The rest of the store is fine, but I was as close to a regular at the firearm and shooting range section as I could manage. While the range amenities and staff are great, the rules, policies, and firearm selection have been changing for worse, especially as of late. I'm not sure I could give a higher review or even continue patronage because of uniformed decisions such as: 1. Restricted AR15 policy. This has always been a rule, but a range touting a rating up to .50BMG doesn't allow AR15's except on TUESDAYS? Ridiculous. 2. Braced pistols are downright banned for some arbitrary reason (and apparently even registered Short Barreled Rifles in some situations), although they are perfectly legal. Why can I use NFA items like suppressors but not a braced pistol? 3. Firearm selection for purchase/rental use has slowly whittled down to simple handguns or hunting rifles/shotguns exclusively. Purchasing or renting sporting rifles/pistols is out of the question. What a waste. I enjoy the environment, but despite the staff's best efforts, I can tell my type of customer base is not going to be welcome much longer at this rate; it feels like they don't want my business. Do with that as you please.

Great staff, decent prices considering the other stores throughout the area also. Have always been helped when visiting the Kinston location regardless of the day of week or hours I have visited.

I've been going here for YEARS with my surf fishing family. We went down for Labor Day, stopped at both locations. I couldn't help but notice they're catering to more "upper class" individuals. This use to be a great place for a family of any walk of life to get nice items at low prices. The selection of higher end items is great but not everyone is looking to pay those prices. I also noticed they've basically quit carrying the Neuse sport shop t-shirts, our family loved them. I guess the profit wasn't big enough. With that said if you want a t-shirt it's going to be name brand and $25+. I feel like they're forgetting the folks that helped this business become so successful and a staple for salt water fishermen. Really disappointing to see what Neuse's Sport Shop has turned into.

My daughter and son-in-law went to their shop and bought me a rod and reel combo for my birthday. We made the 5 1/2 hour trip to visit them and they surprised me with it when I got there. I was so excited. I’m 47 and was probably the best gift I have received as an adult; especially from one of my children. That night we went fishing and I was able to use my brand new rod. It broke within 20 minutes of me fishing with it. My son-in-law tried to return it two days later without the receipt just to swap it for another rod and reel combo. He literally spoke to the same sales person that checked him out and they would not swap it out. Now I have to buy parts to fix it. That is by far the worst experience we have had at a fishing shop. If that’s how you treat your customers, I will never spend another penny in your store and would highly encourage anyone else to find somewhere else to patronize. That is the epitome of taking advantage of someone. All because he didn’t have a little piece of paper. What a joke!

I've shopped here all my life, it used to be the place to get all fishing & hunting supplies BUT, many, many times now, they're out of want you want or need!! Happened again today!! Out of spinnerbait skirts! Out in the past of crickets, a particular everyday use hook, on & on. Guess I'll have to start shopping elsewhere. Have to drive 20 to 30 miles to get what I need!!!

As I write this, I recently signed up for the New Shooter class. Talk about great service! The service is personal, helpful, and informative. Although I am a beginner when it comes to handguns, the staff did not make me feel like I was d*** or that I couldn't learn. Thanks so much to Sean for answering all my questions and being so helpful. This will be my go to sports shop from now on for all my sporting goods and range training. I look forward to taking as many classes as you offer. Thank you so much for your help!

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We found what we were looking for at a reasonable price. I give 4 stars because other than their fishing department, the prices seem a bit higher.

I took my son shooting for the first time. The range safety officer Scott was extremely helpful, and most importantly made sure proper safety rules were being followed.

Great place to stop on the way to the beach and get fishing supplies, grills, clothes and use the bathroom.Great place to stop on the way home. They sell fruit and vegetables outside. Great cantaloupes, watermelons, peaches and tomatoes. Need a knife, gun, or hunting supplies, they've got it.

Great for taking a break before the beach to stretch your legs and let the kids look around. Large fish tank to entertain them. Large selection let's you grab anything you forgot before reaching your destination.

I have been coming to the Neuse for more than 40 years, and it just keeps getting better. I do, however, miss the gas pumps that used to be out front. From the gun sales to the firing range to the top of the line hunting and fishing gear to the household shop, Christmas shop, ladies clothing, live bait, and fun apparel, you can't NOT find something for everyone! During season, there are some folks who sell fresh produce out front.

Great tackle shop, they have it all, salt or freshwater. I could spend hours browsing. Has become a mandatory stop on any passing trip. They have other stuff too, but honestly I don't know what other than some boat accessories.

I was just in this store and I have to admit I haven’t been in there in a while. I was looking around at everything, and they do have a lot of very nice inventory. I wasn’t really looking for anything specific but I did decide that would like to look at the knives. I walked around the counter, and there was one person being helped, I waited and when that person was done I thought surely it would be time for me to get some help. Instead the young man that was working did not even acknowledge me, and he sat down as I walked around looking at the knives and talking about them with a friend. I waited a few minutes for help big never got any so I left. I don’t know if I will go back. Not a single associate spoke to me the entire time I was in the store. A total of probably 30 minutes.
