Dr. Howard and his staff has always been caring, professional, and very personable. All of our pets have had the best of care. Any time we call we are seen in a very timely manor. I have adopted senior cats and they all needed special care, Dr. Howard is always so kind and takes time to explain everything to us. Our one dog was recently diagnosed with kidney diseas. Dr. Howard was quick to get us to the right people and place. My husband and myself feel very secure about taking our pets to Carolina Forest Animal Clinic and Dr. Howard has been a blessing to us. can't recommend him and his staff enough.

I want to warn everyone about DR. Melvin Howard! He totally flipped his script when I didn't want to give my cat a microchip. He has a temper of a two year old and kicked me out of the office with no explanation Other than that I was too difficult. I wouldn't recommend anyone go to this office. I'm a very respectful person and would never speak or treat anyone the way they treated me today. Thank goodness animed hospitality is top tier. they refunded me for the over priced visit and now I'm paying like half of what he charged so I guess he did me a favor. I was shocked with his demeanor. So just be aware he doesn't have any self control and wouldn't want anyones animal to suffer because he can't hold his temper together. I understand people have bad days but he was totally out of line. the office was empty and I see why now. P.s. he was loud and obnoxious and it made my cats even more nervous. If you go you will see what I mean. They also don't let you go back with your pet during the exam. What vets office does that? Makes zero sense.

Dr. Howard saw our dog Eddie through an emergency visit we were seen on time and had a diagnosis and treatment plan by the end of the appointment. When we came to Dr. Howard we knew that Eddie had some form of cardiac disease we just weren't aware of the extent. Dr. Howard treated not only Eddie but my husband and I like family. We truly thank him for all the care he gave Eddie to assist in making him comfortable for the last few months we had him.

SO happy with my visit. Staff were extremely nice, welcoming, and friendly. The vet (Mr. Howard) was so pleasant and happy to take care of my cat. He was very honest and even took pix of my kitty while he was taking care of him in the room and showed me them afterwards! This was extremely comforting since they do not allow you to go in the rooms due to covid. Definitely will be taking my kitty here from now on!

I feel really on the fence writing this review. My only experience here was this past Thursday with my 6 month puppy. Maybe they are actually awesome, but my experience was a bit frustrating and my husband and I won't be returning. The clinic wasn't allowing owners to be in the exam room with their pets (as far as I was aware- they took him back without telling me one way or another, so I assumed I couldn't), but they were allowing you inside... So that was a bit weird. My puppy's paperwork was only 6-7 physical pages, and I emailed 3 pages from Vetco. Most of his physical papers were just adoption paperwork, but I keep them all together so I don't lose anything. Only about 3 physical pages (ALL papers were one sided) were medical records. I also had my cats records stapled together separately so they wouldn't be mistaken as his. I told the receptionist that all of his vaccinations were in his paperwork except for his final round of vaccinations, which were in the email I sent from Vetco. I think I ended up repeating this 3 times as I stood there. She actually told me that since she couldn't locate his vaccinations on his records he couldn't have had them. She also told me that the last time he had monthly preventatives was in July, even though I told her he was given Nexgard and Heartgard at Vetco... which she would have known if she looked at those records I repeated to her multiple times. It honestly would have been faster if I'd taken the papers from her and read off the dates to her myself. She was still putting in records by the time I was checked out and ready to leave (My cats records were longer, but all his due dates were at the top on the first page). The entire time I was standing there, I wondered if I was supposed to be filling out a new client form, but I wasn't handed anything so I assumed not. It wasn't until Scooby was already given back to me (we will go back to his actual appt after this) that she asked me to start filling a client form out. So at this point I had Scooby's leash in one hand, filling out the form with the other, and the assistant/tech was asking me to hand her my card so she could check me out... I didn't really have enough hands and I felt like all of this was being rushed at the very end of the appt. Now for the actual appt: 1. The doctor barely spoke to me. I had a lot happening with the paperwork when she handed him back, so I couldn't give her my full attention, but I'm pretty sure all she said was that he was all set. She didn't speak to me about his exam or ask if I had any questions. I had to ask the tech/assistant each question and then she stepped out of view to ask the doctor and then gave me the answer. Speaking of which, I'm not sure how well they actually looked at him because this was only last Thursday, and yet one of my pups ears were really waxy and smelled slightly- similarly to a yeast infection (the other was clean) Sunday night, so I cleaned them concerned he may be showing signs of an early infection. I didn't know it was gross though, because he hadn't been itching them more than the usual amount. I gave them another good cleaning yesterday with my husbands help just in case. 2. I was there for an exam (I needed more flea/tick/heartworm prevention), anal gland expression, and heartworm test. I was told since he was just turning 6 months they would not be doing the heartworm test, but none of the other things I was there for required a blood draw... so I have no logical explanation for why he came back to me with a bandage on his leg.... I certainly wasn't charged for a heartworm test, or given the results for one, so why did they poke my dog? 3. During his exam (I can only assume since I was waiting in the front), Scooby came wandering out to the front without anyone with him... they didn't know where he was. The tech actually poked her head out the door in the hallway and said "So that's where you wandered off to"... Why did no one have their

Dr. Howard and his staff have taken such great care of our fur babies. I have never had a vet treat my babies with so much love and care. We recently had to put our frenchie down, and it was devastating, but my heart is so grateful for the wonderful care this team gave Mika even through her final visit. She loved them, and got to spend a lot of time with them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Avoid! I called around 9:30am to see about getting our dog in for an appointment due to a hot spot on his head (something he's prone to over the summer). They said they could "work him in at 10:30 but they're extremely busy." I agreed and the girl said for a same-day appointment the cost is $85, not including treatment. I thought that was insane but my dog needed to get the sore on his head treated. Upon arrival, the lobby was dead and almost no cars in the parking lot. Wouldn't let me stay with my dog for the exam because of COVID-19, even though I offered to wear a mask. They took him right away and before I could even fill out the paperwork they were calling me saying he needed an antibiotic injection, oral antibiotics, and a medicated shampoo. I questioned the injection because we've never been given an injection for a hot spot in the 6-years we've had our dog. Along with the shampoo. Normally he's given an antibiotic and a cream and we're sent on our way. How do I know, since I can't go to an exam room that they did administer a $50 injection? When I went back inside to pay for the services and medications I'm pretty sure my jaw hit the floor when they told me the total cost would be $235!!! That's absurd!!! I will definitely not be returning to Carolina Forest Animal Clinic. Oh, and as I was leaving, a lady rushed her gecko into the clinic after she had just walked about because once she got to her car it stopped breathing - according to her, the gecko was fine before coming to the vet.

These reviews are really deceiving . Decided to go in because of the great star reviews and comments however my dog was labeled spoiled and not treated well at all , had to take her to the emergency later that night.
