Okay so I'll admit it... I'm such a chocoholic now. But when you have a dairy allergy, fulfilling your chocolate craving can seem more like a chore instead of something sweet. But this isn't the case at French Broad! I go here everytime I visit Asheville because their vegan chocolates and vegan ice creams are divine. I've tried the milkshake made with their vegan chocolate ice cream, their GF peanut butter cookies, their cold and hot sipping chocolates, and finally on this year's visit I had the vegan ice cream- toasted coconut and buddha (vegan chocolate). The ice cream by far is my favorite. It is so decadent and creamy that you almost forget it is dairy free. My tastebuds dance with joy each time I put something from French Broad into my mouth. Make sure to visit French Broad if you or a loved one is a chocoholic like me. Or if you just want some fantastic, blissful dessert.

I got the ginger cookie - knocked me off my feet. The crunch was just right and the chocolate coating was so artfully done. It inspired me to bake some ginger cookies at home. All the other baked goods were super tempting to me, so I hope to be back soon for another taste!

Exceptional cappuccino, milkshakes and drinking chocolate! Also, the creme de pot is addictive! A little pricey but so worth it.

Went here with my wife, who eats gluten free, for an afternoon sweets break. She got some sort of chocolate tort, which she liked a lot. I ordered a slice of carrot cake, which I hadn't had in a while. I was a little put off by the $7 a slice price. I also ordered a beer, but was later informed that they had run out of that type. It took them a while to cancel/refund the price, but that can happen anywhere. The carrot cake was pretty frikkin awesome. Maybe the best I have had in my life. Honestly, it had all of the elements right, and in the right portions. Often, you get a carrot cake and the cake is too over spiced with nutmeg and allspice, the carrot pieces are too big, the frosting is too tart of too thick. This one had the cake, spices and carrot all in complimentary portions, and the icing was sweet, but not overpowering. I'd definitely eat their carrot cake again, but I might be wary about the drinks.

I think I have to come here every time I'm in the area. Their chocolate creme brí»lée is that good! This time I got their creme brí»lée, of course, latte and a brownie. I love how they make the caramelized top right after you order it. The service was pretty quick but it was also a Monday afternoon. I know they get super packed during busy times but I know I'll stay in whatever size line they have to get their chocolate creme brí»lée!

Seemed overrated given the long line outside. The desserts were pretty good, but the restaurant was really dirty. Thick caked dust everywhere above eye level. Just didn't feel clean. The coffee was fantastic. The beer was ok. The chocolate ganache cake was meh. The peanut butter brownie was pretty good but should be shared due to sweetness. The inclusive environment was comforting, refreshing, welcoming, and fantastic.

Stopped in for a taste of chocolate and some coffee. Service is good, brownie quite tasty and enjoy the sprinkle of salt on top.

A group of friends and I were walking around Downtown Asheville and we came across this lounge! It was a perfect place for us to sit, talk, and enjoy some hot drinks on a chilly night. We first had to wait in a line for 10 minutes. It was pretty busy but it was a Saturday night when we were there. Though we were outside, it was nice that they had outdoor patio heaters to keep us warm. We ordered hot chocolate, liquid truffle drink, and the quintessential cake. Out of everything, I personally enjoyed the cake the most. It wasn't over bearing with their chocolate and perfect for five people to share. I shared the liquid truffle - rose, cardamom & pistachio. I thought it was a bit bitter and had an interesting after-taste. My other two friends had the hot chocolate - rose, cardamom & pistachio. I believe the pistachio adds an interesting flavor to the hot drinks... They didn't enjoy the hot chocolate and had to change it to the salted caramel flavor, which was definitely better. Great portions to share and a perfect place to hang out and chill with your friends!

