Irwin Carmichael and his team are amazing! I took their women's self-defense class and learned a ton. It is also open to teens, so it's a great thing to take your daughter or niece to. Their concealed carry class is educational and informative and open to all skill levels. Check out their website. They have lots to offer! The CWP class was great! I learned so much. The instructors are great! Extreamly knowledgeable, and take time to answer questions, and demonstrate. I look forward to taking more classes in the future.

My wife and I recently attended the conceal carry class here. Very complete and very thorough class. They took care of everything we needed for the course. Mr. Carmichael and Mr. Presley are very professional and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend this location for anyone about to go for CCW in N.C. High value for money spent, and facilities lacking in nothing. Treat you like family. Can't say enough good things.

My kids started 4 years ago and they have gained great skills and confidence.Mr. Hartsell is very knowledgeable and have a great ability to bring out the best in children of all levels and abilities.The atmosphere is very family orient, the classes are open to adults as well, wich I personally enjoy very much.I'm very grateful that we found this place.

I came here for my Conceal and Carry Class with Sheriff Irwin Carmichael. This man has my up most respect. He stood up and taught the class for 8 hours with solid information, I really was oblivious to how much crime is actually committed. Everyone working that day was super cool. The best part is the include lunch, a firearm( to qualify) ammo, eye and hearing protection and candy. Also, during breaks we were encouraged to practice using the laser firearm and rifle, very cool. The Sr. Range master( I can not remember his name srry sir) was very helpful during my qualifying and helped increase my accuracy with a few pointed tips about my finger placement. Steve was very helpful and they have a pretty cool pro shop where you can purchase a bunch of cool stuff. I bought 4 pepper sprays( 2 for $15) and a defensive flashlight with built in taser. Everyone was treated fairly and everyone was respected. Didn't feel out of place one time and even made some new range buddies to hit the range with. Overall AAA experience/ 5 star rating.

I trained at the Martial Arts Training Institute for many years under some the most qualified instructors in the United States. Mr. Carmichael and Mr. Hartsell are not only two of the finest instructors in the area, but two of the best role models I could ever wish to have. Their lessons continue to guide me not only in my martial arts career but in my life as well.

I'm a parent of two black belt children. I cannot begin to tell you how the positive attributes and training they received from MATI has shaped their lives. They started at five years old, and one of them was part of MATI through 4th Degree as an Asst Instructor. MATI taught them FOCUS, discipline, respect for others, self-confidence, better health through exercise, and, of course, how to protect themselves against bullies. MATI has your back and supports you in time of need! I cannot thank you enough Mr. Hartsell, Mrs. Hawkins and Mr. Carmichael for the characteristics you instilled in my children, now adults, that will last forever. You're amazing!

I took my concealed carry class here for the state. Sherrif Irwin's class was very professional, great real life situations while applying the laws, and he was very patient with our many questions during the day class. I would say with his top notch experience in the law enforcement background; he provided a great learning atmosphere for us students and I hope to come back in the future for the other classes he offers. It is a great responsibility to concealed carry and Sheriff Irwin's class is the place to come to learn from the best.

Just completed the Concealed Carry class with Sheriff Carmichael. As a former CMPD officer, I would highly recommend this class. He is very knowledgeable and thorough. The entire staff is very hands on, and willing to help you and give you the confidence needed to carry a concealed weapon. You will not be disappointed. Nobody ever wants to be put in the situation of using a handgun. But after attending this class you will be ready if it arises. Thank You!
