On 12/4/2023, I engaged Black's Moving and Storage for my move, having previously utilized their services with satisfaction. Regrettably, this time proved to be an entirely different and highly disappointing experience. I believe it is imperative to bring the following issues to your attention:
1. Unprofessionalism:
• Workers arrived smelling of cigarettes, creating an unpleasant and unprofessional atmosphere.
• Despite the magnitude of the move, only two men were dispatched, resulting in a miscalculation of the moving truck size and the inability to transport all of my furniture in one trip.
2. Inadequate Service and Refusal to Perform Basic Tasks:
• The movers refused to assemble my bed, a service that should be standard during a move.
• Only after filing a phone complaint during the move with the office did I receive the basic service I initially expected.
3. Damaged Items and Unacceptable Excuses:
• Two pieces of furniture were damaged during the move, and the explanation provided - "the wind blew it over" - is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about accountability.
4. Argumentative Behavior and Complaints from Staff:
• One worker, who frequently took cigarette breaks, argued about moving a large picture frame, demonstrating a lack of professionalism.
• Complaints were openly voiced about the weight of the furniture, a behavior that is unprofessional and inappropriate.
5. Inefficiency and Tardiness:
• The movers did not leave the new address until 9:30 pm on 12/4/2023, and the remaining furniture was not delivered until 1:30 pm the next day, 12/5/2023, creating unnecessary delays and inconveniences.
This experience has been emotionally and physically taxing, and I feel compelled to bring it to your attention in the hope that Black's Moving and Storage can be held accountable for their subpar service.

I have now used Black's moving twice. Both times they have been on time, efficient, and courteous. They wrapped all furniture in moving blankets before they loaded them. Very nice people including the lady in the office.

I am a real estate agent and have recommended them to several clients. Every client has provided outstanding feedback.

I found out that it was not wise to use Black's Moving and Storage in NC. They had a great website when I hired them - which no longer exists. It bragged of experience with full packing for long distance, pianos, antiques, collectibles, estates, etc. I have had 6 professional moves in the past 30+ years, and this was the scariest. This was a long-distance move (NC to NY) involving 2 months of storage. Despite a referral from the people buying the house I moved out of, I was not pleased with them in the end. The only thing I have good to say is that they were kind and friendly; and I let that impact my decision to cancel another company to use Black's. The first company offered $2000 off the price of my move to get me to stick with them. I should have gone with it. Not only did Black's end up more expensive, the final price was over $1500 higher than the original estimate. This was not just due to higher gas prices. They underestimated the miles from their warehouse to Albany at 700 (I thought it should have been over 800) and the actual address I moved to turned out to be 153 miles more. I got no copy of the "high full value" insurance policy I paid extra for. They took an inventory of only some of my antiques and high value items and I received no copy of that inventory stating the original condition. There were some items that were not even properly packed before leaving my house, and I was told this would be done before my goods left their warehouse for delivery. It was not. I had already packed half of my boxes myself. My mattresses and grandfather clock were supposed to get cartons, and they cancelled those and wrapped them in bags/cardboard. The only things packed well were kitchen items and wardrobes. I had to tell them they missed packing many items; and they missed some drawers and cabinets - which I had to pack myself and make them come back for. I learned a lesson not to use an estimate based on weight instead of truck sq. ft. used. They estimated the weight at 4500 lbs. and then refused to weigh the shipment for delivery saying it would likely weigh more than 4500 lbs. and I would have to pay more (so?). They changed my delivery date 3 times, and they were in a big hurry to get out of here. I had to ask them to unwrap my grandfather clock so I could see the condition! Some of my collectibles and furniture were not packed well. I had some damage to a few items when goods arrived - fortunately minor - and I received no response from them when I sent an email and pictures of the damage. I have been able to repair some of the damage myself, but never received the requested claim to report the damage for any insurance payback. There was no inventory anyway for proof. They left a moving blanket and a cinder block (used to hold the front door) behind. There was wall damage in a newly painted apartment from them banging things. Very stressful move. Use them at your own risk - I did.

I moved from NC to Arizona and I called Black's moving and Storage company and they came right out for my estimate. Infact, the lady was 30 mins early which was great and when the big move came, they reassured me that my things would make it to my new home on time. They actually made it earlier than they said which was great for me because we had a family emergency and when I got back home, everything was placed exactly where I asked them to place it along with my great grandmother's antique tables. ( one less worry for me) I will most definitely be using this company again! Im so greatful to have found them.

I had a move that ended up having all sorts of challenges, all of which were my fault or my problem, not theirs. They still made the move happen smoothly and well, cheerfully. They handled difficult circumstances professionally and skillfully. I think the world of them.

My mom and I had to pack up my apartment and drive from North Carolina back to Kentucky on a Thursday morning. Not only did these movers not show up, they never answered their phone or returned any of our messages. It was very disappointing. We were left to do all the heavy lifting ourselves last minute.

We moved long distance. They were reasonably priced. Everything arrived on time in great condition with nothing missing. A very nice family owned business that personally sees your belongings from beginning to end.

Be careful if you decide to hire this company. They severely damaged my brand new hardwood floors while moving a piano into my house and would not pay to fix them. They don't even know how to read their own contract. I could say much more about how the office staff treats you and talks to you but a higher power will deal with her one day. Gave them 7 months to make it right and they wouldn't so I called the damage into my homeowners. Now their insurance company can deal with my insurance company.
