“Last year, I bought the organic compost raised bed soil, and it was fantastic. This year, I thought I was buying the exact same soil, but the stuff is total trash - super hydrophobic, dusty, and very large chunks of mulch throughout. It's been raining for the past two days and under the first little bit of soil, the soil is still dry!!! Don't even know how they can sell this.Edit: the company contacted to fix the problem - said they will redeliver soil and that there must have been a mix up when ordering, or it was simply a bad batch. Will update again after delivery.Update: the company delivered quality soil to our home.Really appreciate the service, and their promise to deliver high quality products.”

“Exceptional service. Couldn't be happier!We came to Dearness in search of a mitigation tree to be planted in response to Charlotte's new UDO Tree Ordinance. After touring the nursery and unable to find a proper tree I procured the help of the staff. Madison took us to the front of the property where the large tree specimens are kept and assisted us with her expertise and knowledge. She took a considerable interest in the Tree Ordinance documents that I had brought with me as she had not heard of the new program. Madison explained our options and suggested waiting to plant due to the hot summer weather and that they may be able to locate a larger, straight varietal magnolia from one of their farms. We decided to secure a tree that day and leave it Dearness' care until the time came to plant and see if an alternative tree could be located. Madison provided her contact information and requested I forward her the information of the City's planting requirements to ensure they could meet them.We were already impressed with the level of service we had received during our visit to the nursery but what was truly exceptional was the ongoing communication and support that we received thereafter. Madison stayed in constant contact, relaying updates of the search for an alternate tree and confirming that they could plant per the City's requirements. We opted to proceed in planting the tree we had secured at Dearness and Madison handed us off to Kristy to schedule the planting. Again, a high level of service and communication was received from Kristy and the planting was scheduled. The day of planting came and Rankin and his crew arrived, professional and courteous. They took extreme care not to damage the newly sown grass seed in the yard, explained proper care of the tree, and even confirmed our satisfaction of the orientation of the tree once it was in the ground.Needless to say we have been completely blown away by our experience with Dearness. This level of service is rarely received from businesses today and as a result, Dearness has earned a customer for life!”

“Garth at Shephards is helpful, responsive, and knowledgeable! He helped us with a large landscaping project, arranging to transplant shrubs from their Catawba farm for delivery to our home. The other local nurseries were out of stock, meaning we would have to wait until spring for the shrubs. The plants are healthy and beautiful, we were given planting instructions, proper soil, and biotone fertilizer…but most of all we were given personalized, awesome customer service. He made this month long project a breeze! We will use them for all our future needs! Thanks Garth!”
