Exercise Caution...While I initially loved the store, they most certainly have great product, unfortunately it ended on a sour note.Midway through our browsing/shopping I personally received the most unique and awkward experience ever in a retail store. After handling a vest and trying it on, I placed it back on the hanger and put it back on the rack. I pull my phone out to check the score of the Clemson vs Notre Dame game, close game with 2 minutes to go, Clemson is up. Out of nowhere, from over my shoulder an older “gentlemen” working in the store says:Gentlemen: “Taking a picture of the tag so you can buy it somewhere else I see? People have been doing that all day.” (Very snark about it.)Me: “Sir, that was not what I was doing?”Gentlemen: “Well I saw you take your phone out of your back pocket. I have a half million of inventory I’m trying to sell. Was it not?”Me: “That’s quite the accusation to make don’t you think? Especially towards a customer…”He and I exchanged a couple more words, no foul language was said, but I was in shock that someone (who seemed like the store owner) would come at a customer from that direction. One would think I had stole from the store.I’m not sure if he’s aware, the store is named “The Southern Way”, but in the south during fall and football season many guys are checking their phones to see the score of college football games, or as a general sense, people check their phones?? Maybe people had been taking pictures of tags all day and he just chose me as the target of frustration, I don’t know.But what I will say, what was said to me as a customer was absolutely inappropriate and inexcusable. My wife and I left the store immediately, will most certainly not be back.

Today I had a very pleasant (stress free) shopping experience in updating my wardrobe. Owner Harry was so helpful - personable - knowledgeable - with a great sense of humor. I will be back. ?

Fantastic store for casual up to date styles. The owner is fantastic and is usually on site. I can’t speak for the women’s section but the men’s selections are great. The clothing lines are great quality at great prices. You will find every day go to pieces for your wardrobe. Go once and you will go back for years to come.

Cute little store on Main Street in Highlands. We were a group of ladies shopping on a drizzly day in January. Not many stores were open; but thankfully this one was, and we found a few cute things on sale. They have women's and men's clothing and a small selection of accessories and gift items added in. The woman working was very friendly, and helpful....but not pushy. It was a great shopping experience.

My husband never wants to shop for clothes unless we visit The Southern Way! Our favorite and first stop when we come to the Highlands! A great selection of versatile clothing!

While visiting the Highlands area, we stopped in The Southern Way to look at men's clothing during their post-Christmas sale. My fiancé ended up buying a Johnnie-O button down that was advertised as 30% off. When we got home, he decided to look at the Johnnie-O website because he loved the shirt so much and wanted to order more. We were shocked and disappointed to see that the original price of the shirt straight from Johnnie O was less than what we paid at Southern Way WITH 30% off ($95 on sale at the store ($125 regular) versus $80 full price from the brand site). It's extremely disappointing that a local store is marking up their clothing that much. We spend a lot of time in Highlands as we have family in Lake Toxaway, but we will not return to Southern Way after this incident.

Quality clothing and I always get compliments on all the clothing I purchase. Jude Connelly is my favorite brand. Can't wait to go back, so I can shop. My husband loves his clothing too. Mizzen and Main is his favorite brand. The owner is honest and will tell us if something doesn't fit or look good. I feel he knows exactly what is best for me. I have never shopped at a store where no matter what I purchase, I get so many complaints on. Love, love, love the clothes in this store.

Great service affordable ! Always a variety of men's and women's clothing. Everyone is extremely helpful and professional . If your going to visit the Highlands make this store one of your stops! You will be delightfully impressed. Make sure to ask Harry about the wrinkle free men's shirts! You will be coming back for to buy more.

My wife and I have shopped at The Southern Way twice and both times have been so stress free. Harry, the owner, is so helpful and extremely knowledgeable on all the clothing lines he carries. We live in Florida so keeping cool is a must for us when we choose clothing. I made my first Mizzen and Main purchase there in June of 2017. By far the best shirt I've ever owned. Just got back from Highlands last week and bought some more Mizzen and Main and also some Genteal short sleeved. Unbelievable shirt. I highly recommend stopping by The Southern Way any time you are in Highlands. Fantastic store!!!
