This was my 7th charter and by far was the weakest effort. We were on the Gambler for half day. We trolled the mouth of the channel and it was obvious the crew couldn't wait to get back in. First mate napped a few times - I've never seen that on any of the other boats. We put about 8 small mackerel on but no change of lures or bait to try and catch anything else. The sea was calm but a couple of hours in the 1st mate suggested we troll in the bay since seas were getting rough. Disappointing trip honestly for 1k. I know you're not guaranteed to catch but pervious trips we always left with no doubt the crew did everything they could to leave us smiling.
For what is worth or first charter was out of Hatteras 2018 and it was so good we were hooked on charters (vs party boats).

Small town, Marina. Visited this location for a Fishing Charter. This location was 1.25 hours away from our vacation location. So glad we made the trip here to fish. We booked a 7am charter with Hook Up Charters out of Hatteras Harbor Marina and were very happy with their service and the fishing catch! Definitely will return to this Marina for our next fishing charter.

These people ran my card when they had zero business doing so. I called to set up a charter and when they said no dogs the conversation ended there with me saying I wasn't no longer interested even with their check in policy the day before they never received from myself still went ahead and charged me full price. Thank God my bank is great these people are scammers. God don't like ugly.

Great marina. Access to/from marina is a zig-zag obstacle course. Consider following a local boat through inlet the first couple times in and out. Hotel room was no frills with a smell of cigarette smoke. Apparently the guests ignored the posted “no smoking” signs in the room. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Great people!

A group of us have been shore fishing the OBX for many years and decided to try something different year. We called around to the local bait shops for recommendations and Hook Up Charter with Capt John Canning based out of Hatteras Harbor Marina came up several times. Capt John is young but very focused on achieving your goal to catch fish. So much so that he doesn't communicate very well as to his intentions to get you those fish but if the fish are there, he will find them by talking with his fellow charters and friends as to where they are. We were supposed to fish inshore (the sound) but realized we were heading out of Ocracoke Inlet into the ocean. Capt John only told us of the change after being asked and it was because the fishing reports for the sound were not good. We rolled with it but it would have been nice to know before we started as one of the group is prone to getting seasick. Regardless, Capt John got us on several groups of blues and we had a ball. In no time we hit our quota and went looking for Spanish mackerel. If the rain hadn't started and our friend had been feeling better, we would have continued looking but we decided to call it a success and go back in. Overall it was a great experience and we'll consider doing it again next year.

We stayed here while in the area for various activities. The rooms are clean, well appointed for cooking if desired, and each room has a small private balcony. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Convenient to ferry terminal, charter boats, groceries and restaurants. The deli is usually open on site but had closed for a week for R&R. Would have liked to been able to check it out. Active nesting purple martins on the property were great to watch!
