I've been attending this gym for a few years now. It was once nice but it has gone downhill so I've canceled my membership. Cleanliness is an on-going issue from the outdoor pool (dirty - usually junk floating on the top - the bottom peeling off and goop on the bottom), the hot tub (had something thick and black growing around the top - not sure if it was algae, mold, or something else but gross - not cleaned in many many months - told them it was a health department violation and they did clean it immediately but why did it get like that in the first place?), the fitness equipment (very dirty), the indoor track (spilled sticky and dried liquids on the vinyl track and carpets - hasn't been cleaned in years - yuck!), the women's restrooms (won't even describe that), the list goes on and on and on. The place is dark and older looking but that doesn't even matter if it were clean. It doesn't smell good when you walk in. And often times if there's a basketball game happening in the gym, the smell of marijuana reeks throughout the facility. There's an indoor track above the basketball courts and the smell of pot rising will choke you. It will literally take your breath. Half of the lights have been burned out in the women's changing room for 3 or 4 months. It's pretty scary going into a darker room knowing you're getting ready to completely undress naked and feeling like someone could jump out in the dark any minute. I reported it. They said they would put new bulbs in. I hope so but I guess it would have gone on forever had I not reported it as the manager said he had no idea about it. How does happen? They just don't take care of things anymore but they sure have gone up on the price. Membership for one person is $70 per month and a $40 annual assessment fee. That's getting up there close to a thousand dollars a year for muck! Also, there are wide concrete steps that lead up to the entrance. The concrete is the slick kind of concrete instead of rough. Some genius decided to paint it. I cannot tell you how many times I have almost slipped and fallen on those steps in my tennis shoes when it is raining because it is slick as ice. I don't get it at all. The workers can be disrespectful to the clients on occasion. A head trainer sought me out on the fitness floor and got confrontational with me in front of other members about a personal matter instead of asking to speak to me in private... which would have been perfectly fine. I will not go into the full story but I will add that it's an unprofessional atmosphere with music that will play (usually rap) containing foul offensive embarrassing sexual moans and lyrics. I was told by the manager those songs just jump in there from time to time and they can't stop it and the recommendation would be for me to wear headphones. Really? For almost a thousand dollars per year? What about the young people that are exposed to this? Nothing proactive to prevent this to protect the client? Okie dokie! Bottom line... this is a place of business and the expectation is for things to be professional at all times but they have let that important aspect slide. It didn't used to be this way. I cannot recommend the SportCenter Athletic Club until they make major improvements all the way around at this facility.

I love this gym, very nice mature environment with more equipment than any other gym.

Customers Service over the phone was amazing… didn’t actually visit the facility due to high prices for membership!

I've been coming to this gym for a long time and am now really disappointed with the cleanliness. The women's bathroom upstairs near the exercise studio is disgusting, the toilets are dirty and gross. They look like they haven't been cleaned in a while! The outdoor pool is nice until you notice all the leaves floating in it or look down in the water and see the decaying leaves at the bottom and black stuff that I really don't want to know what it is... they really don't take care of the pool anymore. The chairs by the pool are also filthy and need a good scrubbing! I'm thinking of trying sagewell at least I hope it's clean....

No matter what my workout entails, I can always get a solid lift in at Sportscenter! I’ve been a member here for over 10 years and have no plans of leaving.

My husband signed up with a friend, asked the guy at the desk if he could cancel his membership at any time. This man said yes. My husband needed to cancel as he got a new job and the hours don't work well for him, and was given the runaround. You can only cancel when a certain person is there. He went in today talked to the same guy he signed up with and was given the "I would have never said that" answer. What a joke.

Lived in high point the last 10 years and was always a YMCA member until Covid. I knew this was the "premier" gym in the area wth a heavier monthly price. However, you get what you pay for. Great facility, mostly friendly staff, weekly and daily open gym basketball, pickle ball, volleyball.. several areas with weight equipment so you can choose your comfort zone. Indoor and outdoor pool. Sauna and steam room. Pretty much everything.

I absolutely LOVE this gym. The staff is so kind and helpful, and the gym community as a whole is a great environment to be in. 10/10 would recommend.

We like it here. It's meant more for adults. Kids can use the pool and basketball court and in summer you have outdoor pool. I can only recommend.

Great place to work out. There are a bunch of machines, but there are only two squat racks. The gym itself is decent, but the basketball courts are great. The pool and hot tub, and showers are nice too. A bit expensive though.
