Avoid like the plague, which might be what your animal will get if you take it there.

I cannot say enough good things about Hillsborough Vet Clinic. Dr. Martinez has taken beyond amazing care of my pets. She always lets me know all of my options and guides me through every step. Her knowledge, compassion (for the owners and pets), and trust worthiness are evident in every interaction. I have never had a bad experience here, all the staff are kind to me and my pups. I will be forever grateful for every single one of them!!

Have been coming to Hillsborough Veterinary Clinic for a long time, and with multiple dogs ~ Maggie, Buddy, Max, and now Louie. Excellent, no bs service, and the staff is welcoming and warm. Dr Mac has been my go-to vet, so can't speak for the others, but have been very happy with all my visits. I recently had to put down my elder dog, Buddy and even though I could not come in (Covid time), they asked me to send in a piece of my clothing and told me they would surround him with love. That was heartbreaking, but I trusted in their care and how they would make sure Buddy left peacefully. A few days later, I received a card from Dr Mac and the staff with best wishes, and also letting me know he left relaxed and peacefully, with my shirt near him. Tender loving care. That is how it feels here for me. My new pup, Louie will continue with them.

I have been a client at Hillsborough Vet for almost 10 years and they are wonderful. The office staff, the receptionist, are always friendly and helpful. I have a very active cat and a sweet dog that both need some help and they have been wonderful with each visit. They have performed surgeries on my animals as well as answered general questions. The vets are kind and informative and I would recommend Hillsborough Vet to anyone

I took my senior dog here because she was developing a large mass on her rear left leg. I wanted to know how much surgery would be to remove the mass. They were good getting her in quickly but from there it went down hill (one of the reasons I chose them was because other highly rated vets in the area were not seeing new clients). It took a fair while once we got into the room for her to be seen. She is very talkative around other animals/smells and the wait did not make anything better. Vet came in. Looks at the tumor briefly and takes her temperature. Said a biopsy would need to be done before a treatment plan could be formulated and she would need to be put under for the biopsy. Did mention she had an ear infection Still nothing at this point that is alarming. Wife picked her up later and the bill was $600! Lots of grumbling from me but it gets worse. Get a call two days later that the biopsy was inconclusive and that another one would need to be done. So I say no and figure we will plan on something in the future. We have since moved to another state and the tumor was getting worse and she's having problems walking. So I found a highly rated vet and took her in. The difference in how she was treated made me decide to write this review. 1) the vet came in and spent probably 15 minutes with us. She fully evaluated the tumor (including feeling it and tugging on it) and was 95% confident that it was a fatty tumor (it was). Her question was not how to get it out but how to make sure everything went back together properly. Took the dog to one of the other doctors to discuss this prior to anything else. 2) She stated that it would be better to remove it first then biopsy afterwards if needed. Said they would be able to tell immediately if it was invasive and cancerous once they got inside the leg. She said we could biopsy it later (we didn't but the cost was $160 for comparison) 3) when she was going through the procedure details, she mentioned that blood work would need to be done prior to administering anesthetic. That was never mentioned at this vet so if they did I don't know. Because we got a call the day of the surgery to confirm everything was good. 4) still had the ear infection so for $20 we got the cleaning solution and antibiotics to take care of it. Based on the prior experience, I was expecting the surgery to be $2500-3000. Turned out the total cost was $890 +$95 for the initial visit and the ear infection stuff. We took her in on July 3rd for initial visit. Surgery was completed on July 5th and she's having the drain taken out today (July 8th). She is much happier and it is much easier for her to walk. I don't think I've ever thought this about a business but all I can say is these people are a bunch of gold-diggers. Do your research and find a vet that also cares for large animals (supposed to be a good one near Graham). You'll be much happier with the care you receive and you won't have to put off needed care for your pets because of the cost.
