try to help save us money on running the same tests. From start to finish we were completely blown away from every interaction with staff. Special shout out to Dr. Gardner and Dr. Harris, his amazing vet techs, Amber, Meghan and really all of the staff we interacted with. 10/10 experience start to finish.

Brought my Chihuahua here for an emergency last night and Dr. Kemp was phenomenal! Took the time to really explain my dog’s problems and showing examples of what a healthy heart looks like compared to my dog’s. Offered great suggestions for at home care that I really appreciated. The night staff was also so friendly, I love this clinic and plan on switching my dogs over to them for all care.