I head in because it was freezing during my trip and I really wanted a hot chocolate, little did I know that this place was sorta known for it but in a unique way. I was quickly educated that they have an 8 ounce and a 4 ounce, they both have the same amount of Ganache as their base, but the 8ounce cup has a bit of half and half added to make it "more drinkable" I had a honey lavender liquid truffle (4oz) when I left with a bit of the peanut butter cake, the cake was a bit dry but still good and the PB buttercream was great. That liquid truffle was as decadent as could be, so rich and velvety, and so thick n full bodied that they give you a spoon. While in the shop however, I tried the 8oz hot chocolate flavored with smoked maple and sea salt (phenomenal) I had to try a macaron of course (espresso). Glorious. Just the way a macaron should be. Delicate. Complicated. Simple. Magical.

French Broad Chocolates is a chocolate company based out of Asheville, North Carolina. They've got a chocolate boutique and chocolate lounge in pack square - right in the heart of Downtown. I've been wanting to go to the lounge for a while. I suggest parking at the garage right off Market Street- across from the Fire Department; since parking in pack square can kinda be in high demand. The shop and lounge is only a short stroll up. The day I visited the chocolate lounge I had a hard time opening the door, as usual - but once I got inside I immediately smelled waves of delicious chocolate and forgot about my brief battle with the hinged nemesis. There was a pretty long line - but the wait went by rather quickly; and it was a great opportunity to take in my surroundings. The interior of the chocolate lounge totally feels reminiscent of an old timey 1920s era Chocolate Shop (pre - 1929). There were *so* many delectable types of desserts & truffles to choose from; as well as ice cream, beer, wine, & bubbly - it was hard to decide on what I wanted. Finally, I ordered a Lavender Creme Brí»lée, Pistachio Macaroon, and Salted Caramel Drinking Chocolate. My Creme Brí»lée, and Pistachio Macaroon came up right away - so I grabbed them and found a nice little secluded two top table in the hallway. Shortly after; one of the nice servers brought my salted caramel drinking chocolate over to my table. By then I had already devoured Macaroon, which was very authentic tasting - light & airy; yet crunchy and chewy at the same time - with a distinct pistachio flavor to it. The Drinkable Salted Caramel Chocolate was just the right temperature, sweet but not a weird sugary sweet, and thick AF. There was a delightful salted taste when I licked my lips. Oh; and the Creme Brí»lée was superb as well - no overpowering lavender taste or overbearing sweetness to it. I would definitely suggest getting some water when you order your food and drink, so you don't have to wait in line again or get caught drinking out of the faucet in the bathroom sink. The chocolate and sweets made me SO thirsty, bizarre - I know. After you eat; bus your table - and head out the back (past the restrooms) so you don't miss the "Chocolate Library" Boutique. While you're over at French Broad Chocolates make sure you wander a little ways over to the center of the city to admire the pig statues and take lots of cute pictures for your IG. So I haven't been to the chocolate *factory* yet; I'll have to report back on that - but, I'd imagine it's a lot like lot the factory in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - but without all the Oompa Loompas. I really hope they have a chocolate waterfall I can fall into.

Fabulous chocolate treats! I loved my salted caramel chocolate mousse top with whip cream for $7 and delicious chai latte for around $4. The mousse was rich and decadent, hard to finish but I refused to waste a drop, so perfectly sweet, salty, and bittersweet. The chai was frothed great with nice latte art, at a good drinking temperature, and with cinnamon sprinkled on top. A perfect spot for a date night. The place is big and open feeling with lots of seating. There's of course chocolates, cakes, Brownies, pies, and more pastries. They also offer coffee, tea, and other drinks. There's usually a long line so lots of time to chat. The workers are helpful if you're deciding between items and in keeping the line moving.

This place is always a solid stop. I love the environment, the choices, the yummy cake and the sipping chocolates. I personally love the maple cake and the chocolate stout cake the best and you can't go wrong with any of the truffles, at least not the ones I have tried.

DRINKS Ordered the barista special, Apple Caramel Cappuccino. It sounded good, but had no tastes outside of a regular cappuccino.
