I attended the longest night service on 12/21. It was held in the chapel on the lake, which is absolutely beautiful. It was a wonderful service. The staff was so very kind. It was a lovely & meanful service.

My husband and I were looking for a place to go for my birthday. God lead us to here. I am so pleased with the whole trip. We plan on visiting again.

This place is amazing! Beautiful location, great facilities, super friendly and helpful staff. We loved our stay there! The lake is great and we enjoyed canoeing on it each day. They have a great disc golf course as well which is a lot of fun. Nice little gift shop also. We will definitely be back!

Staff was very nice and accommodating. The only issue I had was that I was not told there was a pet fee until we paid the night before and showed up the next morning and was told there was a pet fee of $75 per pet. I’ve never stayed at a place that has a charge that much! The reason I decided to stay there was because they were less expensive than the other place that only charge $35 Both pets.I told in advance that we had dogs. We had crates and they’re small dogs. The carpet was stained and the chairs and little couch that were provided were also stained. The sheets had spots on them and there was some hairs I had to take off the sheets.Blankets look like they have never been washed. The stove top was not clean. The pots and pans were not very nice.Really would not stay here ever again because I did not feel that it was a very clean place. The main reason was that I was not told the correct information until I already paid upfront for the room.

We love it here! It's beautiful and the customer service is fantastic! They gave us fire wood for the fire pit, charcoal for the grill, and made sure we had everything we needed! We highly recommend!

Where would our communities be without the Hinton Center? Such warm, caring people, and I have to admit, love the food!!!

Two words... BED BUGS!! We stayed in one of the new retreat centers for a weekend with youth & young adults ladies weekend of refreshing & renewal! However, we got more than we bargained for when you add bed bugs in two of the rooms. We had two adults & two youth severally bitten by bed bugs on the first night. Two requiring medical attention from allergic reaction to the bites. Els & Rachel were amazing on how they reacted to clean personal items. However, Beth & the manangement team are another subject. At first, Beth was only going to offer a $75 discount off the total $1300 for our pain & suffering. After much back & forth, she reluctantly gave us an addition $350 (30% refund), but she was not very remorseful or show concern with the medical conditions that were an immediate result. We were not going for a full refund, but did believe that we were due more compensation as we spent our weekend cleaning bedding (not refreshing & renewing), dealing with kids with PTSD from waking covered in bugs, allergic reactions. Not to mention, there were now two rooms & 6 beds (for 8 people) that were closed off to us (as well as two rooms that were never unlocked in the basement). To add to the drama, we also had an issue with mice & were told by one of their staff that they were not going to hurt us as she did nothing. All & All, we were left with a very bad opinion of Hinton Rural Life Center, their management, & their inability to own up to their issues.

We stayed at the Hinton Center and had a fantastic time. This is a beautiful and peaceful retreat nestled amongst Lake Chatuga and the beautiful and colorful NC/North GA Mountains. We stayed in the cottage house by the Lake and enjoyed the canoeing and swimming in the lake and just sitting rocking in the rocking chairs on the front porch. The dining area had delicious and healthy food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is a perfect place for couples, families, friends, or just going yourself retreat.

Wonderful retreat center with cafeteria style dining and gift shop. The accommodations are perfect for a large group. We stayed in the Johnson Retreat house. The bedrooms are each equipped with their own bathrooms. The retreat houses are complete with large meeting area, eat in kitchen, and laundry area. I went to the Hinton Center for a Marriage Encounter retreat and was very impressed with the accommodations. I think the Hinton Center will be a perfect venue for a family reunion. The location is beautiful with long views of the mountains and lake. The rocking chair porches are restful and perfect for contemplation. It is conveniently located near town for those short trips to the grocery, shopping, or vacation exploring. We'll be back.

Fantastic place to really get away for a while. Hermitage cottages especially good for unplugging.
